One Shadow Sword Style - First Stance!
Endless Night!
Wasting no time, Lawkey kicked off the ground, closed this distance in an instance and swung one of his blades at his opponent. The shadows around the swordsman and his swords quickly followed the practiced technique.
“?!”
WHOOOSH!!
“You lowly peasant! How dare you destroy the Goddess’ sun!?”
As Zoran snapped out of his daze, he managed to redirect one of his sacred shields to block the incoming attack.
However…
CRACK!!
“Now most of your toys are gone.” Lawkey pushed against the defense causing the sacred shield to show web-like cracks. “Let’s have a proper duel, priest!”
“Damn you!!”
Seeing the situation for what it was, Zoran quickly held up both hands and shot two light beams at his opponent. However, just before they could reach their mark, Lawkey shattered the sacred shield and passed through it.
One Shadow Sword Style - Sixth Stance!
Early Spring Moonrise!
While deflecting both light beams with one sword, Lawkey readjusted his grip on his right sword and swung it upwards at his opponent, the shadows from beneath quickly following.
Sun’s Blessing, Light’s Bestowment!
Sacred Mirror!
“?!”
In a split second, Zoran’s entire body shone as brightly as the orb he had been using not too long ago.
When Lawkey’s sword passed through him along with the shadows, he had just been an afterimage of light left behind, almost like a mirage.
Looking up, the swordsman could see his opponent a few meters back now. Although he was standing with his amber emblem still going strong, he seemed to be sweating.
He didn’t seem tired. However, having to use these sacred techniques was…
“I’ll make you pay for this!! All you have done since coming here is disrespect the Eversun Goddess! You, who is cursed a miscreant from the exiled clan! How dare you-”
“Shut up, already.” Lawkey cut him off as he walked forward, both swords held to the side as the shadows began to engulf them. “Don’t you get tired of sprouting the same shit over and over again?”
“What?!”
“Just fight, man. This isn’t a debate, it’s a duel.”
“You…!!” Zoran’s eyes threatened to touch his forehead as he snapped.
Blinding lights began to emit from his body once more, quickly turning him into a humanoid-shaped sun.
“...”
Lawkey wasn’t about to wait for the outcome, but so far, he had been trying to think of a way to use both his swords together.
Although he had always felt like the time would come for him to use two swords, he hadn’t trained in that style, let alone learned any techniques.
For one of the aspects of the Shadow Sword Style’s Fourth Principle where one needs to choose their goals, Lawkey had chosen to develop his own sword style one day as one of his goals. He wasn’t so naive to think he could do it so quickly, nor did he ever think he would find himself in this kind of situation where he would be using two swords in a fight out of nowhere.

And yet, here he was.
I just need to adapt and learn on the spot… If it was that easy, it wouldn’t have taken a sword saint years to properly develop a sword style… heh, easy is for the weak, isn’t that right, old man? Lawkey chuckled inwardly as he got into a slight crouch with both swords still held to his sides.
And in an instant…
WHOOOSHH!!
… he was already flying, the shadows barely keeping up with his speed. Just before he reached his opponent…
For now, I’ll try to combine things I know, rather than make something new… I don’t know if the old man would accept this, but I’m sure he would eventually just sigh and understand…
As he thought that, he held each sword to the opposite side of his torso, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Two Shadow Sword Style - First Stance!
Endless Night - Twofold!
However, on the other side, his opponent was reaching the point of no return.
Sun’s Blessing, Light’s Bestowment!
Sacred Supernovae!
Just before they clashed, back at the altar, a little girl was trying to do her part as she watched the two fight.
“Go auntie! Go… uncle?”
BOOOOMMMM!!
All the little girl was able to make out was a huge explosion towards the original entrance of the cathedral. Her eyes were quickly overwhelmed as both light and shadow fought continuously against each other, clashing nonstop.
She could no longer see the two humans under the clashes, but she could still feel the shockwaves and tremors their blows radiated to the surroundings around them.
