Chapter 7: The basics of magic

----Leo's room----

"Oh god! We gotta hurry or we're gonna be late for the first lesson!“ Leo screamed at Elvin who was dressing in a hurry, so it didn't look that good. The same goes for Leo whose hair was messier than usual.

"I'm on it! Goddamn Leo, why did you continue sleeping instead of waking me up and getting ready!“ Elvin said as he put on the academy's uniform that they got sent during the night.

The first year's uniform from the primary class was a black robe with yellow stripes going all over that was pretty easy to move in. Beneath that was a black shirt with a sign which showed that they were first years and black pants. All in all, it looked normal, but it was actually more than that with multiple enchantments made by the academy's enchanter.

The enchantments were actually pretty simple ones, but are actually pretty tricky to make. The first one was 'Warming barrier' for the winter because a few classes were actually held outside. The second one was 'Minor damage reducement' so the students wouldn't be hurt much during spars. The third one was a minor mana regeneration spell and the fourth one a 'Minor Mana Regeneration' and the fourth one 'Minor Health Regeneration'. It all doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty hard and expensive to do that.

"I'm sorry! I'm used to sleeping long and thought it was still time."

As soon as both were ready they rushed out and ran towards the first year building as fast as they could.

---------

When they got there, the professor was already standing in the big room and glaring at Leo and Elvin, clearly annoyed and disappointed.

He looked to be in his late forties, had short brown hair and an average face.

"Who have we got here? Already late on the first day. Get in." When they came in they apologized and sat down in the third row. The room looked like a lecture hall from Leo's old world, but not as big.

The other students looked at them with disdain, some laughing, and others clearly not interested.

"Quiet. Now that everyone is here, why don't we introduce ourselves starting at the first row."

One after another, everyone introduced themselves and as she said her name, Leo realized it was Lenia, whom he hadn't seen since the Soul Ceremony.

"Hello, my name is Lenia Maniarus, I'm 10 years old and my magic power is at dark green." When she finished she sat down and smiled.

After a few more students and the king's son introducing themselves it was Elvin's turn.

"Hi, my name is Elvin Geyzel, I'm 10 years old and have magic power at the level of bright green." After he said that everyone looked at him with wide eyes.

-----

There are 11 different colors of magic power, each with 3 shades of color. Dark, normal and bright. Between each shades was a big difference, and between colors was an even bigger one. The colors are from worst to best: Gray, green, yellow, orange, red, blue, purple, silver, golden and white.

Even the teacher looked surprised. "It seems like our late comer is a genius among magicians. If you study and train well you will be a very good magician in the future."

As Elvin sat back down , Leo stood up and wondered if he should tell them the true color of his MP or if he should lie to them. He mind shrugged and started.

"Hi. I'm Leo Kuara, 10 years old and the color of my magic power is bright yellow" Leo said casually and sat back down again. Everyone, including Elvin and the teacher, gasped and looked at him unbelievingly until the teacher started speaking again.

"Student Leo, after arriving too late you still have the guts to tell lies. We will talk about this later, now tell us the truth."

"It is the truth, you can check for yourself." Leo said, when Agrius came to his seat and checked his magic power. His eyes opened wide and his jaw dropped.

"So you're the one chosen by the principal. It is quite spectacular, I've never heard of anyone with a bright yellow magic power at that age. I expect great things from you.". Everyone looked disbelievingly at Leo, but eventually calmed down when the teacher started talking again.

"Alright, now that you have introduced yourself, I will do it too. My name is Agrius Nagrar, I'm 48 years old and the color of my magic power is dark blue." He said proudly as everyone was looking at him in awe. Reaching blue magic power at the age before even his 50's is something only talented mages can achieve.

-------

After the introductions were done, the first class started.

"I will teach you the principles of magic in your first and second year. After that you will get more advanced magic classes. Now, let us begin."

"This," Sir Agrius held up his hand when- "is but a simple solidification of the power we call 'magic'." - a blue ball of pure magic popped up. It was about the size of a full-grown man's fist. "The size will be according to how much of your magic you will channel, and the color changes according to the color and purity of it." When he said that, the ball vanished and a way bigger ball popped up, about the size of a basketball.

Everybody stared at it with round eyes.

He threw the ball in the air and it popped into many stars, disappearing. "Each and every one of you will be able to do this at the end of the lesson. If you don't make it until then, you will be kicked out of my class." He said as he looked at everyone with a serious look.

"I will now show you how to do it, so listen closely. First you need to enter your own consciousness and study your weapon and the aura around it. When you feel a slight push from the aura, you will try to pull it out with you. After getting more familiar with the feeling, try compressing it into a ball. Begin." After he explained the technique to them, they started right away. For about 30 minutes the students were quietly concentrating, until there was an excited voice

"I did it! I can feel it." It was Lenia. Only a few, including Sir Agrius, reacted to it because they were to busy trying to do the same.

Sir Agrius was slightly excited as he said "Very good, student Lenia. You will be a very good mage in the future if you keep up with that."

"Oh? We were supposed to say something when we were done? Well, i was already done about 15 minutes ago or so. Look, I can already do this." The silver-haired boy said with a smirk.

The professor looked at him with an excited and amazed expression. The other students looked dumbfounded at him, clearly not believing what they saw.

"Student Leo, what you did was extraordinary talent that was only recorded a few times in our history. How could you do it so fast?" He asked Leo.

"Well I looked for that aura you told us and pulled it with me while waking up. Then I just thought of ball and it formed. I can do this too." He said while altering the ball in his hands so It was a pyramid.

'Well actually I had a little help with that stuff from Reaper so I guess it' s cheating? But who cares.' Leo thought to himself.

"This is truly amazing. Changing shapes is something you can only do with a lot of training. If you want, you can go already. I will personally report your achievements to the principal."

Leo nodded and left the room with a satisfied expression.

After the lesson was over, 9 people had to leave because they failed to perform what was asked of them.

--------------

--Principal's office--

"Truly amazing, that boy. I knew he would be a genius but that is just outright amazing. Even I wasn't able to do it in that time. You need to take good care of him. Thank you, Agrius." The principal said while sitting in her office with professor Agrius.
