Chapter 7: Earth Science

Chapter 7: Earth Science

While I received multiple love letters in the following 2 weeks, Gowa’s confession stayed in my mind. She was so upfront that I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

I looked in my desk, and a flood of letters came out. I looked to Emi and said,

“This is a bit much…” Emi looked at me, and said,

“I almost feel bad for you.” Yeah, Emi lost a bit of what made her cute. She put a lot more work into her studies, and didn’t really care about anything else.

“Iro!” I heard from behind me, “Iro I did it!” It was Ikough (ee-cough). He was a boy at the academy who was eager to learn magic. He tells me it’s so that he doesn’t waste his life away, but I feel like I can just assume it’s for girls from his attitude.

“Hey Ikough! What happened?” I asked.

“I shortened my chant, while retaining my power!”

“Nice! Now you just have to improve that power.”

“You got it!”

“One more thing!” I said, handing him one of my love letters, “For motivation.”

Ikough took it and ran. To my left I heard Emi say,

“He’s probably gonna worship it or something.”

“You’re right.”

One Month After Gowa’s Confession

I woke up to a knock on my door. Not to my surprise, it was Gowa. I invited her in once again.

Today I had to decide what I was going to do. Was I going to accept Gowa or not?

“So, what’s your answer?” Gowa said, holding her hands in a sort of praying position.

I thought about it.

It might help my credibility for political gain if I have a partner. I can’t forget that I’m here to accomplish my goal.

I asked Gowa one more thing,

“What’s your family like?”

“Well… My parents are the king and queen…”

Well of course that would help my political gain!

“But… I don’t want you to make a decision based off of that… That’s why I didn’t tell you at first…”

“I’ve made my decision. I accept your love Gowa.”

Gowa’s face lit up.

“Really?” Gowa asked,

“Yup!” I answered.

----------------------------------------

“Gowa?”

“Yeah Iro?”

“Why did you wait the entire day for me to get back to my room?”

Gowa paused. She was sitting in the middle of my room. Even though I let her stay there to collect her things at sunrise, she was still there a little while before sunset. If she left the room at all the door would auto-lock, meaning that Gowa had stayed in this room for the entire day.

“Because I wanted to say…” Gowa waited, “Welcome home!”

I looked at her. It was really cute, but why all that waiting just to say welcome home?

“Here.” I tossed Gowa a spare key. “You don’t have to deprive yourself of anything entertaining.”

“It’s been fun here! I, um… Made tea! Yeah, I made tea, which kept me entertained!”

“Really Gowa, just use the key from now on.”

“Really? Alright…” Gowa almost seemed disappointed.

“Anyways, Gowa, you said you wanted to do something after I got home from school?”

“Yeah… Iro…” Gowa stopped.

“Yeah?” I checked to see that she was still paying attention,

“Iro… Could you teach me how to do magic?”

To be honest, I think Gowa would be better off without magic. It can be too much for most people. That’s my theory at least. My theory is that Akafmowa knew this, and took me dealing with a close friend dying as proof that I can handle magic.

But before I could say no to Gowa, she gave me a face I couldn’t ignore, a face of, “Please… I beg of you…” it was too cute to ignore!

Come on Iro. You know that she isn’t ready for this kind of magic. She isn’t even deemed ready for a basic fireball yet. Let alone professional magic.

I got a hold of myself, and told Gowa.

“Gowa, there’s a reason that the Magic Academy normally only allows beginning students aged 14-16. Magic isn’t that simple. There’s layers of knowledge required for each spell.”

“But you…”

“Gowa, I’ve been through a lot. That’s why I got a hold of magic. Because I have knowledge not many people have. Even if others possessed it, it would be dangerous beyond belief. I may not look like it, but I could probably be considered a state secret.”

“How would you be considered-”

“This'' I pulled out a gun. That’s right. A gun. Due to my tendencies back on earth, I had a habit of researching things until I could reconstruct them. This was because of the otaku in me. I watched enough anime to have watched most large isekai anime. I thought about what I would do if I was isekaied. So when I was bored, I would prepare for this isekai. I never thought I would actually get isekaied though.

The only difference between this gun and one you would normally find on earth, was that the bullets were made of the same kind of stuff a sponge is made of.

I showed Gowa the gun. I pulled out a target I had in storage, and put it up on the opposite wall of me and Gowa.

I pulled Gowa close so that she wouldn’t get hit by the gun, and shot the gun at the target.

“Is that… Magic?” Gowa asked,

“That’s what makes it special. It’s not magic.” I responded,

“Really? Wait, that means…”

“If you were to combine it with magic.”

“You could make the most powerful weapon in the world.” Me and Gowa said in unison.

“So that’s why,” I said, “My type of magic cannot be shared. I get my magic power in unconventional ways that if people knew about, could end up in world war.”

“World… War?”

“Yeah.”

I figured this was probably enough, so I told Gowa I was going to make tea, ending the conversation on hand.
