Chapter 007

Today is the day before my 10th birthday, and in this world on your 10th birthday your parents will officially give you a name. This is an ancient tradition that most people in this universe follow, the reason behind it is simple. Many kids that are born into this world die before they reach this age, whether it be caused by diseases, murder, or other natural causes. Mother offered to let me name myself, but I denied saying it would be my honor to receive a name from her.

I also convinced mother not to hold a banquet for a couple of reasons, my personal reason was I was not a very social person Jane and mother were about the only 2 people I talk to besides the few I spoke to before I killed them. As for the reasons I used to convince mother it was easy; after my annihilation of the Mallor family there were many things to be done. The amount of paperwork mother had to do to get the city back in order, lowering taxes, creating more jobs, organizing a city guard, and a bunch more odd jobs.

Not to mention the people were at first outraged at my actions and demanded I pay the price, and of course mother would not let that happen; not that she or anyone else in this city had the power to do so. Mother in the end used cleverly arranged words to twist the truth, hiding a few details, and informing them of his plot against father. In the end mother had asked me rather reluctantly to try to stay hidden away from everyone. I had no problems with that as I usually spend most of my time training in the manor courtyard.

Speaking of training over the last several years I have continued my training; Thanks to the battle I gained a few insights as to my body structure. Things like what muscles were being used the most, and what ones were not on the level needed for my movements. As of now I am pretty confident if I met that mage again I would be fast enough without gravity rush to defeat him. I am confident for a simple reason my muscle fibers have been being drained and refilled with the universe energy over and over. During my first period of training from infant to 7 I had focused mostly on my body, the stronger the body the more energy it can absorb.

The last several years I have switched over to energy based training, engraving energy over and over again into my cells filling them with as much power as I could with my current fitness level. My muscle fibers where filled with energy now and my power increased by a good margin. Before 75 kg would be my arm strength limit now I am probably around 140 kg. My speed in general is on a whole other level, though I feel my strength is impressive I feel my body structure is in favor of speed.

As today's training comes to an end I head back to the manor to clean up, as I finished washing I started to head to my room. But as I started walking there I noticed mother looking for something, and her face seemed a little sad. Curious I walk up to her and ask.

"Did you lose something mother?"

She seemed startled as I said that, and turned to look at me her face turning into a bitter sweet smile replied.

"Not yet my son not yet, I was looking for you actually."

Mother and I have a very warm relationship as I would describe it, I feel comfortable when I am with her, but over the last several years she has become rather busy so we have not had our usual classes. After a year I stopped waiting for her to tell me she was busy and could not teach me, and just trained through my usual class time instead. We have actually spoken very little or even seen each other very much.

So hearing her say she was looking for me was a little odd, but I guess my 10th birthday is coming up so she needs me for something about that. Ignoring my inner thoughts I focused my attention back to mother and said.

"I was just cleaning myself after today's training, do you need me?"

Mother looked over me and nodded before saying.

"Tomorrow is your 10th birthday, and the day you will be getting your name in this world. With it you will become part of this world, though you are my son that I gave birth to you have a destination that will take you to far greater places, I just wanted to make sure you are prepared."

Mother was being more serious and stern than usual so plied with full confidence.

"Yes mother I will take your words to heart, and never forget them."

She gave me one bright smile before nodding to me and walking towards her office. I finished up my day and went to bed ready for the next day when I receive my name. I was woke up early as I did everyday but to my surprise today unlike the others head maid Jane was already up cleaning the house. As she noticed me awake she quickly bowed to me greeting me with.

"Good morning young master, you are awake early."

To which I simply said.

"Good morning Jane, and I am up this time every day."

She simply nodded and continued to clean the house occasionally turning to give me a glance before turning back to her task. Confused by her actions, but not wanting to interrupt her I left for my morning run. After that I meditate before starting my physical training to increase my body strength and deplete my cells energy. Once again I will meditate to refill my cells and I will continue this cycle throughout the day. Though today I choose to quit early so that I can bath and get myself ready for my naming ceremony.

Though I say ceremony it will just be mother, Jane, and I as they are the only ones that know the truth about me. Since I was born here I have only worn basic training attire, but since today is a special day I gave into mother’s request to dress up today. I had a long sleeve shirt under a vest with cloth pants tucked into leather boots. My eyes were an emerald green with my hair flowing down to my shoulders, though a random side effect of training with the energy of the universe was my hair lost its color and seemed as whiter than snow.

I was indifferent towards my appearance I did not know if I looked handsome or noble or anything, but mother wanted me to wear this so I obliged. As for my hair as long as it never got in the way of my movements I would leave it to grow. Fully clothed I leave my room and head to mother’s office where she and Jane are waiting. Standing in front of the door I take a deep breath then exhale, though I am confident in my abilities this moment represents me integrating into a new world. I will be given a name that name will hold all my achievements and actions.

