To answer a previous statement, when did I ever say Sarah was the number one girl at the academy? She just happens to be the one Plat likes- in this world there are many beauties thanks to, wait for it, SCIENCE! Sarah is in the top tier I guess, but no where near the top.
As always, your comments and ratings help me write the story, so keep it up and thx
Anyway- back to the story!

"What do you mean you don't know! Aren't you the best at this?" Steel cried out in shock.
M.M. whacked him on the head again.
"Quiet boy, I'm trying to think. I didn't your parents teach you any manners? Respect you elders." She shot back at him.
Steel rubbed his head in annoyance, she aimed for the same spot as last time. "What parents, not like we have a familial connection or anything." He muttered to himself, "Caretaker raised us just fine I'll have you know."
"Quiet! I can't think with you making a gloomy atmosphere over there." Steel shut his mouth.
M.M. regarded the boy in front of her. He was special, him making it to her so early compared to the other travelers was proof enough. Sure, plenty of travelers had wanted to leave the city, but for their own amusement killing monsters and dreaming of adventure. Those characters held little honor and desire for growth, they wanted strength for their own amusement. Only special players would be given the quest from the guards, same in every city.
"Curious conditions for this boy." She thought to herself, "While he hasn't trained any of his stats, he has gained 3 new stats so quickly and a decent amount as well. Charm and Faith are no big deal, but 11 luck is unheard of in a rookie. Also, that skill of his is interesting, and that mysterious blessing as well. He has good relations with the guards, but a powder keg with the mages."
Steel watched the woman in front of him lean toward him, her eyes locked on his form. He took advantage of the view, as she was still plenty of attraction for her...experience.
Her eye narrowed suddenly, "Boy, you weren't thinking anything rude just now were you?" She said in a dangerous voice. Steel shook hi head back and forth quickly.
"No ma'am, nothing of the sort."
She nodded, "Good." She leaned back and considered him for a moment. She folded her hands in front of her, "Boy, at this time I cannot make an accurate assessment about you, mostly because of that unknown blessing you have on you."
Steel cursed in his head, (Son of a Biscuit!!) as he realized the blessing was continuing to mess with him.
She continued, ignoring his obvious distress, "Even taking the blessing away, you are an interesting case. You haven't worked on improving you stats, but you gained some and have an S rank skill so early in the game. The best I can tell you is to do something with the guards, at least you have a high relationship with them. Becoming a guard, merchant, farmer, or something else that communicates with the guard would be your best bet."
"Wait, there are professions besides combat related ones?" Steel asked in surprise.
M.M. snorted, "Of course boy, who makes the food in restaurants and in adventure parties? Who makes the armor used by the guard? Who weaves trees together to make staves for the mages? There are all kinds of class professions out there, and every single one of them is important and has their own rules. Merchants rank up and down according to their wealth, Cooks rely on customer feedback and competition. It's a big world out there, and there is a job for everyone."
Steel scratched his head, "That's neat to learn about and all, but I can't leave the city unless I get a class."
M.M. shook her head, "No, just meeting me and hearing my advice will let you leave the city. I'll give you a stamp to show the guard your ready. That being said, don't wander too far, you are still far to weak for any real adventure right now. I advise you use you weapons to fight monsters until your tired and then return here to rest." M.M. looked him and and down and frowned again, "Where are your weapons anyway, I know you should at least have some from the training hall.?"
Steel pulled the tower shield out from behind the chair and showed it to her. M.M. looked at it and laughed loudly.
"Hah ha ha ha, heh, really boy, you really are interesting, don't you know tower shields are the hardest shield in the world?"
Steel looked down embarrassed, "I like shields, and this was the only one they had left." He said sulking.
M.M. clapped his back with mirth, "Well, there was a reason for that, but I'm not faulting you boy, this just makes you more unique." She got up and smiled down at him, "Wait a moment boy, I'll be right back."
M.M. left the room, and a minute later the door swung open. She came back in carrying an older looking tower shield. "Here boy, this is much better than that wooden practice shield you have on you back. Consider it my thanks for an interesting experience. Also, take this old necklace of mine, I don't need it any more."
Quest completeNew jobYou have finished the quest, albeit with an unknown conclusion. Bonus added for being the first player to complete this quest. You have recieved: a tower shield, a necklace, a pass, and +200 experience points.
Hidden QuestThe God's BlessingAn unknown god or goddess blessed you, and you have no idea what it does. Figure who blessed you and what the blessing does. Failing this quest by forgetting to pray or committing crimes will result in loss of favor from the gods and a curse.
Steel held mixed feelings from the results. The rewards were great, he was excited to see what they would do, but the blessing kept popping up and interfering with his game. "Even in this world the gods like to play with my feelings." He muttered to himself, accepting the items from M.M.
She raised an eyebrow at at his words but said nothing.
"I'll leave you to look at my gift. Don't do anything stupid with them you here, otherwise I'll have to show why no one causes problems in my guild." A feeling of fear washed over Steel from the lady, he didn't need his instinct skill to tell him that crossing this woman would end his life. She left with a smile and a twirl of her skirt.
Shaking, Steel calmed himself down before inspecting the items in front of him. Thankfully, he could see their stats, otherwise he would have had to pay someone to identify them for him.
