Possibility

Possibility

As I make my way to class, I can't stop thinking of all the possibilities. The possibility of how I would be treated if only I wasn't from a poor background. The possibility that I wouldn't struggle to get into this school for 2 years. The possibility that I would have been given a scholarship based on my skills and not because of my poor background.

As I get lost in these thoughts, someone calls out my name.

"Alicia"

He calls again now with a louder voice.

"Miss Alicia"

Then I realize I'm in class and that's my teacher calling for attendance. I raise my hand declaring my presence.

"Lost in thoughts, aren't we? Hope you pay extra attention in this class because the first question will go to you little miss."

I didn't want to seem more troublesome than he had imagined so I agreed. I mean this was magic class and the lesson was about mana control. I could do this stuff since I was a baby. (Of course that's a bluff.)

Anyways I wasn't scared of my turn coming. Actually I was thrilled. This means I was freely given an opportunity to showcase my skills. Of course I wanted this opportunity more than anyone else.

Then my turn came and I made my way across the big classroom.

I took a big sigh, slowly charging my mana. My mana stone started glowing. I could hear a couple of people snickering and scoffing obviously it was because they had seen my mana stone.

I couldn't care less. I wasn't in the school to make friends anyways.

After a minute I started activating my powers. I made every inch of the classroom bloom with vines. They were hanging in every wall of the classroom. The vines bloomed with flowers of the most beautiful colors.

I glanced at my teacher as he stared at the room in awe.

"Is my turn over?", I ask.

He was speechless and couldn't utter a word. Slowly but subtly he shook his head as a sign of agreeing.

After his approval I made sure that every inch and wall of the classroom was free from the vines. Now everyone was talking.

I came back to my seat and sat down as everyone behind me stared at me while the people in the front also tried secretly looking at me, some were more obvious than others.

After my turn the teacher called a couple of other people who seemed to be struggling in mana control. I could tell the people were really inexperienced.

Just like that class had ended. Everyone started getting up from their seats. I looked at my schedule realizing it was lunch. This 3 hour class felt quite short to me probably since I found it interesting. Like everyone else, I also got up from my seat trying to make my way outside the classroom.

However, just when I was at the door of the classroom, the teacher called my name again.

I stayed back to hear from him. He looked at me and smiled. He then with a soft voice said, "You're gifted Alicia."

I don't know what my thoughts were at the moment but before I realized tears rolled down my face. Maybe it was because I had finally been acknowledged by someone for my skills.

He then advised that I should meet with the principal and get private magic lessons. He assured that he would recommend me to the principal and provide an opportunity for me to get extra lessons for my skills.

I thought of all the possibilities of what would happen if I take these special classes. With an overjoyed face I told the teacher that I would visit the principal after a short while.

He smiled and walked away leaving me alone in the classroom. I wiped my tears and started thinking.

Would it be possible for me to thrive and be the best if I am given the opportunity?