Quickly calming myself I open the door and step in to face mother sitting on her desk with Jane to her right slightly behind her. Hearing me walk in both their gazes fix on me mother gives me a nod and Jane just smiles. Once they acknowledge my presence I walk to the front of the desk and speak.

"Mother as today is my 10th birthday according to ancient rights, I have been giving the right to acquire a name."

Mother was quiet for a little before finally speaking.

"My son you are correct, I have offered to let you name yourself but by your request I shall give you your own name."

She paused before she continued speaking.

"My son through the story you have come to tell me, I grant you the name Fenyang Caelius. Fenyang meaning conqueror and Caelius meaning heaven. Together it is conqueror of heaven, I give you this name for you have beaten death and reclaimed life."

I could only give a wry smile as when I told her the truth I withheld the confrontation I had with the angel, so this name was more accurate than she knows. Thinking about the name it is foreign sounding to me, but I am sure it will grow on me. Replying back to mother I said.

"I am honored to have this name as my own."

Mother got up and went over to a trunk in the corner of the room. She opened it and took out an object covered in a cloth. Holding the object in her hands then walked over to me, and uncovered what I know as a steel broadsword. It is surprising seeing a steel sword this far on the outskirts of the dimension, so I asked mother.

"Mother how is it that you came to acquire a steel weapon, from what I am aware of steel weaponry is very rare in the outskirts of the dimension."

Ignoring my question she said.

"Take this sword as a parting gift, as your mother it is painful knowing we will have to separate. But I know your life journey is much greater than this city. I do not know when you will leave, but I know you will so I give you this my son Fenyang Caelius."

Taking the sword from mother I held it in my hand, it felt as light as a feather for some reason confused I asked mother.

"Mother this sword seems too light to be steel, but I am sure it is steel why is that?"

Mother gave a faint smile and explained.

"That sword has a few enchantments on it, one being to decrease its weight, another to increase the blades sharpness, and lastly an enchantment that cleans the sword of blood."

Letting her words register I am amazed she could get this high quality of weapon. Curious I start to focus on the sword to feel for any form of energy like I did with the mages staff. Inside I indeed can feel energy though not on the same level of the staff it still has quite a good amount. Pleased with my first sword obtained in this world I thank mother.

"Mother I am feeling rather ungrateful to you, you have given me so much yet I have taken from you a precious son."

Mother without responding embraces me, and after a minute or two she lets go and says.

"You are my son, whether you understand it or not I have given birth to you your soul was in the body of the baby in my womb. That to me tells me you are not an invader, but my son so do not worry yourself about it anymore as family we help each other and get helped in return."

Her words make sense I guess I just need to accept the reality of it all. Along with the sword was also a basic scabbard, putting the sword inside of the scabbard I give a slight bow to mother before saying.

"I will take your words to heart, and use your gift to the best of my abilities. But once again I must take from you for as you have guessed now that I have my name I need to leave to search for strength. I would like to leave soon within the week as to when I come back I do not know nor if I will even be able to make it back."

Mother and Jane both had faces of surprise as I just told them I was going to leave within the week. I guess although they knew I was going to leave, they did not think I was going to leave this soon. Not wanting to upset them I said.

"Mother you are a strong woman with compassion, by your side you have Jane always supporting you never leaving your side. With everything I have done to this city you still will need a lot more effort to stabilize everything. I know departing might sadden you, but you must be strong. No matter where I am or what I become I will always be thankful for this life you have given me, along with the knowledge and support. Mother will always be mother and I will always be your son."

Finishing my little speech mother and Jane both started tearing up, mother pulled Jane over and we had a family hug with me trying my best to stop them from being too upset. After a while they finally seemed to have calmed down, and mother said.

"You honor me with your word Fenyang, and makes me as a mother proud. As you have said I need to be strong so when the time comes I will let you see my smile not tears."

Not knowing what to say anymore I excuse myself, and leave the room to go make preparations for travel. The only problem is in order to do that I need to go into town, but I am not well liked there; thinking about it I can only try to hide my face with a cloak.

Looking around the house I found a rather dark cloak that hides my face and most of my body. The effect it gave off was quite good, though my stature is a little short because of my white hair people wouldn't take me for a kid. The faint emerald glow from my eyes could be seen through the darkness the hood casted over my face. Confident in my disguise I headed over to the town for my first actual visit since my ride through the carriage.

Since I did not want to be spotted leaving the manor I used a detour leaving through the forest on the side of the manor I plan on making my way through it and head into the village through the public gate. The forest itself was mostly unexplored people believing in that you do not disturb will not disturb you. Living this far out most people would lack the strength to fight wild animals so they mostly relied on farming for their food source.

