Field of flowers. – Chapter 224

<━━━━━━━━━━━>

My entire life has been filled with many hardships...... But I have never thought that my life would turn out this way….

Me, a dragon, being enslaved by these demons for who knows how long. I’ve already lost count of how long I’ve been in this kind of state.

I've witnessed innumerable battles and violent battlegrounds that have wiped out entire worlds in a matter of days. I've seen lots of my brothers and sisters die already… and I get the feeling that even my remaining strength will soon vanish.

And I was certain that in the battle I was about to engage in….. Was going to be my last.

Right now, these demons have brought the war to a certain planet in order to decrease the number of angels who are trying to protect the 12th heavens district.

Everywhere I looked on this battlefield, I only saw death, as many poor species were cruelly wiped out by other unfortunate living beings.

Many angels or demons could already be seen falling into their deaths as they clashed with one another.

The amount of hatred that these two beings had was unimaginable. And the fact that they continued to fight despite many of them being dead, was surprising.

It was almost as if they didn't even care about their own kinds.

I have witnessed many wonders in many different worlds during my life, but what I was about to witness today…. Was going to be unthinkable….

The fight over the 12th district was dragged into a random world that just happened to be close to this unending war. I realized that many children in this awful world would no longer be able to spend another morning with their parents as blood and death were now prevalent in it.

Even I, a proud dragon, couldn't help but feel pity over the weaklings of this planet who just learned the harsh fate of this world.

Right now, I could barely feel myself conscious while trying to move my own old body.

I’ve already been into many battlefields, and I’m proud to say that I managed to at least kill some angels.

Because of this, I had no problem with my life right ending here, on this barren ground covered in a variety of thousands of flowers.

I could already smell the pleasant scent of the flowers as I could feel my power slowly ebbing away. My body is no longer able to obey demons any longer, even if they told me to hunt down and kill angels.

While looking around the whole place, I decided to move into somewhere much quieter in order to have a peaceful death. My strength was barely holding me, but the will to find a proper grave for myself, kept my body going.

I kept moving somewhere until I no longer could hear the screams or death chants that angels and demons were loudly saying to one another.

I ended up at a tranquil pasture where everything was quiet. I wasn't sure how far I had gone, but I was confident that I would feel safe in this location.

But as I kept wandering around this wonderful field of countless varieties of beautiful flowers, I noticed that someone was standing motionless in the middle of the field. He didn't appear to be an angel or a demon, which is why my slave collar didn’t immediately react.

My eyes were a bit fuzzy, but from what I could see, that being seemed to be a male with long brown hair and plain human sized clothing. But even without knowing exactly what that creature was, I could tell by the color of his green, chilly, and vivid eyes that he wasn't a regular person who just happened to be in this place.

When I observed the stunning flowers scattered across the ground, I had the impression that he appeared to be lonely standing there.

I have seen wonders in all kinds of dimensions… but this was the first time I have seen an outstanding being like him….

But… as my eyes were gradually recovering, I soon understood that my vision failed to comprehend the scene in front of me.

“W-wha”

What was in front of me was not a field full of beautiful flowers…. But actually a great vast amount of countless corpses!

And the smell I was picking up until now was actually the blood stench of all demons and angels that were laying in the ground, dead.

[ Did he… did he do this all alone? ]

At that time, I wasn't grasping my situation… but the one thing that my mind kept asking me was…

How could such a beautiful being cause this much death?

Stolen novel; please report.

But despite the fact that I was standing with death itself in front of me, I wasn't afraid at all. No… I was acutely relieved that my life could at least be taken away by this beautiful person.

It didn't take long before this long haired person noticed my presence as well, that's why I embraced myself for what's to come next.

“Please… spare this old dragon from this everlasting torment. ” I bowed my head to him as I was waiting for my time to come to an end.

“......”

Unfortunately, after waiting for my agony to come to an end, I slowly looked up, only to find that that outstanding being was nowhere to be seen.

I was all alone, and from what I could see, he didn't seem to be interested in taking my life.

“I'm so pitiful that nobody even wants to try to meet this dragon's dying wish.”

While looking at the sunset, I kept thinking of when I would be free from this cage that I was caught up in.

