Love existed even before the creation of humanity. Found in the sky were angels faithful and true to their Creator and His realm. One day the Creator made a man in His own image, and from the man a woman, not all in heaven was pleased. "I can't let these creatures take His heart," Samael said, his voice sharp with envy. "Aren't we enough? We've served Him faithfully—why should they be special?" As Samael turned away, his love twisted into hatred, and darkness overtook him. It was the last day he would ever be the angel of light. "What have you done, Samael?" Michael asked, realizing his brother had turned against them. "I took two lives—and I will not hesitate to kill more if it brings His love back to us," Samael replied. "If I must burn, they'll burn with me. He should only yearn for us, just as we yearn for Him." That day will never be forgotten, for one great angel has fallen.
