Tony was confused, staring at his lover, who only had eyes for the man he kept pinned to the ground. The Winter Soldier struggled at this sign of weakness, trying to throw Stark off, but he just delivered another punch, to keep the beast from escaping. He was however surprised, when Rogers tried to reason with the man: "Tony no! Don't hit him. Bucky, please, stop this, this isn't you.“ The Winter Soldier shouted: "Shut up!“ Tears still streaming, Cap pleaded: "Bucky please!“ Tony looked over to him, but had to pay attention, as the man struggled again. Iron Man pummeled him, yelling angry: "You killed my mom!“ Steve tried to keep him back: "Tony, wait.“, but he reminded his love: "Steve, you're hurt. The bastard hurt you!“

However, Cap wasn't hearing him, turning from Tony to the soldier: "Please, it's him, I know it's him. Bucky, please remember, remember!“ The Winter Soldier looked up at the man sitting on his chest and the man leaning down, beaming at him with pleading eyes. He seemed more unsure. Cap tried a new approach: "Bucky, you promised! You said you'd be there for me! You said you'll never hurt me! Stop it!“ Trying to lift the vibranium arm, the man roared: "There is no Bucky! I... Get off me!“ "Bucky please remember!“, Steve got desperate, yet the Winter Soldier insisted: "He is dead!!“

Tony, getting frustrated, pointed a repulsor at the man's face: "Maybe his body should follow suit then!“ "Tony, please no!!”, Cap begged, turning to the other again, “Bucky. Bucky, remember me, please remember! You and me are friends. More than friends! You always wanted to protect me. Protect others, that is who you are!“ The soldier got quieter from his injuries, and cried out: "I don't know you! I don't know any Bucky. I'm not Bucky. I'm noone!“

Falcon and War Machine finally made it to the scene. Sam, confused at the situation, immediately asked: "What's happening?“ But Steve just put a hand on the soldier's chest, to insist: "Bucky, please. You said, we'll be together. Till the end of the line! Remember it!“ Tony felt the man under him relax a bit, eyes getting wider, but still confused, now only looking at Steve, who softly whispered: "Please baby... I love you!“ Rhodey, eyes getting big, gasped: "The fuck?“ And hurt, Tony agreed: "That's what I'm thinking!“ Steve looked lost at him. The man seemed to think, his eyes getting watery, but though confused, the Winter Soldier repeated: "No. No. There is no Bucky. I'm not him. I'm dead. He's dead.“

Cap didn't give up: "Please Bucky! Baby...“, and brushed over the man's bruised cheek. The soldier flinched. Then it seemed like his eyes changed, and he asked: "Steve?“ "Yes, yes, Bucky, do you know who I am? Please remember, remember!“, Steve got excited. And no longer resisting, Bucky whimpered: "Stevie? What have I done? What have I done?“ At that point, Iron Man snapped at the others: "Get him! And get him away from me!“ War Machine took hold of his enemy right away, with Falcon joining in, administering a strong knock-out-drug, to help seize the Winter Soldier.

Staggering to get up, Steve wanted to hold on to him: "No, no wait, he's my friend...“, but Tony put himself in front of him, snapping: "And what am I?“ Cap looked at him, confused, eyes wet, unable to say anything. And then, War Machine took off, to bring the Winter Soldier back to headquarters. Iron Man stepped past Steve and flew away too, just up and gone. He tried to call after him: "Tony, wait!“, but the metal man wouldn't even turn around. Instead, Sam put a hand on his shoulder, stating: "Cap, come here, you're wounded!“

Just then, Clint and Nat showed up on a motorcycle. Black Widow teased: "What, did we miss the fun?“, with Hawkeye joining in: "We should have told them to wait up..." But when they saw Steve, they shut up. He broke down crying, unable to talk, or answer to anything. Didn't even feel the glass shard Sam removed from his arm. Clint held him, and Nat took care of Sharon, who stated laconically: “This wasn't what I had in mind for my aunt!“

Steve suddenly panicked: "Don't kill him, don't kill him, please don't kill him, you have to promise, no, don't do it, please...“ Clint did his best to comfort him: "We wont kill him, alright? We wont!“, and Sam gave him something to calm down, adjusting the dosage when he wouldn't react. Just as Cap passed out he whispered: “Please don't kill him. Just don't kill him. I don't want to lose him again!"
