Chapter 2: Null
(1 day until Game of Soul becomes real)
It had been 2 days since the weird encounter with Omen and the half demon man. My friends were over to hang out and watch movies with me, so I recounted the events to them.
“There’s no way you’re telling the truth man, Omen is a single combat zone!” my friend Tyler, known as Se7en ingame, said.
“I’m telling you, it happened. Do you think I took on Omen myself or something?” I replied.
“Yeah, there’s no way you beat Omen alone, we couldn’t even do it as a group...but, you have continued to play frequently since we left the game, so it is possible you gained enough SoulScore to beat him, that’s the only logical explanation for how you have a Balefire Scroll.” My friend Jason, known as Tengaku in game (Music of the Heavens), reasoned.
“Well, I wasn’t strong enough to beat Omen, I didn’t even have the minimum recommendations from the tutorial videos, and I didn’t find a glitch anywhere, so it is impossible. Plus, I don’t have the ‘Bane of Omen’ title, so clearly I didn’t defeat him.” I replied.
Jason pondered for a moment, “Maybe you got Balefire from a trade?” Jason said.
“No Jason, Balefire is soulbound, you can’t trade it. He clearly either clutched up against Omen or he’s actually telling the truth.” Tyler said.
“Maybe the half demon guy was using a glitch?” I responded.
“Not likely, single combat zones are very simple programming and Omen has been in the game for quite some time. Plus, someone powerful enough to dominate Omen like that should be able to enter the zone normally as much as he wants anyway, so no point in using a glitch.” Tyler said.

“Well, whatever it is, congrats on the item! I know you wanted it since we made our characters basically, so good for you! Now you can carry us through Omen! I still want that legendary Robe of Cataclysms.” Jason said.
“No shot, that robe has a 1 percent drop chance…” Tyler said.
“Well, whatever, let’s just watch this movie and login tomorrow, you guys can use my spare computer.” I said.

“WAKE UP BAKU!” My eyes fluttered open as I rolled in my sleeping bag, the voice was overlaid, it sounded like I was hearing the output from a megaphone and Jason’s normal voice at the same time. As my eyes opened, I saw a familiar bearded man with a wide-brimmed wizard hat standing over me on my right, and a muscular man with dragon scale armor on my left. “Wait a second…” I thought, I knew these characters, they were Tengaku and Se7en from Game of Soul.
“What the hell” I said.
“Isn’t it cool? We turned into our characters from the game!” Se7en said.
“What do you mean, are you cosplaying or something? Those muscles look real” I replied.
“No, not a cosplay, I just said my character’s name and just suddenly swapped into him and gained all of the knowledge about casting spells and stuff” Tengaku said.
“Yeah, we experimented a bit before waking you up, apparently, if you say your character’s ingame name out loud, you can swap into them, and if you say your real life name, you swap out of them, watch,” Se7en said.
“Tyler.”
After the name left his mouth, Se7en’s character model morphed around a bit and shined with white light, that eventually petered out and revealed Tyler’s normal body.
“Holy crap. I wanna try!” I said.
“Baku.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, a blindness covered my vision for a couple seconds, and afterward I looked down to see the familiar Pure Vestment of Haku, a super-rare tier drop from the boss before Omen known as Haku.
“Holy...crap... What the hell is going on?” I said.
“No idea, but we heard some clangorous noises outside which is why we woke you up, we should probably go check those out” Tyler said, before swapping with Se7en again.
“Do we...have our powers from Game of Soul?” I asked.
“Seems like it, sorry about your coffee maker by the way…” Tengaku said.
“Wh-” I stuttered, before being interrupted by a loud flare noise from outside of the nearest window.
We rushed over to the nearest window and peered out of it to find an elf and a greater demon standing in a crater in my cul-de-sac.
