Chapter 01 : The Re-emergence

Chapter 01 : The Re-emergence

On a mysterious non spherical emerald planet, a vicious war was about to begin. Two highly diverse armies were ready to face eachother in a huge barren battlefield proliferating with light green short blades of grass.

One comprised of red armored, orange and dark blue haired warriors wielding all sorts of medieval silver weaponry while their faces brimmed with hesitancy and tension almost as if they were forced to take part in this war.

The other side had two types of races blending in with one another because of a common bloodlust oozing out from their postures. Those resembling humans had thick black armor and weapons with dark aura radiating from them. While the other more monstrous looking race was blurred from the view with the help of a certain black fog.

Immediately after a loud siren, both sides charged at each other and swiftly soaked the ground with deep red blood. It was a scene of total chaos as the dark armored combatants had the support of large clawed and lush haired monsters at their side. The red armors were brutally ripped apart and copious amounts of their remains scattered everywhere. In the centre, a middle aged man with grey hair surrounded by a strange red aura collided his sharp blade with the large scythe of a tall muscular man with long black hair surrounded by a very demonic and cursed purple aura.

The man stressed, "Why do you want bloodshed? Why can't we all just live in peace?"

The dark man chuckled.

"Peace? That's impossible to achieve. The cycle can't be broken."

"Hoshi! ....Hoshi wake up!" A familiar loud voice haunted the house.

"Huh? What was that dream?" Hoshi quickly jumped out of his bed and asked himself in confusion.

"Damn it boy! You coming here or what?" Someone shouted in the hallway.

"Just a moment father! I am coming!" Hoshi replied while putting on his scarf and pale blue boots before tracing the voice's origin.

"Yes father, you called." He greeted his father.

"Yes. It is our training day remember? Hurry up and get ready!" Ander ordered.

"No military stuff today?" inquired Hoshi.

"Not at the moment, why?"

"Ever since you founded it two years back, your free time has gradually been declining. What do you do there anyways? Its not like we get attacked or anything," questioned Hoshi.

"We are preparing for such an attack. As the Head of Exilir Ultima, I must not slack off training my soldiers. Leave that for now, today it's just the two of us," answered Ander, firmly.

Excited by his father's words, Hoshi swiftly ran into his room and grabbed his wooden sword.

"Let's go to the Lake again, it is about time I told you something." Ander patted his son as both set out of their wooden house.

Exilir was a huge light orange planet where only male inhabitants called Exilirians lived in peace and harmony. Exilirians were people with pale skins and long sharp hair of diverse shades of orange and red. They never aged, never reproduced and never died naturally. The heart of this planet was covered by large mountains and vast yellow forests connected with long running streams of rivers. Small cottages built from wood and metal were widespread. The people mostly were farmers and very less signed up for the military, the only organization of defense on the planet. The military's main role was to defend the planet from alien and native threats to maintain order.

"So Father... I just saw a weird dream," Hoshi mumbled.

"What dream? speak loudly my son." Ander comforted.

"I saw an odd planet where a war was taking place," Hoshi stated.

Ander halted and asked with an anxious glare, "What else?"

"I saw countless bodies falling, two different looking sides fighting with extreme solemnity like that fight determined the future," Hoshi recalled.

"What? Do you remember what any of them said?" Ander clearly looked perturbed as if his son's dream was familiar.

"All that I remember is that a person with a red glow around him collided with a dark haired brute. They talked and I heard something about a cycle?" Hoshi replied.

"Why are you getting these dreams? Is this a sign?" Ander faltered.

"Something wrong?" Hoshi stressed.

"Hurry! I will tell you at the lake!" Ander stammered as he squeezed his son's hand and made haste towards the Thurishmi lake, an ancient rainbow coloured lake with many stories sunken in its depths.

As both father and son crossed the dense forest, they arrived at the lake. Ander sat down on a chopped off seat made from a thick trunk of a tree and took a deep breath.