More than sorrow… and more than rage that was within me… the only thing I was feeling right now….

Was nothing… I had already given up on everything, and nothing could return me to my old kind of life….

Yet… before I could wait for any further commands from this curse upon my fate, I felt a reliving sense around my neck….

“....”

Once I looked down at the weird sensation, I noticed the collar that I had been wearing for more than millions of cycles…. Had fallen off…

“I…. am free?.....” My eyes widened as I immediately looked back to see where that person was, only to find that he was nowhere near to be found.

I simply couldn't believe that I was finally free from this unending torture that has been going on for almost an entirety.

I can finally move on my own. I can finally do or think whatever I want without being restricted in any kind of way.

And that was all thanks to that being….

“I need to look for him!”

I gathered my courage to get up once again and look for the one who removed the heavy burden of this curse that removed any rights from my own life.

* * *

At the middle of the battlefield where many angels or demons were fighting to the death, could be seen as many of the collared monsters or dragons were fighting to death with one another, removing all sorts of sense in their own unfulfilled hearts and empty minds while continuing to kill other species…

Many of the angels or demons rarely engage in the fight, that is why many could be seen looking from above the whole brutal battle.

“Look at all those animals going all out without any sense of holding back.” A certain angel smirked in satisfaction while observing the battle from above, safe from any kinds of attacks.

“Leaving them to do all the work while we relax is the best.” The angel beside him responded with the same kind of reaction.

But before these two angels could enjoy this sensation to the fullest, a certain third angel rushed towards the two in alarm.

“We have a problem!!”

“There always is.” The angel responded at the alarmed looking angel.

“What is it? DId any of the demons participate in this battle? If so, we can arrange a few of our angels for this kind of thing.” The second angel asked, willing to carry the burden of trying to participate in this war and forgetting about the enjoyment they were having a few moments ago.

“We won't be able to do that!! They are all dead!!”

““WHAT!!!?”” Both of the angels responded with anger at the nonsense they just heard.

“I barely managed to sneak away from the rest of our groups before they could annihilate all of our ranks and battle angels!” The informant, barely able to breath, looked at the two angels who were looking not only perplexed, but also very angry at this kind of nonsense.

They knew that this wasn't some kind of joke. That's why they tried thinking not only for a logical answer, but also a way to get around this kind of problem.

“How many of us are left?” The first angel asked, the tone of his voice deepened while thinking of all kinds of possibilities.

“It's hard to tell… it all happened so fast that I didn't have time to see what was happening exactly. But there was one thing that I saw from the attackers….” The other angels were waiting for the kind of response that this information was going to give to them, waiting to see what kind of attack the demons had made to them. “They were angels!”

“WHAT?!?”

“From which district did they come?!”

Both of the angels looked very angry at the abrupt information given to them. Why would angels attack their own kind? That was nonlogical and very hard to believe, but the kind of face the infomat was giving, proved that it was all true.

“I don’t know anything else, but they all overpowered us all! Together with a human who was beyond recognition from the immense power he held!”

All of the angels fell into deep thoughts as they had a hard time to understand why angels together with a human would do this kind of thing.

None of these things made sense since not only humans were considered one of the weakest races, but also very much selfish at the same time.

“What should we do? Should we go and check this out?” The second angel asked the first angel, in hope of having a good idea about this situation.

“No… we’re heading back to our district and giving the report of what happened here.”

“What about all of the mortals down there?” The second angel asked while pointing to all the monsters that were still fighting to death.

“We’ll leave them all here. The battle here will buy us some time until we find our way back to the 12th district.”

And without thinking too much about this kind of decision, all of the remaining angels left the battlefield and went back to their own dimension.

What was left in the ground were countless abandoned souls who were bound to die here until one of the sides would die.

Or at least that is how things were meant to go until a certain green-eyed boy with long brown hair soared across the battlefield, removing all of the collars that the slaves were wearing and bring hope to all of the species that couldn't refuse the command of their masters.

All of the species looked confused and relieved as they looked at their own hands, finally understanding that they were finally free from their unending torment.

But the one thing that remained in everyone’s minds….. Who was the person that removed their collar, and what was he planning on doing with them?
