CHARACTERS
Frieda
The main character’s Gorlen sidekick. She can craft crude health packets.
“The fluffball had gotten to his feet, but he wasn’t in an offensive stance. Long clawed hands, similar to those on an anteater, tipped his long furry arms. Two big, black eyes gazed fearfully at me in the dark, reflecting what little moonlight managed to pierce the entrance to the cave.
He trembled, high-pitched squeaks leaving him in spurts while he crouched in an even more condensed ball than before. His stubby black toes peeked out from underneath the shaking mass of dark brown fur.
He was only three feet tall.”
Rexcelsis, Chaotic Monarch
Also known as Grandpa Greedy or Daddy Doomray, Rex is an apex predator that resembles a black-spotted, brown sugar-colored t-rex with horns.
“The trees broke as I scrambled away from my pursuers and into the bright open plains. I blinked as my eyes adjusted to the lack of shade, and crashed face-first into a brown pillar of muscle, tipped with talons the size of my head. I fell to the ground, trembling, and looked up into the glaring yellow eyes of what I could only imagine was another Jungle God.
The head of the monster was nearly the size of Sailboat’s, but without accurate metrics, there was no way to say for sure. It seemed a bit shorter, though. Maybe.
This monster, however, wasn’t a spinosaurus. Nope, this one reminded me purely of a tyrannosaurus rex. A tyrannosaurus rex that had been birthed from the womb of an elder god taking a vacation in the Jurassic. An elder god with anger issues.
The skin was burnt sand, the color of the brown sugar my mom used in her delectable snickerdoodles. But somehow, on this dinosaur, it didn’t look so delicious.
Black spots dotted the T-Rex’s chest and head, the design resembling a sort of tribal hunter look, and two wickedly sharp and spiked horns sprouted from its skull, curling around the head like a deadly halo. A thick white scar ran down the side of its face, and droplets of something wet dripped down on me from its mouth."
Djanak, Jungle God
Also known as Sailboat, Djanak is a red-spattered white spinosaurus-like dinosaur that commands an unknown number of Deotrexaptors.
“Probably forty-feet tall, with a head the size of a van. The massive white reptile that growled viciously in my direction seemed as though it’d been painted with blood. Red splatters dotted its skin, and leaked down the side of its body, staining it. A dark sail shot from the back of the creature, rising high into the sky, and nearly touching the low branches of the massive trees surrounding the river.
Angry yellow eyes peered over a long snout towards me, and as the monster snarled, its lips pulled back, revealing row upon row of deadly, sharp teeth. Two massive fangs protruded from the front of its mouth, dripping drool.”
Elder Nature Spirit

A mysterious entity who assisted Frieda when called upon. Something precious of hers was once saved by the Gorlen.
“Locks of luscious green hair cascaded down from her head, interwoven with feathers, flowers, and jewels. Her blue eyes sparkled in the dim light, her radiant smile warming my heart. She wore a white dress, trimmed with a silver lining. It cinched around her waist but hung freely over the end of the chair. One pale leg rested over another, her naked foot swinging playfully.”
Siren of the Watering Hole
A creature that fed on young dinosaurs by drowning them with an entrancing magic.
“The woman there was beautiful. She was the prettiest person I’d ever seen. It was an inhuman perfection, and yet, somehow, she reminded me of my mother. Her blue eyes sparkled as she smiled wide at me, joy evident in her gaze. Silver locks of hair floated around her, shining in the light piercing the water.”
“...the tail fully emerged from the water, like a serpent being dragged from its den.
It was actually a pretty disgusting sight, covered in some sort of slime, and tipped with fins.”
Bug-sama
This one is in here as a joke because people love Bug-sama. I don’t know why…
“Bug-sama will rise again!”
Ki Grenzer, the Unbent
Also known as Super Saiyan Santa Slice, this human, accompanied by two squires, seemingly hunts Gorlens.
“A burly man, dressed in leather armor, came running out of the woods. A fat sack tied closed at the top rested over his shoulder.
It gave me the impression of Santa. If Santa were equipped with countless blades hanging from straps all over his body.
Thick, sharp knives like cleavers adorned his legs, and a heavy mace hung under his waist. A bow was slung over his shoulder, the quiver hanging beside the mace, and a thick, weighted net hung from the other hip. His shocking black hair grew upwards in a rush, forming spikes like he was hiding yet more blades in there.”
Barlan, Yatten Squire
A human squire who accompanies Grenzer.
“There was a handsome shirtless guy with brown hair splashing her with water from inside the pond, and he shouted out to her, laughing.”
Shella, Yatten Squire
A human squire who accompanies Grenzer.
“...the beautiful blonde girl, dressed in what I could best describe as a green fantasy bikini. Weird description, I know, but it definitely wasn’t a normal swimsuit material.”
