Chapter 3. Our Obstacles

VIBRA ZIONIANTI

Ahseru: Now then, show me what you all got, starting with you CD Girl!

He called out as he pointed at me.

Vibra: Hm? Me?

Ahseru: Yes, you. There will be three judges. The Student Guidance councillor, me and Modern Literature teacher, just look they're over there.

He proceeded to now point at the judges seat, filled with Earphone Jack, who was waving at us with a smile, an empty chair and a hero I've never seen before.

Ahseru: Now come on! Get on the stage!

Oh my goodness gracious.

My name is Vibra Zionianti. I am from a foreign country, so my name is not of Japanese descent. I am also unfortunately the royalty of said country, being the youngest princess. A lot of girls on Television when I was young all said how much they would love to be a princess, but I don't see it.

Anyways! I just want to talk about what I'm doing in the quirk contest! Mr Ahseru decided to do a quirk contest as for us to showcase and know the limits of our quirks, and I'm all for it! I love having people showcase their quirks, quirks are amazing gifts from nature, so to have others display it like a piece in an art museum makes me happy.

I was to go first, I walked on the stage, I felt a few eyes staring at me as I got up, not much considering the usual thousands that do so.

Vibra: Hello my classmates! My name is Vibra Zionianti!

All in Unison: Hi, Zionianti Chan.

Jack: Okay, Zionianti Chan, love your hair by the way, why have you come to UA?

Vibra: Well, I am one of the two students that were recommended into UA. I wanted to go in since my hero, Shoto and Earphone Jack, went to this school.

Jack: Oh? And what makes them so special?

I noticed Ms. Jack was smugly smirking when she heard her name, almost like she was holding in a laugh.

Vibra: Well, they're very serious about what they do and they usually succeed at their job.

Other Teacher: Zoning.

Ahseru: What?

Jack: Is that so? *Giggle* Well, well, what's your quirk?

Vibra: Well I just- Actually can I show it off right now?

Jack: Uh..

She turned to the man in the afro.

Ahseru: Yeah, go about it.

Vibra: Thank you!

I proceeded to step back a bit and breathe. I needed to focus greatly. Where do I want to go? I looked up, there was a stage light on top, there were also other things hanging from the stage pillars. Makes sense to showcase my ability there? No?

I walked over to the stage pillar connected to the stage light. I wonder what my classmates were thinking, was it intrigue, wonder, perhaps even suspense? I hoped to satisfy them with what I was about to do.

I punched the stage light so hard to the point where my knuckles started beating like a heart, I closed my eyes and I could feel the vibrations waves from the pillar moving up and another one moving down. I imagined I was following the waves as the moved upward then onto the stage light. I was like a deer moving with a stampede. It felt just natural for me to do this. When I opened my eyes, I was on top of the stage light, the minutes of thought for me were merely 1.27 seconds to everyone else down there.

Jack: Wow! Isn't this nice?!

Ahseru: Groovy.

The other teacher gave a thumbs up as my classmates all awkwardly clapped for me. I kicked the metal bar of the Stage pillar and got down by teleporting that way. My quirk is that of Vibration Warping. It allows me to follow Vibration wave in order to teleport. It cannot put me INSIDE a wall, essentially, If I could describe it, it feels like shrinking and turning into a ball of light, then swimming or flying along the surface then when I meet the place I want to appear from, I grow back to normal size and stop being a ball of light. If the surface has gaps, then I could go through those gaps.

Anyways I just couldn't wait to see my other classmates. I sat back down at a chair. They lined up chairs for everyone to sit comfortably. Amazing how nice they can be, lining up chairs like this. I sat down next to this white haired boy with wavy hair and a big smile.

He turned to me, his smile not looking any bigger.

Zogaikotsu: Wow! Your quirk is cool! Teleportation can be good for flanking an enemy right!

Vibra: Yes I agree, It is a good strategy right?

Zogaikotsu: Obviously, but what would you do if a bad guy were to stop you from teleporting.

Vibra: Oh..I don't know.

Zogaikotsu: I have an idea! If a bad guy were a sneaky type, maybe bait them and make them think you're gonna teleport, making them go to you and you getting the upper hand!

Vibra: Hmmm! That sounds very interesting, friend, I will try that when I get the chance.

Zogaikotsu: Just giving advice for a fellow classmate is all.

Huh, this felt nice. The classmate right here was treating me as an equal rather than someone they look up to. Huh....that's rather new for me. Their advice is very nice too. Is this what a true friend feels like? Oh, I don't even know his name yet.

Vibra: What is your name?

Zogaikotsu: Huh? Oh it's Zogaikotsu, Tori Zogaikotsu and I-

He then turned back to the stage .

Zogaikotsu: Oh my god Jisakaru Chan is on stage!

