Chapter 5: One last time (END)

The time passed quicker as I had thought, I made my way into the forest.

It was dark and foreboding, the trees looming over me like giant sentinels. The branches creaked and rustled in the wind, and the leaves rustled underfoot as I made my way deeper into the woods. It was as if it was alive and watching me with an eerie sense of anticipation.

The further I walked, the more I became aware of the strange and otherworldly presence that seemed to lurk here. The trees themselves seemed to be alive, their twisted limbs reaching out to ensnare me at every turn.

As I pushed through the dense undergrowth, the feeling of unease began to grow within me. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched, that there was something out there, lurking just beyond the shadows.

The forest seemed to go on forever, and the deeper I went, the more lost I became. The trees grew thicker, and the path became more treacherous, with gnarled roots and jagged rocks threatening to trip me at every turn.

Despite my growing fear, I pressed on, driven by an overwhelming sense of curiosity and a desire to uncover the truth. As I walked, I noticed strange markings etched into the bark of the trees, symbols and sigils that I couldn't decipher.

It was then that I heard the first whispers, soft and insidious, like the hiss of serpents in the grass. They seemed to be coming from all around me, a chorus of voices that spoke in languages I couldn't understand.

I tried to ignore them, to push them away, but they only grew louder and more insistent. It was as if the forest itself was alive with a malevolent force, one that sought to draw me deeper and deeper into its embrace.

Despite my growing fear, I pressed on, driven by a desire to uncover the secrets that lay hidden within the forest. I had come too far to turn back now, and I was determined to see this through to the end.

And so, I pushed on, deeper and deeper into the heart of the forest, until I came to a clearing. In the center of the clearing stood a towering tree, its bark black as night and its branches stretching towards the sky like fingers of death.

As I approached the tree, I could feel the weight of centuries of dark magic emanating from it. It was then that I knew I had come to the heart of the forest, the place where the dark magic that had haunted the town for generations had originated.

I stood there, staring up at the tree, a strange mix of awe and fear washing over me. The whispers grew louder, and I could feel the presence of something ancient and powerful surrounding me.

A gust of wind passed me, and I reached the river, where I was led to.

Awe and fear mixed within me as I gazed up at the tree, and the whispers grew louder. I could sense an ancient and powerful presence enveloping me, sending chills down my spine.

Suddenly, a gust of wind passed by, stirring the leaves and causing me to shiver. I knew I had to move on, to continue my journey towards the river. As I made my way through the forest, the whispers followed me, their insidious voices haunting my every step.

Eventually, I reached the river, where I felt a strange sense of calm wash over me. The whispers faded away, replaced by the soothing sound of the flowing water. For a moment, I felt like I had found sanctuary, a brief respite from the madness.

But I knew that it was only temporary. The darkness and the whispers still lurked around me, waiting for their chance to strike again.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Was this really the ghost of Bethany, or just my imagination playing tricks on me? But as I got closer, I could feel the chill in the air, and the whispers grew louder, confirming that she was indeed there.

“Bethany?”

No response.

I called out to her again, my voice trembling. "Bethany, is that you?" Still no response. I took a step closer, trying to get a better look.

then she turned around...

As she turned around, I was met with a ghastly sight. It was Bethany, or at least a twisted version of her as she turned around, her face seemed to shift, as if struggling to settle on a single form. I couldn't tell which face was real and her fingers instantaneously grew longer, resembling claws.

I stumbled back. “Show who you really are.”

The figure let out a deep, guttural laugh, and then spoke in a voice that seemed to come from all around me.

"You want to see who I really am?" it said. "Are you sure you can handle the truth?"

Despite my fear, I nodded my head, determined to see this through to the end.

The figure then lifted its hands, and in a sudden burst of light, its true form was revealed. It was the lady all along, she had a pale, sunken face, with dark circles under her eyes that seemed to go on forever. Her once flowing hair was now matted and tangled, and her clothes hung off her emaciated frame. But there was something else, something more sinister about her.

the lady let out a bloodcurdling scream and lunged at me with inhuman speed.

I let out a scream of pain as the creature's claws dug deep into my flesh, tearing muscle and tendons. I could feel warm blood trickling down my arm as I tried to push her away. "What do you want from me?" I yelled, struggling to break free. The creature just grinned, its jagged teeth gleaming in the moonlight.

As the creature began to feed on my blood, I felt myself growing weaker and weaker. My vision began to blur, and my body felt heavy. The pain was overwhelming, but somehow, I managed to gather the strength to push the creature away. As it stumbled backwards, I collapsed to the ground, gasping for air. I knew I needed to get help, but my body felt like dead weight, and darkness was creeping in at the edges of my vision.

But then I remembered the amulet around my neck.

The amulet glowing brightly in response to my touch. The creature hissed and recoiled, clearly affected by the amulet's power. I could feel my wounds closing, the pain ebbing away as the amulet's magic worked to heal me.

At that moment, the sky broke open and lightning crackled.

And creature started fading away like sand in the breeze.

It let out a final blood-curdling cry of pain. The sound echoed through the night, I was left lying on the ground, battered, and bloodied but alive. I breathed a deep sigh of relief and looked up at the sky, where the storm was now subsiding.

I also feeling grateful to be alive. It was then that I realized the amulet`s power and knew that it would always be by my side.

That was my last encounter with the entity.
