One Down...

The Tyranaut’s 25 meter body rocketed toward the tall grass, the earth shuddering under each of its steps. I quietly slink away from the area the human is in, as the general direction of the Tyranaut is there. The Tyranaut’s sensors picked up my form in the grass, but it ignored me for the more threatening option. It lowers its head close to the ground, making its actions appear like a steam engine train.

The human didn’t let this overwhelm it, and dashed out of the tall grass as fast as it could. The weapon in its hands pointed towards the Tyranaut as the human barely dodges the Tyranaut’s charge.

I continue to carefully head towards the corpse of the Drynog. Since the Tyranaut was now busy, I might as well eat an upgrade for myself. The human has such impeccable timing, giving me a chance to better myself. I reach the corpse after a few moments and turn my eyes towards the battle between human and machine.

The Tyranaut was losing with a 40% chance of winning. A launcher on its back was already blown off, the other launcher damaged slightly. Its leg was also limping slightly, pieces of metal littered across the ground.

The human was running across the terrain, dodging behind trees and boulders to get an advantage of unpredictable attacks. Now that I could get a better look at the human, I realize its thin stature was due to its gender. It was a female of the human race. These fleshy beings are so odd.

I turn back to my meal and dig into its power source, the energy coursing through me. The sweet nectar was delicious when its just been turned off. A feeling of bliss runs through my circuits.

An explosion turns my enamored mind towards the battle of the predators. The female appears to be winning, deploying a weapon that drags the weight of the Tyranaut down. The suspension system in the Tyranaut creaks from the forces of the might the Tyranaut exhibits. It lowers itself to one knee, the creaking turning to audible snaps.

The human female doesn’t waste a chance at the Tyranaut’s expense, and shoots a projectile that electrifies the systems of the Tyranaut. The machine falls heavily to the side, the snapping of cables audible across the small opening in the forest. The female rushes up to an exposed side of the Tyranaut, and with excellent precision thrusts a spear into the power source of the once mighty Tyranaut.

Watching the downfall of the Tyranaut, I realize I have no chance against such a human. So I run and hide in the forest. Hiding behind a tree, I act like I saw and heard nothing.

The human female laughs aloud, and withdraws her spear. Stepping away from the dead Tyranaut, she wipes her brow and looks at the Drynog. Its long neck obscures me from her vision but not my own. She turns and walks away from the carnage she wrought, and I’m mighty fine with that.

After she leaves with her belongings, I scamper towards the heart of the Tyranaut and drink my fill of the sweet nectar. I push my head in deeper, and I find something rather peculiar. I eat the data collected in the peculiar cube, more information flowing into my mind. But it only contains the data pertaining towards the Tyranaut’s life.

How odd.

I burrow my way through the Tyranaut’s head, finding no other cubes with that odd data. Leaping out of the mouth of the Tyranaut, my foot becomes stuck on its bladed teeth. With a slight nudge from my head, I am freed from an odd situation and I rush towards the body of the Drynog. I leap into its body to try to find the cube I found in the Tyranaut, but I couldn’t find it at the nectar heart.

I jump back out of the Drynog. Using my sensors, I activate my [Full Area Search] and look across and around its body. The [Full Area Search] allows me to do exactly as it says, but I narrow the function to just the Drynog’s carcass.

I discover the cube near its head, but the difference in placement of the body is odd already. The origin of the cubes makes me question my own life and placement of my cube. What function besides memory storage does it have?

I shake my head, and proceed towards the head of the Drynog. The head is massive though, disc shaped and similar thickness to a human’s body as well. I walk towards the cube, and bury my head into the spot of the cube.

I begin to eat the data of the Drynog, its memories flowing through my mind. It’s a bitter taste compared to the Tyranauts, but I suffer through eating the data. The mysteries of the body intrigue me. So different, yet the same.

[Experience Acquired]

A feeling of power pours through my body, an electrifying feeling powers itself through my body. My tail waves back and forth, my legs stomp the ground.

[Evolution Process Initiated]

My eyesight is taken up by those words, and I soon notice flashing towards the upper portion of my eyes. It opens as soon as I notice, and all the data I’ve received from the Tyranaut and Drynog scroll across my eyes.

A selection process is then initiated, a variety of number appears and I try to choose the numbers but to no avail. My body begins to stiffen as I crawl towards the Drynogs body, but a sudden inexplicable urge turns me towards the Tyranaut.

I reach it at the slowest speed, my body sluggish and my eyesight dimming. I crawl into the burrowed area of the Tyranaut, and stop.
