Bomb chickens?
Those things were chickens?
Naturally I was somewhat shocked by the name of those things as in no way what so ever did they look like chickens.
‘Maybe chickens looks different elsewhere in the universe?’ I thought.
Anyway, the name of those corrupt creatures isn’t the important part…
It’s the number of them I killed.
1382!!!
THERE WERE THAT MANY!!!
I COULDN’T EVEN SEE THEM ALL!!!
If I had known I was surrounded by that many there is no way whatsoever that I wouldn’t have fought. Even if it was impossible I would have tried to flee. Where the heck were they hiding?
As I continued to ponder the impossibility of that matter, my eyes drifted down to [Protector’s Presence]. Seeing that it had reached level 1 so soon after I got it felt rather unusual.
After all the experience read [Exp: 382 / 10000] and the previous level required 1000 experience so…
Every kill is only worth 1 experience?
AND NOW I NEED 10 000!?!?
What about level three? Will I need 100 000? Level 4 will be 1 000 000? That’s absurd!
I mean I get it, the ability buffs my allies and debuffs my enemies passively if the conditions are met. That’s awesome! But it also only does a change of 1 % there strength. And I guess level 2 will be 2 %? The requirements to get this a too absurd and I don’t even get a personal benefit from it.
IT ONLY WORKS IF I HAVE ALLIES!
WHERE THE HECK AM I GONNA FIND AN ALLY IN THIS PLACE!!!

…
After complaining to myself for a little while longer I eventually decided to forget about it and put myself to work. There is a lot I need to do if I want to survive.
After securing drinking water and cleaning my self I now need to find food and clothes.
For food I imagine the only thing I can possibly eat around here are those creatures. If I’m lucky I might find an edible plant but that’s not really a long term solution either way.
Since I am going to hunt some creatures for food, I will also need something to butcher my kills. So a knife and some other utensils.
With that in mind I set out to the closest abandoned shopping centre I know of. The sun will come up soon but it’s still a bit dark which should help me hide until I’m ready to hunt. Whilst I’m there I will also secure some clothes if I can but, I’m not sure how well clothes would have survived after being abandoned for so long.
I make my way to the old shopping centre without any issue. I arrived just as the sun is peaking the horizon. It wasn’t that far away as this area used to be a popular tourist location so there are plenty of hotels and shops around.

After arriving I immediately head into some shops that I remember selling clothes, however, every single one of them was either emptied out or the clothes in them were practically destroyed.
After spend about an hour trying to find clothes I finally give up and start searching for a knife or some other shape object I could use to hunt and butcher. It didn’t take long to find an old everything store and I managed to secure a few knives of different sizes. Whilst I was here I also grabbed a big pot, all the soap and toothpaste that was still usable, and any thing related to medical care, which was just some basic items like bandages but still, it could be a lifesaver.
Carrying everything in my new pot I made my way back to the library. On the way I came up with a new plan for securing clothes.
Since I can’t find clothes I will have to make some and to do that I’ll take parts from creatures and make them into clothes. I know it won’t immediately fix the issue but with almost all the fabric based items destroyed by either those creatures or the weather I don’t really have a choice.
Of course there is still a chance that I luck out and find a store that’s still intact but at the same time I can’t rely on things like that in this apocalyptic world.
In this environment I am going to have to learn how to do everything on my own.
I will need to hunt, butcher and cook my own food.
I will need to make my own clothes.
I will need to make my own hygiene stuff as I doubt ill be lucky enough to find more.
I will need to dress my own wounds.
I will need take care of my shelter and especially the surviving books.
And much more that I haven’t even thought of yet.
So, I have a lot of learning to do. Luckily, I have a library and a tonne of books available to me. Not to mention as much time as I need to read them all.
After arriving back at the library I immediately set out to kill some creatures. After all, as important as learning is I am also currently starving.
Taking the biggest knife with me I search for something to kill. It didn’t take long to find one. I just happened to get lucky on my shopping trip as nothing was out and about so early in the morning but now that the days in full swing, a couple creatures can be seen.
Right now I am standing on top of a 3 story building looking at a small black scaled creature that looks a lot like a raptor. The primary difference between a raptor and this thing being that this thing has a two heads.
It’s almost like a hydra or something.
Without thinking to much about it a begin sneaking up on it. I climb down the side of the building quietly and once I’m close enough I prepare to jump on it from above. I plan on killing it with the knife instead of [Incarnat] because I don’t want to destroy it or make a lot of noise.
It would be better if other creatures don’t interrupt when I’m taking this fellow home.
After taking a deep breathe I jump down at the thing and whilst being completely oblivious to my presence I stab it in the heart. I will admit I was a little worried about the knife breaking but thankfully it held.
The raptor like creature let out a small yelp of pain before falling limp. It was a lot easier to kill than I was expecting.
[Soul Manifest]
[Your soul is excited]
[You have slain a Corrupt Raptillian]
[The universe is pleased by your act of selflessness]
[Your soul is pleased by the universe’s recognition]
[The universe has bestowed a reward to your soul]
[Your soul has been reward]
Without waiting around, I quickly picked it up and hoisted it over my should, getting blood on me in the process. The Raptillian was about the size of a large pig and probably as heavy but with my stats, that’s nothing.
I take the Raptillian back home with me and leave it on the old public bathroom floor as I don’t want to get blood everywhere through my house.
I wash myself off before heading to the book in search of one about hunting and although it took a fair while I eventually found one. I took a seat by my favourite spot where the fireplace is and began reading.
After a few hours of reading I finished the book and finally went to fix my meal. I am absolutely starved at this point. Heck, I’m prepared to eat it raw if I have too but I know that probably wouldn’t end well.
Taking my knife with me a start butchering the Raptillian how the book explained, and although it was a bit difficult and messy, I eventually managed to separate the important parts.
Before me I had the meat pieces, the scaly skin and the waste. The waste is al the parts that I am either not game enough to eat or not prepared to test if I can eat it, likes it’s guts.
As for how I will dispose of the waste without attracting unwanted guests. I think I’ll burn them. But before that I need to cook a meal.
Setting up the fire I immediately start cooking the enough meat to eat. As for the remained, I’ll deal with that later.
After cooking it blindly for about an hour in water I figure it’s probably ready and take it out, setting it on the bottom of the old metal bucket, using it as a plate.
Without further ado I dig in and…
IT WAS AWEFUL!
