tl;dr Current book will be staying up on Royal Road until the new year. Edited and polished version will be released after the new year. Amazon release/stubbing to occur in Summer 2025.
Hello everyone.
I would like to thank all of you who have been following God Within Us - it's been a year and some change, and I'm always surprised that I've managed to stick it out with Vasilisa and Yesugei for so long. The last chapter (The Princess and the Serpent) marks roughly the 3/4s point of the dynamic (suffering) duo's journey, and I felt like it was a good place to end off.
And for now, the focus will be on improvement. Over the last little while I've been systemically combing through my work and making some re-writes and small changes here and there to better set up the final arc for the story, and there are several small plot threads which ended up getting dropped, as well as some new perspectives which I would like to add to the story. This will necessitate a significant amount of time, to the point where I don't think I can realistically keep up my upload schedule while also doing rewrites.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Finally, I also genuinely wish to see God Within Us published - my current plan is for an independent Amazon release, and the first book is already pretty much locked and loaded.
So, in short, here is the plan going forward:
1. The current draft of God Within Us will stay up until January 1st, 2025. Afterwards, all chapters will be taken down, except for one which will link to...
2. The polished, finalized version of God Within Us will be uploaded as a separate release. Uploads will be more frequent, and will feature new content, especially in the latter half of the series. This new release will run all the way from the beginning of the series to the very end - so readers will have the chance to read the WHOLE book on RR.
3. Once we hit Summer 2025, the first book (roughly 21 chapters) will be released on Amazon in polished form, and will be stubbed on RR.
With this setup, I'm hoping I can buy myself some more time to really polish up the work to the point where I feel like it can be put to print.
For now though, I want to thank you all again for sticking with this book! It's been a great ride so far, and I hope that Vasilisa and Yesugei will continue to amaze, astound, and amuse when they return.
See you all soon!
