Chapter 1: The squishiest best friend of mankind

Mio didn't even register those words, just hearing the slime's voice made her jump back towards the bed. The green blob jumped in the bed aswell. His round body looked very opaque, although some kind of transparency could still be denoted, depending on how much light he was exposed to. His eyes were long and thin, so much that they looked as if he had them closed all the time, and his mouth had the shape that of a kitten. Despite the creature not being any larger than a headpillow, Mio backed down, horrified, until her back hit the bed's headboard. The slime, with a slight tone of concerned, asked her a new question.

-Slime: Is everything okay, Mio? Are you still hungover from last night? You didn't drink that much, or at least, no more than other times.

-Mio: W-who are you?! Where am I, what is this place, is "Mio" my name?

-Slime: Oh my, did you hit your head? Maybe you've a wound somewhere? Let me take a look.

With even more concern in his voice, the slime started approaching the girl slowly, which made her panic even more. She started grabbing everything she had at hand and didn't doubt for a second when she began to throw her new gained ammunition at the slime. Although they were mostly pillows, the creature got knocked back enough to fall off the bed, although he jumped on it back again rather quickly. Now, being mildly annoyed and after Mio ran out of pillows, the slime guessed by now that something wasn't right with her friend, so he tried a different strategy.

-Slime: Mio, it's me, Mogu! We met when you were six and we have been inseparable ever since. Don't you remember me?

-Mio: Mogu...? But, why would I befriend a slime?

-Mogu: Well, I was being chased down by a group of kids who wanted to harm me, but you saved me and you protected me. That was like, ten years ago.

Still feeling a bit uneasy, Mio reached out her hand until she layed it on top of Mogu's head. Or maybe it was his body. Kind of hard to know, since his face was like 30% of his whole being. Either way, once the girl felt the cold touch of the slime's body, she started feeling some kind of nostalgia. As if her body was moving on its own, she just grabbed Mogu with both hands and started squishing it like it was some kind of ball made out of soft clay. The sounds that the slime made also helped Mio, and although she still didn't fully remember him, she could somehow remember the feeling of using him as a pillow when it was too hot, or simply playing with his body because Mio found the sounds he made when tampered adorable. Although Mogu usually didn't like being stretched and squished like some kind of rubber ball, the adorable laugh that his friend would do whenever she did that was enough for him to not get mad.

-Mio: I... I still don't remember everything correctly, but still, I believe what you say, Mogu. You said my name was Mio, right? I don't quite remember anything about... well, anything. Mind me some exposition?

-Mogu: Sure, will you stop squeezing me after I do?

-Mio: Hmm, I'll think about it~

-Mogu: *sigh* Well, anyway. Your full name is Miori Celesta. You're a sixteen year old girl who worked at your family's tabern. At age six you saved me from those bullies, and after you grew up and saw all the adventurers passing by the tabern, you decided to become one yourself. A few months ago, you started to travel under the name of a company of bards. We met a few people, we discovered the company was no good, there was a fight between some dragons and a giant lobster. Wicked stuff, really. But either way, a few weeks ago we separated from a group of friends we were traveling with for a decent amount of time, we were basically wandering off, completing missions and having fun at taberns, where you would play your strap-on celesta. This was a normal week like any other, but for some reason, now you have amnesia.

-Mio: Hmm, it is strange. Either way, dragons? You need to tell me more about that.

-Mogu: Shouldn't... shouldn't we find, like, someone who can discover why you got amnesia or a way to-

Before Mogu could finish what he was saying, the room's balcony doors snapped open, and a strong wind current entered the room, alongside the noises of screams of panic and terror. The duo looked at eachother before rushing towards said balcony to see what was going on.
