For about 3 months, William and Wilson worked as a simple scout for the 51-1 as well as that, they killed. 20 people have been killed with clean execution. But succeeding in one only means to failing in the other. As that, William have become antisocial – at that, he no longer knows what common sense is and what absurdity is.
“Will, mate, have you noticed Cassandra is not really interested in us? Quite strange, isn’t it?”
“Do you remember the day we got True Zero? The thing it started it all – my lie of giving up. I think I’m going to give up on her. To my knowledge, she never liked me from the beginning. As well as that, you are the next big reason, mate. Do you know why?”

“Yeah, I figured you’d figure that out somehow.”
“Some say that one must listen to their deep consciousness. You’re the manifestation of what I know as perfect. But still, you’re only my reflection. It’s quite sad to think that you were my best bud. If Liz didn’t tell me to stop talking to myself, I wouldn’t have noticed. Welp, it was nice. Schizophrenia or not, it was nice.”
“Will, mate, try to make my dream come true. Even if I die, I’d still be in you. Keep your promise and don’t die alone – without anyone remembering you. Be significant, be yourself and be careful.”
As Wilson dies peacefully, or as peacefully as it gets, with a smile, William asks himself, “Who even am I?” After the incident, he goes to work as usual when an unexpected thing happens when Liz says,
“Aye, Will! Since you’re not from this district, I asked the council to transfer you to your district’s office. And since you’ve made tremendous progress so quickly, we also asked them to make you a Commanding Officer. But in your district’s office, it’s not big of a title. But here you go – your official papers on your promotion and transfer to 51-3, the Archive base.”
Samuel, “Quite ironic, isn’t it? You’ve been here for only 3 months and getting to the highest title as I’ve been here for the whole of my life and get to be this high as well. But, congratulations on getting to be a commanding officer and being one of the Elite 16 of the council.”
“Okay~ this is unexpected as well as kind of depressing. Not so long ago, I lost one of my friends and here I am, making use of his work to be at the top. But where is the Archive base anyway? And who is my partner in the district? It’s a quite big district, maybe I’m the 3rd one, eh?”
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Oh… Will, 51-3 is yours and only yours for the time being. The past commanding officer and the vice commander were killed not long ago, together. They were in a relationship of some sort and once one died, the other one sought revenge and got blinded by it. As a result, he died as well. We eventually captured the killer and gave it to 51-6 to have them be tortured. The incident caused another rule to be added to the rule book – no workspace relationships. It’s good for you, mate. You get to be in charge of 12 people under you all by yourself. 51-1 has a lot of people so we split the people and split it again to minimize our stress. Not for you though. You’ll be in charge of almost all of our financial reports as well as accounting all of our work progress and such. And you’ll be in charge of our past archives. Good luck on the job, mate.”
“Your office is very close to your home, about a kilometer away. Good luck, mate. I’ll see you on Thursday when we meet up and talk about the work of the week like the first job we got to do. See you then.”
“Thank you and be on your way. Today is Wednesday so that got to mean you’ll need to give me the reports of the week.”
The Archive base of the 51 is a misery in itself. The base got burned and blown up several times before and till this day, bombing of the newest base is underway. The past 8 commanding officers all died at the hands of those who had intent to kill. And out of the 25 or so past officers who died while working under 51, 1/3 of them are from the Archive base. Yet the base’s function is still bland. From the 4th time the base was blown up, the council made it the first passive base, meaning no killing, trading or selling of any merchandise as well as not taking any regular assassination orders. The passive operation of the base is just an archive with half of them being accountants.
“This is going to be a long day, isn’t it? Without Wilson, my life is going to a downhill spiral from here on out. And due to the limitations of the Archive base, I won’t be able to take orders”
*sigh*
“Welcome, Officer William! The Archive base greet you with pride and fear, how are you?”
“Good, I guess. This is a bit more energetic than I expected.”
“We are all elite officers from 51’s Main, Storage, CIC, Paper and Pillbox bases. The best there is that’s alive. Some, mostly 51-5 and 51-6, call this base the “13 tailed fox” rather than the “Archive base”.
“Speaking of, why are you guys “the elite”? Maybe some of you are older than me and more experienced. Is it acceptable to take command from someone inferior to you?”
“Don’t worry, mate. This is the Archive base; we don’t take orders here so we’re eternally at peace. Maybe this is the reason why our district has so few people. The rule in 51 is to be a part of your district’s office. Yet in my previous office, there were several high officers who were from this district. I, myself, am from this district. Even, everyone here is from this district. Strange, isn’t it?”
