Chapter 4: The Watchers

Chapter 4: The Watchers

During this period, Samael’s influence soared to unparalleled heights. He took great pride in his achievements and the admiration he had garnered, relishing the stature he had attained. Despite this, Samael consistently offered praise to the Creator, his words filled with reverence and his actions seemingly devoted. Yet, the Creator saw deeper into the heart of His beloved heavenly child.

The dark core’s quiet influence seemed to grow stronger as Samael's brilliance continued to rise. With each increase in his radiance, the shadows within him deepened, becoming more pronounced alongside his light.

Meanwhile, Samael’s visions captivated the celestial realms, sparking eager discussions among the angels. Some members of the High Council found his rising fame worrisome and troubling, but still, many angels sought his guidance, drawn by his eloquence and charisma. They offered their patronage in hopes of aligning themselves with his growing prominence. With each passing day, Samael’s presence expanded, and his following multiplied.

It was at this moment that the Creator knew the time had come to set His greater plan into motion.

In the third sphere, where many angels resided, the Creator saw the need for greater organization and structure to fulfill His plan. He commanded the High Council to select and appoint angels to a newly established position—the Watchers. These angels were to remain on standby, awaiting further instructions.

As a result, the Watchers became the lowest rank within the third sphere at that time. This title was given to those tasked with watching, waiting, and serving as the Creator’s eyes and ears, always prepared for whatever might arise.

The High Council complied immediately, though their minds were full of questions. They were eager to understand the Creator's intentions but dared not ask, knowing their role was to follow His will without hesitation.

Samael, upon hearing of the Watchers' creation, sensed that his Heavenly Father was setting the stage for something significant. A faint unease stirred within him, the whispers of shadowy thoughts he could not yet fully comprehend. But ever perceptive and opportunistic, he saw this new rank as fertile ground to extend his influence.

Seizing the moment, Samael made it his mission to connect with the newly appointed Watchers. He approached them with a calculated charm, presenting himself as a mentor and guide. His eloquent words painted visions of purpose and destiny, igniting hope and ambition in the hearts of these fledgling angels. The Watchers, captivated by Samael’s charisma and inspired by his fervor, began to revere him as more than a leader—they saw him as a beacon of strength and vision.

This growth was no accident; it was the Creator’s foresight coming to fruition. The divine plan was steadily unfolding, setting the stage for a pivotal moment—a moment when all His heavenly children would face a choice, a choice from which there would be no return, accompanied by consequences of equal weight.

Returning from an individual mission assigned by the High Council, Michael stepped back into the celestial realm, his heart lightened at the sight of his brother. With a warm embrace, he greeted Samael, his admiration evident.

“Samael,” Michael said with sincerity, “your work has been an inspiration to many. You’ve brought unity and purpose to those who follow your lead. The heavens shine all the brighter because of your dedication.”

Samael received the praise with his characteristic charm, a radiant smile concealing the darker, unspoken desires taking root within him. While he appreciated Michael’s recognition, it was insufficient. He longed for more—greater power, deeper admiration, and a brilliance that eclipsed all others. It wasn’t enough. He yearned to ascend even higher.

“Brother, it’s been far too long,” Samael replied, his tone warm but laced with a subtle undertone. “So, you’ve heard of the stirrings? I have plans, Michael—greater plans for the heavens. The time has come for change.”

Michael, trusting as always, embraced his celestial brother once more. “Tell me more about these plans of yours,” he said, intrigued but unsuspecting.

Samael’s smile widened, his gaze thoughtful. “Patience, brother,” he replied, his tone light but purposeful. “First, tell me of your adventures. Surely you’ve gathered tales worth sharing.”

The two celestial brothers spent hours in each other’s company, catching up on their respective journeys. Michael spoke of his challenges and victories, his loyalty to the Creator shining through each word. Samael listened intently, his questions calculated yet thoughtful, all while carefully gauging his brother’s perspective.

After some time, Samael tested the waters, his tone light yet layered with suggestion. “Brother, don’t you ever think Heaven could use something... more? A spark, a change perhaps?”

Michael frowned slightly, his confusion evident. “What do you mean, Samael? Heaven is perfect as it is. We are well-organized, at peace, and devoted to our Heavenly Father. I don’t see the need for anything more.”

“That’s exactly what I mean, Michael" Samael replied, his voice taking on a persuasive edge. “We live in constancy, unchanging. Don’t you ever wonder if there could be more? Something beyond this eternal sameness?”

Michael shook his head, his conviction steady. “No, brother. I am content. I am happy to serve our Heavenly Father, and that is all I need. Isn’t that the same for you?”

"Of course, brother," Samael replied, his voice calm and assuring as he softened his tone. "I am happy. I love our Heavenly Father with all my heart.” Yet, as he spoke, Samael was acutely aware that Michael could never truly grasp the depth of his feelings. Michael’s unwavering faith and simplicity blinded him to the more complex ideals stirring within Samael. Michael, in all his sincerity, could never see what Samael had become—someone driven by ambition, yearning for something beyond the peace and order that satisfied Michael.

Realizing this, Samael skillfully shifted the conversation back to safer ground, He carefully presented himself as being aligned with Michael’s view of Heaven, appearing devoted and content. But beneath the surface, Samael’s ambitions burned quietly, growing in intensity as he bided his time, waiting for the perfect moment to seize what he truly craved.
