Draco felt a shiver run through his body, as realisation hit home a little too late.
he wished he had thought things through before taking the oath of a dragon lord
after Draco had been introduced, Thoran had taken him through the basic roles of a dragon lord.
it seemed the dragon cave was just the entrance to the kingdom of Drucolis which was its immediate neighbour.
Drucolis was ruled by king Muriel of the Drucon clan and was surrounded by eight other kingdoms
the land surrounding the dragon cave however was important since according to the Silasin charter, it was under the jurisdiction of the dragonlord and his descendants.
the agreement had been made by the "Council of Nine" that all the eight kingdoms were members with the dragon cave being the ninth member
this was important mainly because, even though a dragonlord could pledge his loyalty to any kingdom they chose, the dragonlords mostly preferred to practise neutrality and abstain from politics.
needless to say, if the dragon lord took sides, it would give undue advantage to one kingdom which would likely destabilise the peace in the entire region.
the oath that Draco had taken hadn't involved any verbal words.
he had just been given an ancient dragon talon and as instructed, he had pricked his palm at the centre and smeared it on the first page of the dragon book which apparently opens up upon him mentioning his title and ancestry.
immediately the blood made contact with the page of the dragon book. there was a deafening roar from all the corners surrounding the dragon cave.
the earth trembled beneath him as if threatening to give way
the wall of the cave was shaking and reverberating with the echoes of the thunder-like roars
dragons were hailing their new lord!

Draco's (pov)
ever since I found myself in this cave, I have been wondering what happened to the system.
was the old man aware of the predator system?
could he be withholding information from me.? he must be connected to the system.
how else had the system known about the Gawain wand?
and how could you explain the fact that he had just confirmed that I was the new dragon lord something that the system had just confirmed 3 hours ago?
coincidence huh?.. a fat chance
then there was the issue of the girl.
I do not claim to have a truth talisman, but even a simpleton would immediately spot the difference between the knight and the girl.
simply put, she wasn't her daughter!
which all begs the question, what are they not telling me?
**************************************************************************
His reverie was broken!
Draco could not believe his eyes!
pages and pages of the enormous dragon book were turning themselves. every page was written in a similar strange calligraphy
Thoran explained that the language was known as Thuum and every dragon born was expected to know it to be able to read the dragon book and communicate with the dragons
Draco could not make anything of the strange language. he had known becoming the dragon lord was a terrible idea and this confirmed it
if this was the language he had to speak with the dragons, he was as good as dead!
He realised that he wasn't actually a dragon descendant. which explained why he couldn't understand the language.
the only reason he was here was that he had retrieved the Gawain wand,By completing the system quest.had the system known this.
he felt his body tensing.could the system cheat ancestral rights.Draco wondered
he very much preferred fading, whatever it was, rather than be smoked alive by enraged dragons when they discovered that he was an imposter.
if there was a good time to bail. now was that time!

Thoran's (POV)
Thoran excused the boy's reactions ! he was after all a stranger to all this.
he certainly was from a future timeline or a very advanced kingdom. This was evident from the look of his cloths that had a very different make from what was made in this realm
he also recalled earlier, as the young dragonlord questioned him about something he called the system
whatever that was,Thoran did not pay much attention. as the dragon cave librarian, his duties were to welcome the new dragonlord and take him through the initiation process.
he had also noted that the boy seemed not to understand Thuur,
He was staring at the pages with a blank look, and fear was on his face.
Thoran did not worry about that either.
The Gawain wand had been sent to find a fitting replacement. and it had returned with the boy. who was he to question the wisdom of the previous dragonlord?
besides. the real test would come soon when the boy would choose his dragon mount.
as the new dragonlord, the boy would have to ride across the eight kingdoms on a dragon, flying a white flag symbolic of the peace and neutrality of the Dragon Cave
he knew that nobody else could ride a dragon except a dragon descendant, or someone with the explicit permission from the dragonlord
he would play his part and wait.