Despite everything, she trusted in the promise Lawkey made her and turned to her aunt instead.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!!
With nothing to worry about anymore, and a replica of her spear in her hands again, Riana had been easily able to dodge any bullets that were coming her way.
She jumped, somersaulted or ducked, but just to be safe, she occasionally deflected the bullets she thought might head towards Sana.
Eventually, she had made it close enough to thrust her spear at her opponent without needing to worry about his endless bullets. Her turquoise emblem still shone with determination.
“?!”
“You’re not going anywhere!”
Having noticed her plan, Nast used the shockwave-indusing shoes he had used at the beginning to propel himself away from Riana.
However, Riana gave him no time chances as she quickly stabbed her spear in the ground and propelled herself in the air to follow him.
“What are you?!”
BANG! BANG!
CLANG! CLANG!
Ignoring the panicked opponent, Riana trusted in her new scales to block two bullets. She quickly brought her spear back, twirled it around in midair and thrusted downwards at Nast as she descended on him from above.
Shit! There is no other way! My shoes are in a cooldown, I can’t take out a new gun that quickly, and I can’t use the illusory or camouflage artifacts to help me here… Nast quickly made up his mind, I have to use the trump card now or I’m dead because of this stupid siren!
“Do it now!!”
“?!”
As Nast shouted at the top of his lungs, Riana was momentarily taken aback, but she quickly recovered and brought her spear swinging down at her opponent.
Although he tried to step back, Riana’s spear had a long reach. With nothing at his disposal to help him, Nast could only watch helplessly as the siren’s spear slashed his chest.
“Ughh!” The sudden heat rushing to his head overwhelmed him to the point of blacking out for a second.
Nast was not a close combat fighter. He wasn’t used to pain, especially not from a wound like this.
“...”
Narrowing her sharp eyes, Riana landed, and quickly resumed her charge with a new thrust toward her opponent. It was safe to say she had no pity for the one who was bullying and hitting her niece.
On the contrary, she had to punish him.
“Dammit!! Where the hell are you two?! I’m going to die-”
BLERGH!!
Before he could finish his sentence, Riana had driven her spear through the middle of Nast’s torso.
What was he trying to do? Was he really calling for someone, or was he trying to trick me again? The siren questioned, but she wasn’t going to waste too much time thinking now.
She had a job to finish.
However…
“?!”
Her spear was held firmly by Nast’s hands. He frowned at her as he spit out more blood while trying to talk.
“You’re late dammit… do it quick… and help me…!”
“Who are you talking to…?!”
“Auntiee!!”
Just as Riana was asking the question, her niece’s voice alerted her to turn back.
STAB!
“Hnghh!”
However, she had been too late.
The spear was already stabbed through the side of her stomach, the hard scales unable to block it.
“You…!”
Riana raised her head to see the assailant, but her pupils quickly constricted into tiny needle points.
“S-sorry… he didn’t come…” the voice muttered.
The one who had stabbed her, the one whose appearance was still in the process of becoming visible due to the camouflage cloak…
“Arya…!”
Both Sana and Riana recognized the person that showed up. How could they forget when it was the very same siren that sold Sana to the Golden Garden Guild in the first place?
Now she was here, helping them again.
No… she’s been here the entire time… this spear… it’s my spear that disappeared earlier… Riana put the missing pieces together.
After she had stopped Nast’s gun earlier from firing at her niece, Riana had thrown the spear that her late sister had gifted her. While she had been successful, both in destroying one gun and cutting off Nast’s index finger, she had lost sight of that spear not long after it had landed behind the cathedral.
Dammit… at this rate… Riana felt her power quickly drain away as the turquoise emblem in front of her forehead began to flutter.
Deep down she knew what that meant, what the piercing pain in her torso meant.
Even so, she had a responsibility to uphold.
A promise.
For some reason, her last meeting with her sister came rushing back into her mind.
The events of that day, the day everything changed.
She knew what needed to be done now.
No matter the cost.
