Chapter 3- The bigger they are the harder they fall

I remember reading that diamond was the second hardest material known to man and the hardest naturally forming. But there is only one problem that all things that are too rigid have in common. Once they break they shatter. Which means, maybe. Focusing with all his might he formed a weapon from his own soul. At first it was like a fluid but in just an instant it formed into an enormous hammer that would have made a dwarf drool in envy. With a head larger than his chest and the top slightly angled outward it looked drastically oversized for any human. With raised symbols of some kind floating on the sides of the head like holograms the stylized western dragons would give any artist a run for his money.

With a haft almost three quarters as long as his body it was a monster of a weapon, yet he knew it was far from enough. Using his connection to the weapon he made it vibrate with all his considerable will power. He finally heard a low hum and looked back up at the giant right as it looked down at him. Due to the sudden pressure when it appeared he had went into a hyperactive state where his thoughts were considerably faster than normal. They locked eyes for a solid thirty seconds where neither one moved, then the giant grinned.

It was a bloodthirsty thing that was full of Malice and the raw enjoyment of bringing pain to another creature. Within an instant the battle had begun. The Giant roared and the shock wave alone threw him back almost thirty feet, and shook his organs till he spat out a mouth full of blood. He threw himself to the right just in time to avoid the fist that rushed towards him.

With a mad sprint he bolted through the things legs and leaped for its ankle. He floundered when he went right past it’s ankle, then it’s shin, almost to its knee before he bounced off, and rolled off it’s foot. Why is my body so light? And why didn’t that fall hurt nearly as much as it should have. Now it was his turn for a bloodthirsty grin. Without further ado he launched himself straight at the ankle this time, making sure to get just the right amount of spin into his Jump so that his hammer hit at maximum velocity. Just like the giants roar had injured him with shockwaves he was going to use the same principle to bust right through his Diamond skin and shater his bones.

Flaring the vibrations on his hammer an instant before the impact he was taken totally by surprise at the result. In a completely unnatural way the skin caved in around his hammer and he heard a continuous rumble of snaps and pops as the giants foot failed to support him and he started to collapse. With a scream of pain and an enormous shock wave he landed half curled up and reaching for his ankle on reflex. Not missing the opportunity he did the same thing but this time to his wrist and with nearly identical results.

Without missing a beat he dove for the other ankle and repeated the process. Now almost entirely crippled the giant was mad with pain and started thrashing repeatedly. And now is my que to start guerilla tactics. As he bolted out of the giants range he finally relaxed spit out rest of the blood he’d been holding down. Not good, the bleeding won’t stop. Unless i find some healing magic or a potion or something i can only keep going for maybe another hour or two. I need to end this fast or i’m the one that will die first.

With a deep breath to steady himself he dashed toward the back of the giants neck. Nearly every humanoid creature in both fantasy and the previous reality had an inward curve on the back of their neck just above where it connected to their spine, if he could sever it’s spinal column it was as good as dead. Counting on being hard to see on account of his size he slid under its neck and prayed it wouldn’t suddenly spasm or something and crush him. After a few tense minutes the giant seemed to pay more attention on trying to find him. Taking his chance he tensed and put all the force he could manage into the blow.

With a sudden roar of defiance he felt the bone give and crumble but never one to take chances when he could avoid it he absorbed the recoil into a spin and landed another one after a 180 degree spin. He felt his arms and back creak and pop with the strain. The only thing different this time was that the skin ruptured and covered him head to toe in bits broken bone and blood, unfortunately that included all up in his eyes and mouth. With a twitch the giants roar was cut off mid way all tension fled the body. The ground shook as the arms collapsed but he didn’t even bother to look.

He was very busy throwing up his guts off to the bodies left trying to get the nastiness out of his mouth and eyes. Even his internal injuries could be put on hold for that. Nothing like rancid tasting blood with liberal hunks of meat and bone mixed in getting forced down your throat to kill all sense of fulfilment after a near death battle. When there was finally nothing left in his stomach to hurl he straightened up and for a split second he thought he was already dead.

Not twenty feet in front of him, sitting cross legged three feet off the ground was what could pass as a neighborhood grandfather type figure in in a hawaiian T-shirt and jean shorts. It didn’t help his impressions any with what came next.

“Impressive. An interesting choice when faced with a creature that had absolute defence, much more entertaining than most who come through here, although to date only two have managed to make it out alive at all. Very original if i do say so myself, and that qualifies you for the bonus prize. More so actually since he was literally undefeated on his entire planet. So we’ll just upgrade the original reward then shall we.” Now completely and thoroughly thrown for a loop he could only stare blankly as the old man slowly raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

Congratulations you have defeated Gregor the Mountain Giant

Your deed this day has been acknowledged by System Administrator Arjax Corelan and he has authorized a condensed reward based on exemplary performance and creative execution to an unsolvable life or death scenario that was specifically biased against your class, level, and skill set.

Chaos Dragon Monarch

Near the dawn of the Cosmos there were no laws to anything. In the midst of this chaotic amalgamation of pure energy only one life form ever managed to evolve and they were later named the Chaos Dragons. It is unclear to any living sentient how they managed to do this but it was eventually discovered that one among them-the first of their kind- possessed the ability to passively absorb this chaos energy and use it to strengthen its body and soul to levels even gods learned to fear. Chaos was the beginning of everything and all creation evolved from chaos originally thus it has been said by most learned scholars that those who master Chaos have in effect mastered creation. To date this has never come even close to being successfully done thus it remains a mere theory.

“Oh, that’s interesting. I never would have thought that the special attribute of the human races bloodline was the ability to merge flawlessly with any other bloodline, and doesn’t seem like it’s only limited to one. Looks like this planets integration was a real diamond in the ruff.” With a look of pleasant surprise on his face the old man seemed to almost be talking with himself.

“Uh, excuse me. I really don’t mean to be rude but um.. No you know what never mind, I’ll figure it out.” He nearly asked what the hell was going on with his world but quickly decided to bite his tongue. The only time back talking what might as well be the equivalent of a god right in front of him ever worked out was in comic books and third rate short stories. “Thank for this great gift sir.”

I have no idea where exactly on the galactic power scale this would fall exactly but there’s no way in hell it would be weak considering what i just had to do to get it, plus the fact that this is the product of multiple supposedly high class rewards being combined into one. I can totally figure the rest out without possibly pissing off or annoying a god level entity or whatever the hell he is.

All these thoughts flashed by in the blink of an eye but he was still sweating from the mistake he almost just made. “HAHAHAHAHA. Wow i haven’t heard something that made that much sense in decades.” It painted a very odd picture to see what looked like a sixty year old man rolling around in mid air like a tenager watching a comedy TV series. “Wow I don’t know whether your Instinct is off the charts or if your deduction skills are just that good.”

With a huge grin and wiping a literal tear out of his eyes from laughing so hard he finally looked back over and sat back up in his original posture. “First you guessed right, secondly i’m only a god compared to someone of your level and lastly the universe is a vast place with an unknown hundreds of thousands of planets in in countless solar systems over multiple dimensions. You as a race have a lot to learn before you can even claim to now a fraction of what you will need to to survive in your new reality. Good luck and try not to die too soon.”

With a pop he found himself back in the same position he was in before he left. With a sense of deja vu he listened as yet another series of Dings pounded across the surface of his brain.
