Chapter 2

Dying couldn't feel this good. Maybe someone had slipped me some shrooms? Nah, this was different, too real. I had no anger, no sadness, all I had was tranquility. Shit, I mean, I guess it is what it is; I'm fucking dead. I won't be missing anyone and no one will be missing me, except maybe, my mom. Fuck! I can't do this to her! She's suffered enough as it is; I can't let her bury her son!

When I opened my eyes I could see the glowing Earth, glorious and noble. It was, for lack of a better word, beautiful. It was peaceful, contrary to the real thing. Whoa, this is cool. I need some music for this cosmic ride. "I had to fall to lose it all..."

Ok, enough is enough; I had to get back, but how? I tried doing a furious breaststroke in outerspace but gained no traction. I kept levitating away from Earth and all I could do is reach out to it. Suddenly, an invisible force grabbed me and yanked me away, bending me at the waist. The Earth quickly dissappeared as I was dragged into the vast darkness at a ludicrous speed. It made me so tired, so, so tired. The force was completely in control and I was just a marionette in space. At some point I passed out.

Mangled flashes of different colors poured through my eyelids; a warm fuzz embraced me as I came to. Opening my eyes was a challenge, all I could muster was a squint against the brightness of the light. My vision adjusted slowly as I floated to a standstill. Before me were four massive orbs, and I mean massive; like Death Star sized. They formed a diamond shape, like in baseball. The top one was green and the bottom was purple. On the left, the orb was red, with a blue orb on the right. They were burning, like the sun, but I felt no heat. It felt as if they were watching, no, it felt like they were judging me.

"Hi. I'm, I'm Mike.", I stammered. "Well, my name is Miguel but everyone calls me Mike." I tried to sound as casual as possible. I waited for some type of response but received none. "Um, is this gonna take a while? I was kinda hoping to get back to Earth. See, my mom is sick and alone and I'd like to get back if possible." Still, I got nothing. I waited a few minutes and started getting impatient. "Am I dead?", I asked. "Because if I am, well, lets get on with it. I'd like to move on instead of floating here with my thumb up my ass."

"Seriously, what am I doing here? And why am I wearing clothes? If I'm dead and this is my spirit, shouldn't I be naked? Literally, nothing is fucking making sense right now." Antagonizing the orbs wasn't working either. That's when I got mad and exploded, "Damn it to hell! I need to get back, let me go!"

WIthout warning a beam shot from each of the orbs, in their respective colors, and merged to form a single beam. The concentrated beam, now black, shot straight into me and impacted my torso. Such was the force that it sent me plummeting back to Earth. In a split second, my soul-self slammed into my physical self, harder than I had slammed onto that ramp. Darkness ensued.