"So.. father you wanted to tell me something?"

"This lake was created when our ancestor, our creator landed on our planet. His collision with this soil erupted the water running in this planet's core and it never gone sparse once. This is the place our existence started, so I decided this is the place you will know something important about yours. We don't have much time so listen carefully," Ander began.

"Yes father you have my attention." Hoshi settled.

"That dream you saw was real. You and I are not just regular exilirians," Ander revealed.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"What?.... what do you mean?" Hoshi perplexed.

"You have always asked why you are the only child on this entire planet. The truth is, we are both the direct descendants of Haroshuma, one of the four heirs. He is one of the generals you saw in your dream. He...."

Another tall Exilirian of roughly the same age as Ander, wearing tight white robes with a blue scarf, suddenly came rushing and interrupted the conversation.

"Sir Ander! we need you at the HQ immediately! Something unusual and tragic just happened!" He swiftly addressed, gasping for breath after running all the way here.

He was Commander Dekin, the head of the military's recon team.

"Is it really that important Commander?" Ander asked.

"Yes! We don't have time! Hurry!" Dekin emphasized.

"(Why now? After I mustered up the courage to finally tell him). I have to go, you head back home and stay there until I come back." Ander ordered and left in a hurry, leaving Hoshi astonished at the lake.

"What was that? Does that have to do anything with the dream I just had? What if that means danger? I have to see for myself!" Hoshi muttered.

"But.... Father will not let me in.. What should I do... should I just head home?.. No! I have to know the truth!" His mind filled with determination as he ran towards the military base from another route.

The military base known as the Exilir Ultima HQ, was the only base, besides small patrol camps, on the entire planet. This was because most of Exilir's population resided in that area alone. The preferred means of battle to defend their home was associated with using swords, spears, battle axes, bows, crossbows, catapults, cannons, and bombs.

Hoshi was the only person of his age on the entire planet and also aged like normal, with the reason being unknown. He mainly spent his time in his home thinking about his origin. He and his father used to quarrel over this exact topic but Ander never revealed anything to him and always said, "This isn't the time." It was certain some deep and dark truth was hidden in his mind that he couldn't reveal because of an uncanny reason.

Ander and Dekin arrived at the Exilir Ultima's base of operations which was a large metal fortress with an abundance of armed security wielding swords, crossbows, halberds and spears guarding a large wooden bridge which had to be lowered in order for them to cross a massive chasm below. There was a hill at 45° to the left and the entire fortress was visible from it, Hoshi climbed that hill and sat under a well shaded tree to monitor his father. Ander and Dekin were rushing towards the recon monitoring department at the right side of the fortress.

"(What was so urgent all of a sudden? We never got any serious threats until now)" Hoshi pondered.

Upon entering the recon monitoring department, which was an extended room filled with maps, paper and peculiar looking boxes lying at the various long wooden tables, the long faces of confusion and sorrow were apparent everywhere.

"What's going on here? What happened?" Ander questioned.

"Sir.... I don't know how to tell you this..... but .. our recon team Alpha just used a red box to send us a distress signal and a note," Dekin reported with hesitation.

"What!? We haven't used those since we founded this damn military! What was the note?" Ander fretted.

"Before that, check this out." Dekin lifted up a box lying on a large black table and tossed its contents on it.

"What the hell!? Who did this!?" Ander started sweating after he saw a severed off arm with some blood still spewing from it suggesting the cut was fresh.

"Check out this note." Dekin handed over a torn out piece of paper to Ander, who began reading it right away.

"Command! We were completely overwhelmed by menacing looking monsters! They had black hair, purple horns, some had tails and some didn't and they ripped our whole team apart, limb by limb. I managed to flee and got the opportunity to write this note by the blood of my deceased comrade that I managed to carry out with me. Those monsters weren't satisfied even after brutally killing us as they began devouring the fallen! One of them was even speaking in a deep, dark and possessed voice, he was much taller, more muscular and he had his thoracic and skull bones sticking out of his body and face. An ominous purple aura surrounded him as his eyes glowed purple. Please hurry up and save me! My location is......"

