Chapter 0096—Confronting Sky Dominion

There was also a prudent player among them, whose ID was Shum Hung. He was a long-serving member of the guild, and he had a similar standing in the guild as Fong Sai Yuk.

Shum Hung asked, “Perhaps we should inform the guild master first?”

Fong Sai Yuk’s expression took a turn for the worse, his somewhat childish face now showing a rebellious look. “There’s no need for that! It’ll be too late by the time the guild master returns. We’ve spent over half an hour searching for a good spot, and it’s been five hours since the event began. We can’t afford to wait any longer.”

He didn’t say the rest and kept it in his mind: I can do it even without the guild master!

----------------------------------------

“Something’s off.” Everyone looked around, leaving behind Zephyrwolf who had absolutely no idea what was going on.

“What?”

The four of them shot glances at one another and went on guard. The poor Zephyrwolf still didn’t know what they were up to…

“Heh, the killing intent’s so strong that even the stinky swamp can’t cover it.” Idyllic Poet had a chilly look. These brats really are trying their luck.

“Boss, what do we do?”

Seeing Idyllic Poet all pumped up and ready to go, Drako Yau also steeled himself and said, “Let’s fight.”

At that moment, a bang signalled the start of the battle.

A fiery red bullet tore through the air, but Idyllic Poet was ready for it the entire time. She immediately raised a Fire Shield in front of herself. The bullet clashed with the flames, creating a tiny spark before disintegrating.

After class progression, rangers could choose between longbows and hunting rifles. Longbows had better attack speed, while hunting rifles were superior in dealing damage. It was difficult to say which was the better option.

“They know we’re here.” Fong Sai Yuk was a bit surprised because they were found out even though they had concealed themselves the entire time. There was only one reason: the enemy detected their killing intent.

“Go all out. There’s no need to hide now that they know we’re here.”

Fong Sai Yuk was confident about the operation. Everyone present were Sky Dominion’s elites; they were more than enough to slay a few random passersby. However, he had overlooked the fact that the ‘random passersby’ were strong enough to detect their killing intent.

Several shadows emerged from the forest, each with the guild name “Sky Dominion” above their heads, which was only to be expected. Still, the five knew the enemies were no ordinary players because only core members of the guild could take part in the event in a dangerous place like Highlands of John.

“Poet, defend Greenstone together with me. Dan, Zephyrwolf, take care of their cleric.”

“Gotcha!” Zephyrwolf plucked out the summoning token, which expanded rapidly and morphed into the gigantic demon wolf king. It pointed its snout at the sky and howled.

“Demon wolf! He’s the Wolf King, Zephyrwolf!” The Sky Dominion members easily recognised the iconic pet. Upon seeing the awe-inspiring demon wolf king, they all tensed up; Zephyrwolf was currently taking Yoda by storm after all.

Danting couldn’t care less about such things though. He unsheathed the gigantic greatsword from his back and charged into the enemy formation while laughing like a maniac. A dark aura shrouded his sword, and it shot out waves of aura with every attack.

“What’s that!” Startled by the crazy attacks, the Sky Dominion players struggled to defend against Danting.

Danting used to be Chau Yu’s secret weapon, so he kept the magic swordsman behind the curtains while supplying him with the best equipment. Chau Yu had never expected that he would hand Danting over for free before he could even use the powerful fighter as a trump card.

Clang!

Metal clashed against metal—a stern middle-aged man blocked Danting’s greatsword with his tower shield. He was Shum Hung, Sky Dominion’s number one paladin.

“I’ll hold him back! You guys go do some damage!”

“Alright!”

A weaponmaster, a berserker, and an assassin all responded to his call and charged at Danting. It was a one versus four situation, yet Danting made a brilliant grin at the four enemies.

“The mission boss gave me isn’t to brawl with you all here.”

A silver magic formation appeared beneath him. The next moment, Danting vanished from their sight.

“He’s gone?”

“Over here!2

A cleric turned around with his jaws wide open to find the same silver magic formation showing up in the air behind him. Danting materialised from the formation and hacked at the cleric with his sword.

“Save the cleric!” Fong Sai Yuk yelled as he turned around to defend the two clerics in the rear.

A purple shadow lunged at him the next moment, and all he could see were razor-sharp teeth of a wolf gnawing at him. Zephyrwolf guffawed and said, “Stay here like a good boy.” He then landed a kick on Fong Sai Yuk who lay on the ground.

“Level 18 warrior skill, Crippling Kick: slows down the enemy for 3 seconds.”

Zephyrwolf unsheathed Night’s Venator and rushed at the other players.

The enemy took care of ten of us with just two men?

“Draw back! The clerics must not die!” Shum Hung calmly gave the order to his guild mates.

He knew clearly that if their clerics died, the battle would go downhill for them. Worries and anxiousness also emerged in his mind at the sight of Mask and the mage who defended the enemy cleric.

The masked man… he was still fighting monsters!

That guy’s farming event items even in a fight!

It was obvious that he didn’t even consider them as a threat.

It wasn’t that Drako Yau was arrogant. Instead, it was his way of showing trust in his squad members. Danting, Zephyrwolf, and Idyllic Poet were all first-rate players, not to mention Greenstone who was a master in healing. As long as Greenstone was alive, there weren’t a lot of people who could threaten them—at least the conceited Sky Dominion members weren’t part of that group.

As such, Drako Yau decided to farm monsters instead of helping out. Even Idyllic Poet was at a loss for words at how chill and confident her boss was.

In this fight, the difference in strength between Zephyrwolf and Danting was obvious. Zephyrwolf was starting to reach his limit under the encirclement of the Sky Dominion players, especially when Fong Sai Yuk was one of his enemies.

“Snap Punch!” Fong Sai Yuk roared as he threw a punch at Zephyrwolf’s chest, knocking him to the ground.

Danting wasn’t the only one with a hidden class. Fong Sai Yuk also had one—Pugilist.

Just when he wanted to follow up with more attacks, a simple Fireball interrupted him, forcing him to halt his step for a brief moment. It was, however, enough for Zephyrwolf to catch his breath and ready himself once again.

Fong Sai Yuk shot a cold glare at Idyllic Poet, who waved at him and said, “Aw… Don’t stare at me like that, I’m shy…”

In the guild display menu, one of their two clerics had already died under Danting’s barrage of attacks. The two rangers also finally gave up their original goal of killing Greenstone.

With Idyllic Poet and her Fire Shield in the way, they had practically zero chance of hurting Greenstone. Even if they managed to punch through her spell, Idyllic Poet could always tank the damage while Greenstone could heal her with nothing but a wave of his staff.

On the contrary, Zephyrwolf was already locked onto their second cleric while Danting was engaging their first cleric. They had almost no time to cast heals on their fighters.

“If this goes on… we’ll lose…?” Fong Sai Yuk couldn’t believe his eyes.

They were all elites of Sky Dominion. Eight of them were above Level 20, while the two clerics were Level 18. Yet they somehow lost to five random players?

Fong Sai Yuk focused his eyes on Greenstone.

Greenstone’s heals were perfectly timed to keep Zephyrwolf, Idyllic Poet, and Danting at above eighty per cent Health. Keeping squad members at around seventy to eighty per cent Health was the golden standard for clerics. Fong Sai Yuk realised he was up against a well-trained cleric just from looking at his performance in combat.
