Enter! Saito Erika!

Change in life is always difficult, it’s always to be expected as things change all the time, but you never expect things in your life to change so drastically. My name is Erika Saito, and i recently moved to a different city due to my father getting a better job than the one that he had back at home. It’s great that dad has a better job so we will be able to live more comfortably then before, but as a first year high school student suddenly having to leave everything you know behind, change is hard.

I keep in contact with my old friends on the internet, we chat, talk about how school is going, talk about boys (ofc) but it's still not the same as before. I mean, with such a great distance between us, we won't get to see each other that often, or maybe, not at all. And it's not exactly easy for a shut in who likes art and manga to make friends, I get incredibly nervous around people I don't know, and it's not like I expect them to approach me either. But enough with the sob story, I’ve got school in less than an hour and I can't afford to be late.

After throwing on my clothes and brushing my teeth I wave by to my parents and burst out of the door, I don't like to be late as it can affect our school standing but i might not have a choice today considering the time I left my home, my new home, which is kinda out in the boondocks. It's surrounded by wooded areas with trees that lightly touch the cyan and white sky, which is different from the densely populated city that i'm used to. I start to pick up the pace when suddenly I hear a large crash, like that of a huge object ramming into the green earth. I glance to my left rear and see that something is planted in the ground and has smoke coming off of it.

I cautiously walk over to the object and discover that it's a small ship with something that looks like a man wearing armor inside (what have i just gotten myself into). Suddenly, without warning, the shield shape visor that covers the armored man slides up and retracts, allowing me to touch his metal body. At this point i'm not sure what I'm looking at but he looks like a mix between man and machine, despite being a little fearful, I place my hand on his chest.

“Cold” I whisper to myself, I start to fear the worst. If he was alive on the trip here, he's dead now.

“I'm sorry, I wish I knew what to do,” I say as I use my hand to pat away some dirt from what I assume is his helmet. At that second, aqua marine lights shine through his helmet and he begins to shift his head around. I jump back startled and scream, I wasn't expecting him to wake up after seeming so absent of life as I observed him. He stands up and peers at me with his ocean colored eyes.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“It appears you have saved me” he quietly says to me, his voice and demeanor stoic, “I thank you”

“Uhhhhh yeah, I mean, I…..did?” I nervously say to the now not dead, alive robot that just fell from the sky (anyone would be as nervous as I am).

“You seem to be afraid, what is the matter?” He chants cooly as he fixes his gaze upon me.

“This is just all so weird, I cant believe what I'm seeing, this is like something out of an anime” I say in a confused manner.

“What's an anime” it asks still staring at me

“You know, japanese animation, they are usually conceptualized from manga”

“Whats a manga”

“You know, Japanese graphic novels”

“Whats a graphic novel”

“Ughhhhh you're hopeless!” I finally say at the end of our little game of 20 questions

“I see” he says in a stoic manner

“A-anyway you said that I saved you, how did I do that?” I ask

“My cells were devoid of power and you simply recharged them” He stated.

“And how exactly did I do something like that? I didn't do anything special” I say in a confused manner.

He then stated in a serious tone, “Headpats” I could've sworn a guitar was going to start playing in the background.

I looked at him dumbfounded “Are you serious right now”

“Completely” he responds in his usual stoic tone. He then asked me “you seem to have some materials with you, are you going somewhere?”

“Y-yeah, I'm just going to school, oh, and before you ask, it's a place where you go to learn” I say quickly.

“I see, do others go to this skewl as well” he asks me in a stoic tone

“Well of course, it's not like i'm the only one” i say as i chuckle

“I see, then where are they” He questions

“W-well they are most likely at school by now, i'm the one thats going to be late, besides” I squeeze out as the words well up in my throat, “I don't really have any friends.”

That's when the being that i've been talking to for all this time did something that i didn't think was possible, he placed his hands onto what I thought was part of his face and lifted it off. It suddenly dawned on me that that wasn't his actual head, but instead it was just a helmet. His face was so incredibly human it was stunning, yet he had light gray eyes and smoke gray hair, just looking at him you wouldn't know he wasn't human.

“I am designated as B4-61 ‘Byte’ and I wish to be your friend” he said stoic as ever.

“You do?” I questioned him with my eyes wide.