The forest was mostly untouched and thus the trees formed a canopy that the sunlight couldn't pierce. It was pure darkness to the point I needed to infuse some energy into my eyes so I could see. When I use this form of transformation my eyes turned into elliptical pupils like a cats and my iris turn a pure white color. I tend to avoid using this ability because I have noticed unlike with my hand transformation if I overuse this my eyes will permanently become like this. Though these might have a lot of advantages to them, they could cause quite a few misunderstandings causing me headaches.

Some of my other transformations are similar in this case so my use of the ability is quite low. Back in my old world though I was a hermit people still knew I was human if I had used these abilities, and let's say my eyes became permanent people would view me as a monster. Though now that I am in a world with such diverse races I should look into what advantages, and disadvantages I could gain my making some permanent transformations.

That should have to wait till I am out of human lands though, because I do not know how they would react. Immersed in my thoughts while walking through the forest my thoughts were interrupted by a faint whimper. It was very faint to the point where I thought I was hearing things, that is until I heard it again. Listening intently I confirmed it seems to be coming from deeper inwards the center of the forest. Curiosity fueling my actions I slowly make my ways towards the sound. After a good half an hour of walking I came upon a breathtaking sight. A beautiful pure white wolf was laying on her side panting heavily. Seemly in pain, injured or something I do not know. Slowly and carefully I walk towards the beautiful wolf as I emerge from the brush into the clearing where the wolf is lying it gives me a heart stopping glance.

Though I have lived a full life and was reincarnated to live again never once have I ever felt a glance so cold. Stopping myself from going further as it was clear it did not approve of me coming closer I sat down and stared at it. The only thought in my mind was how beautiful and majestic it was. As I was staring at it, it turned its head and stared at me. This action surprised me for a couple reason. One being it did not look like it had the energy to waste to even move; secondly looking into its eyes I saw a deep intelligence far surpassing humans. As we were staring at each other it into my transformed eyes me into her beautifully intelligent eyes, to my complete shock it spoke.

"Human I know you are for this is the human dimension those eyes of yours are not the eyes of a human. I do not know what you are or why you are here, but I wish to be alone right now leave."

From her voice I noticed it was a female, her voice was soft but held the power to command. Ignoring her command to leave, after getting over my astonishment over her talking I said.

"I was traveling through the forest when I heard your whimper curious I followed it here. As to what I am I am human my eyes are an ability I have to change so I can see in this dark forest. You have asked me two questions I think it's fair of me to ask in return before leaving?"

The wolf seemed rather taken back by the fact that I not only ignored her command to leave, but started a conversation with her. Looking a little curious she replied.

"Human I will allow it ask then leave"

Not waiting the slightest I asked.

"Why is it that you seem to be in pain?"

She seemed reluctant to answer, but she had said she would so she replied.

"I am dying from a bad pregnancy human, the baby did not come out right and we are both paying our lives for it."

Through this question I have confirmed she is indeed a she, although I had already guessed as much. Also to my surprise she is dying, looking at her I feel rather reluctant to let this creature die. Though I am not a very chivalrous person I am not pure evil. For me it is an arm for a finger, when respect is given my belief is it should be given back. Thinking about this creature in front of me, I look through all my knowledge. In particular I have ways to heal certain things depending on the stability of the patient.

If I can save her I figure I should as her death feels like a waste I used my second question.

"Would you like me to try to heal you?"

This question though seemed to take her by complete surprise, as she looked at me in eyes of disbelief she replied.

"Human I am grateful for your generosity, but I am a monster as such my affinity to light is negative. Any healing magic would only hurt me furthermore I do not feel any magic about you so how is it you plan to heal me."

Replying to her question I simply said.

"I said I would try first step would be let me touch you I need to check on you, and your baby first."

Though she did not believe I could heal her she seemed to accept any form of help, and with her nod of approval I slowly walked closer and put my hand on her stomach. Her fur felt like silk on touch, but on further examination it was extremely tough I doubt my new sword could even cut her. Quickly finishing an external examination I closed my eyes and using the energy I have stored within my body start to probe her for an internal examination. I could feel her energy slowly leaving her body as her baby was unable to move itself in order to leave her womb.

Quickly I gave her some energy to give me a little more time, and I put my full attention on the baby. Saving this baby is the equivalent to saving the mother. Once she gives birth she should be able to naturally recover on her own. With this thought I started to feed the baby my energy allowing it to make slight movements. With those slight movements it was able to wiggle itself into a position that will allow itself to leave the womb.

Once I felt it was in the right spot I stopped supplying energy to it opening in my eyes I felt extremely tired. Babies bodies have no muscles so the amount of energy needed to allow movement is exceedingly high, Luckily animals in general are born with more strength than humans. Also this little one seemed to have exceptional potential in his body. Not wanting to disturb this part of nature I backed away to where I could rest, and not interrupt the mother.

After waiting for what felt like an hour I heard a howl that spread through the sky, a howl of a proud mother that had given birth.
