The inhabitants of these worlds were  consumed by hatred and greed, leaving the gods no choice but to destroy them. The present world is the fifth sun, characterized by its luminous, yellow light. Thus, it is known as the Golden Sun.  For centuries, it has been up to a select few to nourish the sun with good and kindness, from where it draws its strength. Without it, the sun would fail to burn in the sky, descending our world into a violent chaos of death and destruction. The guardians, or People of the Sun, have a divine duty to protect it from the evil that thrives in the darkness.