I looked at the stage, that one brown hair girl was there. I talked with her during the Practical Exam and she seemed very friendly, even if she had a bad haircut.

Jack: Hello! What's your name?

Jisakaru: Hi....I'm Jishaku Jisakaru, and I magnetize. I don't want to but I kinda have to.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

She held up a can of soda and pointed at it with the most blank expression on her face, she seemed moody.

Jack: Could you...elaborate on don't want to?

Jisakaru: No.

Jack: Haha, I see.

Ahseru: Well, show us what you can do, Jisakaru.

Jisakaru: I'm gonna like- throw the can

She paused for a bit, it was awkwardly silent until Zogaikotsu here stood up from his chair

Zogaikotsu: YEAH JISAKARU CHAN! YOU CAN DO IT!

Jisakaru: Uh, thanks pal. Anywho.

She proceeded to step back and do a Baseball throw with the can, throwing it into the air. Before using some sort of telekinesis to have the can suddenly stop in mid air and go back into her arm

Jisakaru: Ta daa!

She had a slight smile on her face as she showcased the magnetized soda.

There was a clap among the class, that being Zogaikotsu's. There were a lot of claps for me too, so it's a bit sad to see Jisakaru here get the short end of the stick here with almost no clapping. I decided, out of the good of my heart, to clap with Zogaikotsu.Soon it was just two people clapping for one person.

Jisakaru: ....Tough crowd, I've seen better claps at a certain district on the weird part of town.

Jack: PFFT-

Ahseru: Well Jisakaru Chan, that was some crazy quirkology you got there. With enough practise, that quirk could have the most amount a development outta all these folks here.

Jisakaru: Thanks Teach.

Jisakaru went to the chair next to me and sat there. She looked pretty bored and tired.

Ahseru: Alright, Kuki Note, you're up next boy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk about exhilarating. Seeing all my classmate's quirk's were fun and interesting. After the weird Motorbike guy destroyed the stage, the homeroom teacher came up from his seat.

Ahseru: Well class, now that we're done with that, let me be very frank with you.

We all were on the edge of our seats, except for Jisakaru, who looked sleepy. The anticipation was definitely killing Zogaikotsu, who looked like he was going to blow up.

Jack: It was certainly good, however, we, the teachers, have decided to make this a bit cooler.

Ahseru: This teacher is Domain Hero: Zone Man. With the information gained from yo quirks, we figured out a snappy way to make the real challenge for ya'll. You see, Zone Man can make any possible thing happen in a 50m wide and 50m long zone that he has to carry around, (it's surprisingly light.). He's gonna make an obstacle course that you all gotsa go through. This be the real test fools.

Teacher crossed his arms.

Ahseru: Then if you stink at that, you'll get a second chance by goin' sparring with me. Trust me, I can take all o' ya'll.

The class's face ranged from excited, terror, confusion or anger. The atmosphere changed greatly from a fun and chill contest to a competitive obstacle course. Suddenly a black haired boy raised his hand.

A smart looking boy: Teacher, I got a question

Ahseru: Spill the beans.

A smart looking boy: What do we gain from this?

Ahseru: Let me make it clear, if you lose the obstacle course, I'll be making the losas do 50 push ups a day from now on until the Heroics class, which is a week from now.

Jack: That's a bit cruel isn't it?

Ahseru: I mean they gottsa be strong, right?

Asheru: Now come on! Make haste you got no time to waste.

He pointed at an empty area in the field, only for that area to suddenly explode with green energy into a strange obstacle course. This was rather intricate and complicated in it's design, definitely complicated to go through.

Zone Man: Zoney

Ahseru: What?

Zone Man: Bamzoning

Ahseru: .....W-What?

Zone Man suddenly started bowing intensely, he looked embarrassed while the teacher just looked puzzled.

We were all at the starting point. Talk about anxiety inducing, everybody was warming up for the obstacle course to start, I for one was doing special stretches. I guess some of the class was freaking out with how I was contorting my bones. Because I could hear a very distinct "Holy hell!" From someone.

A Pure White skinned girl: Zionianti Chan! Don't pose like that!

Zone Man was off to the side with a microphone in hand. I questioned whether or not he was even a teacher because of what he keeps saying.

Zone Man: Zone.

Teacher was off to Zone Man's side. He took ahold of his microphone and spoke into the microphone.

Ahseru: Alright! Listen carefully, consida this a little test run for the tournament's obstacle course, since that's way harda than this.

Zone Man: Zamboning?

Ahseru: Man I really don't get you. Anyways! Clench yo buttchecks!Everyone got prepared. They all readied themselves.

Asheru: On your mark! Get set, go!

