The huge double door to the secret chamber trembled open, as both the short and long hand of the clock turned upward. Exactly six hours after they started the blessing ceremony, it was completed.
The great cathedral that was dead silent a second before became noisy. Those who were praying stopped their prayer and stood to witness the new Chosen One that came out from the door.
Theo watched from the second-floor balcony with Vivi and Ed by his side. He told Vivi about everything that happened with Sara, but he only told Ed not to make a scene. He didn't want Ed to worry about him.
The sound of metal boots stomping the floor silenced the entire hall. Everyone's jaw dropped as soon as they saw the Chosen One.
An extremely handsome and charming young man emerged from the door. His hair crimson ablaze and his eyes ultramarine. His wide smile caused 8 out of 10 women to blush. While everyone expected the Chosen One to be charming and handsome, they didn't think he would be THAT charming.
He wore a combination of heavy and light armor, making him look tough and protected while also still being cool and stylish. His shoulder, lower arm, lower legs, and waist were covered with steel plate while the rest was covered with Hard leather armor. Nothing covered his upper arms, to show off his bicep.
In his right hand a crimson red spear two and a half meters in length. It appeared like a normal spear to normal people, but for those with trained eyes, the spear was breathtaking.
A Legendary weapon. One of only known five in the continent.
"Who is he?"
"People call him 'The Hound'. Though he hate it when people call him that." A voice came from Theo's left. Although he asked, he only meant it for himself and didn't expect any answer.
Theo looked to the source of the voice. A middle-aged man stood on another balcony while leaning on the railing. "He's an adventurer from Ulster Isle. He got that nickname after killing a massive guard dog when he was still a child. A promising young man, but I never thought that he would be the chosen one. Not if you know his...personality and temperament."
"Who are you?" Theo asked.
The man turned his head to Theo and offered a handshake. "I'm Nox. A military officer from the Kingdom of Mosk. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Theo." He answered without shaking Nox's hand. Nox retracted his hand and let out a disappointed sigh.
"I know you, Theo. Word spread fast about how you save Princess Ana from a bandit raid. Shame." He clicked his tongue. "If she died that day, it would destabilize the kingdom enough for Mosk to invade. Like really, why do you have to be there that day?"
"Why are you telling me this?" Theo asked. He showed no interest in his voice.
"Why, you asked? Because I'm a swordsman." He pointed his thumb at the two swords behind his back. One was a Mosk longsword and one was a Nihon Katana. It was a strange combination of weapon. "War gives me....opportunity to test my skill in real battle against famous knights. Call me a warmonger, whatever, but what swordsman want to pass the chance to test their blade against Roderyk, The Black Wing. Against Alex, The Red Devil. Maybe even against Sir Arslan."
Theo didn't budge, he still wasn't interested in the conversation. Nox sighed again. "You don't have to answer if you think this is rude, but what is your level?" Nox asked.
"31."
Nox raised his eyebrows. "31? Roderyk is 37 or something. " He moved his face away from Theo, but his eyes were still fixated on him. "How can you kill him?"
Theo's eyes wandered to Nox. When their gaze met, Nox averted his and began whistling. "I think you misheard the news. I never fought against Roderyk. He died when he tried to save the princess. A shame."
Nox chuckled. "Ohh. Is that so? What a shame, I won't be able to have a rematch with him when we invade Amaryn."
The front door of the Cathedral flung opened, three people entered from it. Everyone turned their head at the sudden interruption and clear a path between them and the Chosen One.
One was a woman in her mid-twenties wearing heavy armor, a sword and shield hanging on her back. The second was a girl in her late teens wearing a light armor with bow and dagger. The third was a man wearing a priest uniform and a staff.
The three of them walked to the chosen one and kneeled in unison. The Chosen One turned his face to see behind him. Two High Priestesses, four High Priests, and the Pontiff were following him from behind. "Who are they?" He asked the pontiff. There was no respect or reverence in the way he asked.
The pontiff wrinkled face showed a forced smile. "They are the group of people that we have carefully selected to accompany you on your journey. They will give their lives and their all to help you during your journey, Chosen One."
The chosen one observed the three people kneeling before him. "Why is there a man here?" He asked the pontiff.
The pontiff was puzzled. "Pardon me, is there any trouble?"
"Of course there's a problem." The chosen one made an 'X' with his arm. "I won't accept any men in my party. Only women, and only beautiful and cute and sexy women."
"I'm sorry chosen one, but there aren't any combat priest more competent than him." The pontiff answered while lowering his head.
"No problem. As long as the combat priest is a beautiful, cute, or sexy women, I don't care even if she's not that competent. She can train during our journey." He then proceeds to argue with anyone that tried to reason with him.
"Look like you got a rival there Theo." Ed teased Theo.
"Rival huh? Hmm... having the chosen one as a rival is not that bad. The problem is he's not in the same class as me. He's still a newbie." Theo replied with a smile brimming with confidence. "What do you think, Vivi?"
Vivi didn't answer him. Her hand clenched hard on the railing and her whole body trembled.
"Hey, Vivi." Theo waved his hand in front of her eyes, but she didn't respond.
"Cu...." A voice escaped from her mouth. A faint voice filled with longing.
"CUUUU!!!!" She shouted her lungs out.
It was a thundering call, but as powerful as it was, the noise of thousand excited people drowned it. Realizing her voice couldn't reach its target no matter how hard she tried, she bit her lips.
"Vivi.," Theo said softly. It was the first time he saw Vivi acted like that. His hand approached her..... but she ran away.
The moment Theo blinked Vivi had disappeared from his sight into the sea of people. He rushed into the crowd, searching for her.
Theo searched around, trying to look for her, but her short body made it impossible to find. Theo looked behind him, at the Chosen One.
She shouted 'Cu'. It was almost impossible to notice anyone individually in that huge crowd. Did she call the chosen one? Or was it one of his companion? Theo wondered.
Even though Theo wasn't sure yet who was the one that she called, he was certain where she was heading to. He wasn't all that concerned with Vivi's relation with this 'Cu' person. She was his. He wasn't going to let her ran away, even if this 'Cu' person was her family or someone that she knew from her past life.
What he feared, however, was her running around with a slave collar on her neck while yelling a person name. That would attract attention towards her and him, something that he mustn't let happen.
Theo's gaze moved from the Chosen One to Sara.
Theo's body frozen, his blood ran cold, and his hair stood on ends.
Sara was looking directly at Theo with a devilish grin on her face. Her finger moved to her lips, telling him to stay low. Or else...
Theo tightened his grip on the stone railing, causing it to crack. Was this part of her plan? Was this what she was aiming for all along?
He turned his face away from Sara to the crowds. There was no time to think what Sara's plan was. "Vivi!" He called with all histh. But like Vivi's voice before, his voice was drowned by the crowd.
