The wind blew bringing the fresh scent of weeds and flowers.
I don't understand what went through the lead directors head to allow me to reside on the surface but I'm not complaining.
The green weed growing on the fields of the village waved in the wind like a ocean of green.
Then a new scent introduced itself and a grin formed on my face. I dashed into the fields following the scent, NY body turning into that of a hound. It ran away but I chased after it. The fields not slowing me since the weeds are still green and soft.
I felt an exhalirating rush of energy and excitement. I couldn't and didn't need to see my prey, my nose can't be fooled. I was rapidly closing the gap between the two of us until I could hear its panicked steps.
I was just about to leap when my right heind leg stepped into a hole.
This wasn't here yesterday.
By the time I got it free (it was a deep hole) the one I was chasing was already gone. I turned back to my human form and looked over the fields with the increased height from my kangal form. Clever girl, she brought me to a part of the field where her scent is everywhere.
I wasn't fooled, but bamboozled.
I let her run when I caught her brethren in hopes of her giving me a better chase later on. But now I'm starting to struggle.
She's faster than me and always stays near dug out hiding spots, each of them smell exactly like her.
The sound of the church bells chatches my attention and the bitter smile turned into a malice filled grin. The people in the village were raised with the soul purpose of keeping the appearance of a normal village.
But what kind of village has only albinos as residents.
They never sound the church bell, except when somethings happening. There wasn't any talk about the countess and the next batch of goods should still be on their way.
This is gonna be fun.
----------------------------------------
We arrived at the village and the first thing we heard were the church bells. The thing that was unusual was that no one reacted to it except for some kids but children always make a fuss.

It's a small village and I'm sure that it's even overlooked by tax collectors, yet no one cared about our arrival. A village this small should have been in talks about the arrival of adventures but no one bothered to acknowledge us.Not even the children who were playing on the sides of the road gave us no attention.
I'm not sure how to feel about this, on one hand we won't face the problems with being the center of attention, on the other ignoring us would mean that they have no use for us.
But there's also something else that bothers me.
They never stand in the sun.
They're always in the shadows and only hurriedly walk through lighted areas, as if the sun's hurting them. They hung rugs and blankets between the buildings to create more shade, in some places even wooden planks.
But if they're always in the shade....how are the fields thriving? We've seen the fields on our way here, they wouldn't be thriving as much if the villagers lacklusterly attended the fields.
Yet everyone is sitting in the shade.
There shouldn't be a lack of work, but only few are busy.
What's worse. They don't have any market, stands or anything like that.
As I was lost in thought a stranger approached us.
"It's not every day you see new faces around here."
A young beast man with ears and tail which I see for the first time greeted us with a smile. Not a hound not a wolf, what kin does he belong to? As if to answer my question his curled tail started to lightly move from left to right.
'So a hound.'
The ranger touched me on the shoulder once, which is our agreed way of silently saying not to trust someone. I turn back as to not draw attention.
"Should we introduce ourselves, captain?"
"No, we're not gonna stay anyways, we're just passing through."
Just now I noticed the looks the villagers gave us. Not looks of curiosity, not looks of interest, the only thing I could make out in their eyes was pity.
As we hastily made our way through the village or whatever this is the beast man followed us.
"Don't you want to rest? You must be tired, the Inns around here are running out of business but I can get you a discount. Aren't you hungry? The food around here isn't the best, but the hungrier you are the less you care."
"You're outside the village, you can slow down now."
We have been gradually speeding up as we walked through the village, but he kept up.
"If you consider me an threat why don't you protect the ranged fighters?"
A good question followd by the scream of the ranger. We turned around and what we saw shocked us.
The beast man tore out the rangers throat and swallowed. We drew our weapons but not fast enough. He already pounced on our rouge. He tried to defend himself but was easily overpowered since he wasn't meant for head to head fights. Two down, two to go.
The fighter slashed at the beast but before his sword hit black fur with brown streaks formed all over his body. The slash didn't leave a wound on beasts body.
As a beginner lightning mage I can't do more than a sword so I turned around and ran.
Not sure where to but I didn't care, I just ran.
The worst part? I have been calm through the whole event.
"Run! Run! I'm coming for you!"
If the ranger or touik would have paid attention then they would have noticed the pair of eyes watching them in the weeds.
