GODS FELLED ONLINE [Soulsborne LITRPG]
Choose Your Path, Part One

Choose Your Path, Part One

I made my way to the first figure standing to my left. It was a man, or a shadow of a man as it had no face, only darkness, garbed in long grey robes and holding a talisman out before them. A glimmer of light materialized at the feet of the robed figure.

[THE ARDOR]

The first of six classes. The Ardor. I felt a strange, yet natural, urge to put my hand forward and touch the classes name. Once I did the words faded and were replaced with a summary of the classes’ lore and stats.

The Ardors of Arthen are zealot priests who revel in the Cleansing of the Gods. Their belief that the corruption of The Heart and of the Gods must be completely wiped out from the world no matter the cost, even if it means losing their lives. They use the ever-fragmenting power of Faith in the Cleansed Gods to conjure protective magic, heal their allies and boost their team’s power. If you have a belief that light will triumph over darkness, then cast off the shackles of doubt and take the Covenant of Arthen to become an Ardor.

As interesting as the Ardors sounded and as much as I wanted to rely on my faith, especially since the incident back home, I didn’t feel like worshipping any god. I was here for myself and myself alone. This class had a strong focus on working together with other players, supporting and helping them. I was looking more for something with more of a solo playstyle in mind.

I walked over to the next figure to the right of the Ardor. This shadow statue was dressed in a similar fashion as the Ardor but in an almost black robe, wearing a circlet on their head that seemed to leak droplets of blood and it held a dagger in its hand.

As I stepped up to the second class I was greeted with a glow of text in the misty air.

Stolen story; please report.

[THE FESTER]

I touched the classes name and read through the classes’ lore and stats. Which already seemed to be closer to the playstyle I was looking for.

The Fester Priests are worshippers of the Corruption itself. An unholy sect of believers who revel in the vileness of the decaying of the Gods. They believe that the corruption will bring salvation to a world that was once imprisoned by the will of selfish beings and prideful deities. They feast of the infected flesh of the Corrupted Gods to gain immense powers, see glimpses into the future and unleash horrible famines upon the land to further the Corruptions designs. If you believe that darkness and death are to be worshipped, then pay the blood price and be baptized anew as a Fester Priest.

I considered the Fester for a long time before I decided I wanted to look at the other classes before ultimately deciding what to choose. The overall theme of the Fester hit closer to home then I cared to admit. Never one to shy away from the darker feelings in my heart but seeing as it pushed more towards a distant attacker who preferred to weaken enemies rather than finish the fight quickly, I was hesitant to commit to it.

So, I continued my research of the other classes with the next one looking closer to how I imagined myself running around the world of The Great Daleum. The next class was dressed in dark, almost black leather, a deep cowl to cover the face and had twin blades in either hand.

[THE BRIGAND]

The Brotherhood of Brigands is a secret society, working in the shadows of the world, hellbent on crushing inequality. Steal from the rich and give to the poor. An eye for an eye and a death for a death. Brigands use their cunning and sleight of hand to work the dark alleys of society and manipulate it to their designs. The Brotherhood prefers stealth over aggression and bribery over warfare. With their blades in hand, hoods held low, The Brotherhood of Brigands will see that all our equal no matter the cost. If you believe the world must change even if blood is the price, then vow to the Brotherhood and take upon you the Chains of the Brothers and become a Brigand.

The Brigand really appealed to the emotions welling up inside of me. The world was wrong, that’s why I left it. That’s why I came to this new place. To this new home. But did I see myself skulking about? Hiding in shadows, whispering in the right ears? Stabbing people in the back rather than face challenges head on? It was a thought that kept crawling up my spine as I considered taking on the Chains of the Brothers. So far, the Brigand was at the top of my list, but I knew there were other classes to consider. And though I had done research about Gods Felled Online’s classes before committing, it was still a difficult choice to make.