"He hastily used one of the ten red boxes and sent his note here. The monsters must have gotten him and ripped off his arm at the last second," Dekin snivelled.

"Oh God..... We are doomed... They are back." Ander trembled.

"Sir, what do you mean? Who is?"

"The Xandarian legion! The demons! Hurry! We don't have much time, prepare every soldier for combat and evacuate the settlement to our underground vault!"

"At once! I will initiate the preparations now! May Haroshuma help us." Dekin prayed.

"I am counting on you, Commander. I need to go tell Hoshi, it's time for his journey to begin." Ander rushed outside.

Hoshi, sitting and observing the fortress from above, saw each squadron leader instructing their soldiers to rush towards the armory to obtain lethal weapons and finally arrange themselves in rows.

"What is going on? Is a battle about to commence?" He perplexed.

A mysterious hand touched his shoulder as he was lost in thought.

"Hey kid. What are you doing here all alone?"

Hoshi startled and punched the person behind him.

"Oww! You damn brat, that hurt."

He glanced at the mysterious person's face and recognized it. "Oh it's you, Arien."

Arien, the only friend of Hoshi had a proud expression on his face with grey eyes. His usual get up involved loose yellow robes which went along his short, light orange hair. Ander wasn't aware of this little friendship.

"No apologies or nothing? Forget it, why are you here anyways?"

"See for yourself." Hoshi pointed at the fortress.

"Woah. Are they preparing for some kind of a battle?" puzzled Arien.

"Sure seems like it, I wonder what's wrong. We never get any serious treats here," Hoshi replied.

"Yeah but they sure look serious. This could be a vexing matter," Arien worried.

"Look! It's my father, he is exiting the fortress." Hoshi noticed his father swiftly moving towards the exit.

"You should probably ask him what's up. I am going to chill here for a bit," Arien suggested.

"Yeah but he ordered me to go home so I can't meet him here, he will be mad."

"Yeah your old man can get really angry sometimes. He gives me the creeps," Arien shivered.

"Oh no! He steered towards the direction of my house! I have to hurry before him!" Hoshi shuddered.

"You better hurry kid. He looks pissed."

"Wait before I go, what were you doing here?" Hoshi queried.

"I umm, kinda followed you and your father here," Arien admitted while rubbing his head.

"If he finds out, he will kill you," Hoshi jeered.

"Oh thats why keep this a secret will ya. He said some really weird things at the lake, make sure to tell me more soon Alright?" Arien chatted.

"I am not sure about that. Bye for now!" Hoshi turned around and jumped off the cliff.

"Alright kid, be careful." Waved Arien.

Hoshi passed the lake and cut through a dense forest as it was a shortcut to his house so that he could arrive faster than his father. After a few minutes, he rolled and hid himself behind a large tree as he started breathing heavily. His sharp ears helped him hear a minor growl of a monster who was sharpening his claws against each other. Hoshi took a peek from behind the tree and saw a large demon covered in black hair, massive horns and its maxilla was protruding outwards until its lower jaw. It's eyes were missing and the orbits were hollow suggesting it might be blind.

"(What the hell is that? He looks very similar to the ones I saw in my dream!)" Hoshi panted as his heart beat began overshooting.

The demon's senses besides its sights were very sharp as it grabbed Hoshi's presence from his heart beat and leaped towards him while slicing the tree he was hiding behind with its sharp claws. The tree fell and Hoshi had to roll out which unfortunately, exposed him. The demon kept sensing its prey's increasing heart rate as it roared and raised its claws at Hoshi so that he could rip him in half. The eyes of the targeted watered with tears of terror as he fell on his back and tried to crawl away.

"Father, father! Save me!" he yelled in desperation.

End of chapter one.