As soon as he said go, I immediately kicked the side of the obstacle course walls, warping myself to the middle of the whole run. I almost fell but gripped onto the ledge of a platform. I looked back, there were some swinging pendulums and jumping rocks. my classmates were suffering on this.

I looked below, it was a small dug up area which's floor was painted red. According to teacher, if you stepped on the red, you'd be eliminated. I carefully made sure not to fall. I climbed onto the platform and reevaluated my strategy. Looking forward, I saw that there were walls I needed to climb, clearly easy for me, but before that, I noticed some platforms I needed to jump from in order to get to the walls. It seemed as though I couldn't just warp my way around this one, as there were no more platforms near the walls I could warp to.

Zogaikotsu: Out of the way, 'xcuse me!

I heard Zogaikotsu from the back.

Zogaikotsu: What a piece of cak- OOMPH!

I looked back and noticed him getting knocked so hard by the swinging pendulum that his limbs started getting flung individually from his body. At first I was extremely terrified because I thought he had just died, but I quickly saw him floating along with his limbs in order to not touch the red floor, so clearly that was his quirk. Quite a scary quirk, but I suppose it has it's uses.

I jumped from one platform to a smaller platform, the platforms looked as though they got smaller the more you progressed through this level. Come to think of it, I'm not so sure how long this obstacle course goes, or how far I'm in compared to my classmates.

I felt quite bad for the iron giant in the class, who was disqualified immediately due to their size and immediately touching the red floor. I believe their name was Konda Sora? Either way, from my position, I counted three people disqualified. Not a matter for me however, I just wanted to get through it.

As I hopped from platform to platform, I could feel the area around me getting warmer. Was this someone's quirk? Or was it just me feeling strange. Truth be told, I really found this course quite boring to go through. Seemed fairly simple compared to the things I've faced back home.

I finally reached the wall part. So simple, I punched the wall, expecting an easy win beyond the wall.... Only for me to realise beyond the wall was a gap that requires a jump to a platform....so I fell to the red part. Safe to say, I was furious. I think I even pouted from my anger. I got too careless and thought it'd be an easy win. So stupid.

I crossed my arms and walked to the ladder that lead out into the top before someone put their hand on my shoulder. It was brown hair girl, Jisakaru.

Jisakaru: Hey, don't beat yourself up. You just stumbled on a rock on the road, this means nothing, you'll get up and walk again soon.

...

W-Wow. That was really inspirational....and all this over an obstacle course?

Zionianti: Well- Thank you....Jisakaru Chan.

Jisakaru: Just needed to cheer up a fellow classmate.

She winked and gave me a thumbs up, along with a smile to boot. Goodness gracious, everyone I've met so far have been so kind and helpful to me. This was really nice. At that moment I forgot about being a hero, or a princess, and just felt like a normal person. I.....LIKED this feeling. I climbed out of the hole and sat down at a conveniently placed bench, Jisakaru sitting next to me.

Jisakaru: Man, this place is getting weirder by the second..

Vibra: Well...I suppose being weird isn't so bad right?

Jisakaru: Heh, yeah.

Vibra: You seem fairly normal compared to everyone, what's your situation?

Jisakaru: Situation?

Vibra: You must be aware, Home life, struggles, quirk mastery?

Jisakaru: I have no clue on what you're talking about.

Maybe I should use more simpler common words.

Vibra: Your hero backstory.

Jisakaru: Huh...Oh! You mean an origin story? Well...I live a fairly average life with my happily married parents who occasionally argue. Uhm- I never really had any hard struggles, maybe the occasional money issue but we're financially stable. My quirk is fairly easy to use.....Yeah that's about it.

Vibra: Oh. That's quite normal!

Jisakaru looked a bit pained from my comment, it felt as though something in her cracked.

Jisakaru: Haha, yeah I guess it's really normal huh?

She scratched the back of her terribly cut hair.

Jisakaru: Well what about you? What's your story.

Vibra: Hm....No comment.

Jisakaru: Alright alright, I won't pry further.

Vibra: What about white hair boy, Zogaikotsu?

Jisakaru: Oh him? He's my childhood bud. Very ambitious and reliable.

Vibra: Wonderful..I really am hoping we can be friends, Jisakaru.

I asked her, glancing at her with the biggest puppy eyes I could muster.

Jisakaru: Oh seriously? Uh...shoot, that's fine with me.

Vibra: Ah! Wonderful! As my sister once said, "You only have one time in your life where you gain allies, so gain as many as you can then destroy the rivalling kingdom."

Jisakaru: Heh, noted. Wait what was that about a rivalling kingdom?

Vibra: Got me, I never understood what that part meant.

This is my school life, a bridge into normality. I am going to take this chance to make as many friends as I can, because when all is said and done, I might never go back to Japan after I graduate, so I'll take my time and spend it with utmost happiness!
