Approximately half an hour had passed since we opened the doors to the library. I was stationed near the counter, attending to customers, while Deniz was organizing the newly arrived books on the shelves, with our small store room serving as his base of operations.
Amidst the hustle and bustle, Deniz's voice reached me from the store room, drawing my attention. "Aries! I've located the magazine. Could you come over here for a moment?"
"Sure thing, Deniz!" I acknowledged, briefly leaving my spot at the counter. I glanced at Rahim, our ever-absorbed reader, and signaled to him that I would be right back. He responded with an annoyed look that I interpreted as his assurance to manage things in my absence.
With that understanding, I made my way to the store room where Deniz awaited
Deniz was engrossed in flipping through the pages of the magazine, his eyes fixed on a series of intricate illustrations that adorned the book. Curious about what had captured his attention, I joined him and leaned over to take a closer look.
"Hey, what are these strange illustrations? Do they hold some hidden meaning or significance?" Deniz asked.
I examined the illustrations he was pointing to, recognizing the intricate patterns and symbols carved into the pages, I replied, "Let me take a look." Carefully, I studied the images, tracing the lines and shapes with my finger.
"Hmm, these seem to be ancient wall carvings left behind by previous psychics. They might hold clues or insights into their practices and experiences. But still, all we have to do is look out for interesting subjects."
Deniz nodded in agreement
"Right"
With that in mind, I opened the contents page of the magazine, scanning through the list of chapters.

We just searched through the book and at one point I found the thing I was looking for, a chapter on types of psychic abilities. There we found the list of all the main fields of psychic development too.
Telepathy: The ability to communicate thoughts and ideas directly to another person's mind without using verbal or physical means.
Clairvoyance: The ability to perceive information about distant or unseen events, objects, or people, often referred to as "remote viewing."
Precognition: The ability to foresee future events or gain knowledge of events before they occur.
Telekinesis: The power to move or manipulate objects using only the mind's focused energy.
Empathy: The capacity to sense and understand the emotions, feelings, and energies of others.
Astral Projection: The skill of consciously detaching one's consciousness or spirit from the physical body and traveling in a separate form.
Divination: The practice of gaining insights or answers through tools like tarot cards, runes, pendulums, or scrying.
Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
Pyrokinesis: The power to control and manipulate fire using the mind's influence.
Channeling: The act of allowing a spirit or entity to speak or express themselves through the psychic.
Perucolysis: The ability to sense other psychics in an area.
As we delved deeper into the book, Deniz's inquiried. "You mentioned possessing perucolysis,Yet, how did you summon that invisible attack earlier today?" The answer flowed forth from the enigmatic figure before us, woven with an eloquence that mirrored their control over the unseen forces at play. "Consider it a dance of abundance," Deniz continued
"My reservoir of psychic energy can transform the tendrils of perucolysis into anything worth of a formidable impact. By molding these waves into the form of a lance, their potential magnifies."
"is that so," deniz mumbled
As we delved deeper into the magazine, our curiosity was Increasing as we learned more about different powers. We were focusing on uncovering insights that would enhance my understanding of perucolysis, hoping to harness its power more effectively. However, the magazine predominantly delved into the arts of pyrokinesis and clairvoyance, along with the prospects of unlocking the sixth sense. It was a fascinating read, to say the least.
The pages of the book were filled with ancient wisdom and cryptic knowledge, each word carrying the weight of centuries of exploration. We scoured through chapters detailing the methods and techniques for practicing pyrokinesis. It was captivating, even though it didn't directly provide the answers we sought.
Despite not finding the specific guidance we were looking for, it was clear that this book held some important knowledge.
After some time of engrossing ourselves in it, we finally decided to close the book.
"Guess we'll take it with us," I suggested
"Of course, we paid for it," my companion agreed
With the book safely in our possession, we made our way towards out of the store room.
As we reached the counter, I discreetly slipped the book into one of the seemingly useless pouch bags tucked away in the corner of the library.
With the book now tucked away safely, we couldn't help but anticipate the end of our shift.
As the clock struck noon, signaling the midpoint of the day, the library's ambiance began to shift from the bustling activity of the morning to a quieter mood. Mr. Khalid, the librarian, returned to the library, and his presence signaled the end of our shift.
"Aries," he said, looking at me with a hint of concern, "I feel like there's something going on within the guards. They were mentioning you a lot, so I advise you to go straight back to your place from here."
I nodded, acknowledging his concern. It was an unexpected and somewhat unsettling piece of information.
"Certainly," I replied
Mr. Khalid turned to Deniz-
"And Deniz," Mr. Khalid continued, "you too, make sure that he goes straight back home."
Deniz affirmed "Yeah, I will,"
As the midday sun bathed the streets in a warm glow, Deniz and I left the library.
"Listen, before going back, let's first check up on Hakima's place, see if that man can answer us, alright?" I suggested
"Great idea," Deniz agreed, "and it won't take long."
The bustling sounds of the town surrounded us as we walked, the midday activities of merchants and townsfolk around us .
After some time we came across a group of guards. Their laughter and the way they stared past us raised an unsettling feeling in my gut. I glanced back at them, and they made a vulgar gesture, showing us the middle finger, before continuing on their way toward the town square where markets bustled with activity.
We quickened our pace and reached Hakima's place, but our hearts sank at the sight that met us. Several guards were stationed right at her doorstep, forming a barrier that blocked our entry. Panic welled up within me as I rushed forward to investigate the situation.
"Hey, hey, hold up. Who gave you permission to go in?" one of the guards with his companion stopped me in my tracks, their stern faces covering the entrance.
"What's happening here? What are you doing to her?" I demanded
"She's been arrested for illegally harboring an immigrant in her house," the guard explained casually, as if it were a routine matter.
"Arrested? What did you do to her?" I pressed further, my tone becoming more intimidating.
"We just knocked her out," another guard chimed in, "that old hag tried to burn us with her potions or whatever."
I couldn'tstand after realizing that...
