—Confinement you say?
—Pain for our faithful believers, I mean!
—It is, darling, that’s why you exist.
Before anything else, this was a life changer. Kiara was able to keep her memories, yet, in turn, that haunted her like a curse. This place of nothingness, had none of the colors from the real world. Nothing she enjoyed was anymore in here. Every wrong action, had a direct punishment, and evading that heavenly law wasn’t possible.
—Whatever... I’ve got nothing better to do here, anyway.
New Mission!
A small girl was sent by her mom to retrieve a package
from the closest convenience store. The place is a quiet town
where time goes by slowly. Protect the child, and ensure the
parcel is properly delivered by her.
Reward: 1P of Benevolence.
Accept Mission?
—Ah, yes, yes, accept... Wait, what is ‘Benevolence’?
Pop.
—WHAT THE-!?
Without any warning, K was teleported to the place where everything was going to take place. Of course, she had no more details than those reported on the letter from before… And time was ticking, not caring in the least for her shock.
—Agh! That b*tch…!
A strange sensation came up from her lower spine, as if signaling a warning from her words and actions. Maybe the superior was actually looking pretty closely…
—I meant to say… Where’s that kiddo?
While looking from side to side, a feeling of nostalgia stuck in. This was her original world. Not exactly the urban settlement she lived in but… Much closer to it than Heaven would ever be.
—I have to go quick, quick… One, two, one two!
An energetic voice took her interest. That person had a weird light to it. Maybe she was the girl she needed to help? Nah, it was probably just a coincidence.
—It isn’t a coincidence, she’s your target, Kiara.
—Get out of my mind, I know!
—Just making sure of it. May the Heavens Bless you with the Light that Purges All Shadows.
(What the heck was that last sentence… Anyway, workey like a donkey…) Ironically, the uninterest she expressed was paramount… But still followed the little one around without question.
(Hm… So, the best route has some kind of nice fragrance to it… While bad pathways stink a lot. Wait, doesn’t this make me a dog!?) Kiara’s ramblings couldn’t be heard by the runner, who continued to increase speed progressively… Not a big deal for an angel with close to infinite stamina, though.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
(Oi, oi… Do we really have to go through a forest? This shit sure is-, ah, damn!) At the very last second, she got under the kid’s body… The little one slipped, and almost got an injury because of it; yet K’s quick judgement made it feel as if she got back up by the touch of ‘wind’.
—Waaah… Careful, careful… But I need to get to grandma’s house as soon as possible!
(That was close… Not like she was gonna die from it, but I’m sure that ogre-woman would yell at me if I let that happen…) While the last few steps were made, and the angel made sure her small peer got the package, she sighed in relief.
(Welp, that was eas-…) Something huge, that felt like a limb impacted on her while walking over the bridge. How? She was pretty sure anything from this world couldn’t interact with an angel. It was literally the only thing she paid attention to in classes; since she wanted to steal some stuff if she ever came back here… So why?
(Sh*t… What the Hell!?) Not having it, the former traitor, former criminal, and former murderer, decided to took matters into her own hands… Yet some 10-meter tall being stood in front of her… A pitch-black entity. This was unheard of.
—Haha… A shadow, yah? I’ve been blown to pieces once! Your damn unwashed hands ain’t doing anything against me, are ya hearing this out!?
Her confidence was as high as the unknown peer. But unable to even move, one finger made the whole body of the woman tremble, contort, and finally impact a house. People remained unscathed, and the building stood untouched, yet Kiara started spiting blood.
—Ah… Hell yeah! That’s what I’m talking about, bring it all you bastar-
That sentence fell short as this time it was one of her legs which ended up being torned off. Even a smile of absolute madness like that couldn’t keep up. It flew like a hurricane into the wind, never to be seen again.
—FUUUUUUUUUC-!
The injured angel’s head was elevated now, as if she was some kind of doll… And played with. As killing intent started flowing from within her, those pearly white wings started dyeing into a black color, which resembled the dark fur that foe had.
(I cannot move… I cannot speak… I feel like sh*t… Damn you, monster). Her mind started to wander somewhere else. Was even a second death possible? In that case, where would she even go this time? Kiara had a corporeal body no more, and above all… Nothing had changed. If a new chapter to this story about a dumb killer was to ever start, now it came to an end.
