In the heart of an ancient, mysterious forest on a distant continent, a solitary soul lingered. Unlike the fleeting souls that typically disperse into the cosmic ether over time, this one remained strangely resilient.

As time passed, the soul started drifting aimlessly.

Time unfurled before this ethereal voyager, guiding it across verdant plains and soaring over icy mountain peaks.

It traversed vast blue seas and witnessed the fury of raging storms. Eventually, it drew near a bustling human city.

And as the soul drew near...in the confines of its formless existence, the soul experienced a feeling so strong it completely took over its rudimentary mind.

What the soul felt was...

Negary Pov :

As I laid down on my bed with my flesh costume on , I thought about what the hell just happened.

I remember getting back to my chamber after messing with Varys a bit , ruffling Leaf's hair again , (much to her displeasure) and then starting on my daily Greensight training.

I was following the Three Eyed Raven's advice of ,,melding with nature,, or at least my best attempt at it.

Whether or not I was on the right track was anyone's guess.

'Maybe I should have strengthened Bran's soul a bit more...' I remember thinking before doing my usual improvised method.

I was mostly just allowing my mana to flow freely in the atmosphere while thinking of nothing in particular...just trying to sense the life around me.

Unfortunately, besides being able to understand animals (I still couldn't talk back to them though) , I didn't make much progress.

I was on the edge of just saying fuck it and putting it on the back-burner until I managed to get further instructions from the Raven .

I couldn't afford to waste time with fruitless endeavors, at least I didn't think so.

Not when my enemies were hiding in the dark and I was in the open...

But I didn't manage to finish that train of thought before I was positively YEETED into...a vision?

Yeah , most likely, and from the staggeringly low amount of humans I saw , it should have been the past that was depicted...

But why did I see that specifically?

What the hell was with that random soul?

And damn...that hunger...

I bet it would be almost equal to 1% of Shaggy's hunger for Scooby Snacks.

Scary...

But before I could contemplate any further, I was broken out of my musings by my green attendant's voice.

"So you succeeded...the Raven said you might be able to..." she said while looking at me weirdly.

The Raven huh?

That damned bird knew much more than he let on , that's for sure.

"Why so surprised , Leafy?"

"Stop calling me that...and to answer your question..." She began , her eyes seemingly unfocused "It took me many decades to cultivate the right state of mind needed to merge with the world's flow. Seeing someone achieve this so easily..." She suddenly stopped talking as she shook herself out of her reverie .

"It doesn't matter..." she continued. "This is only the first step. The journey towards mastery is long and riddled with pitfalls..."

She stopped talking once again when she saw the amused smile on my face.

To think the day would come when a wood goblin would preach to me about the importance of perseverance...When did my life get so crazy? It feels like yesterday I was trying to build my own machine learning model...

'Ah , the good old times' I thought in reminisce.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

"*Humph* Why do I even bother with you?" My soon to be acolyte stormed of through the castle wall , seemingly irritated by my dismissive attitude.

'Good , we are making progress' I thought as I recalled all the times Leaf had shown emotional responses to any kind of stimulus .

These occurrences were getting more frequent as time passed, especially when I was interacting with her.

Now , there were two possibilities.

The first one that presumed Leaf to possess insanely good acting skills , able to completely and utterly make a fool out of me.

Suffice to say , this possiblity was slim. Not nonexistent for sure , but slim.

What was much more likely was the fact that I was starting to get under her skin (bark?).

It wasn't that much of a surprise, honestly , that a depressive individual would react positively to some friendliness and companionship, coupled with a healthy dose of hope.

And even though I hadn't eaten the soul of a psychologist (yet) , Leaf was clearly depressed.

No amount of tree genes in your DNA would protect your mental state if you saw your brethren eaten one by one in front of you.

It was good that time had quelled her thirst for revenge against the Seven Stars , because it now gave me the opportunity to fan her flames once more.

I could still sense her , using my soul perception, slowly drifting towards the nearest patch of forest , no doubt to think about my proposal.

But I knew what she would choose...and she knew as well.

'It's only a matter of time now...'

Time that I wasn't sure I had , unfortunately.

My cannon knowledge turned out to only be moderately useful in dealing with my current situation.

I knew that there was clearly a war going on , but I didn't knew the "why's" and the "how's"

Wait...visions , at least as they were depicted in the show , worked in such a way that they gave the dreamer the answers they were seeking, or at least pointed then in the right direction.

Then... would that soul I saw be related to...

Interesting...

"Very interesting..." I spoke slowly, while looking towards the ceiling of my room.

I used to think the past-seeing ability of greensight was the one I needed the least...It turns out it might actually be the most important...

.

"Well , enough daydreaming for now , I would say" I spoke once more as I exited the confines of my mortal coil , letting it flop on the mattress.

I can't deny the fact that it feels good to lie down and just think about my problems, but without getting up and working towards solving them , I would only make them harder as time went on.

So let's increase my personal power a bit , no?

I was unfortunately maxed out for the moment in the soul foundation department , and until I managed to find/create a soul refinement method , I would be stuck at a 500 man soul.

But that did not mean that souls were useless to me , no no no.

Quite the opposite.

'There are still many ways I can use souls , especially those of skilled people...' and with that in mind , I reached towards the bed using my soul manipulation.

And lo and behold, as much as 50 souls in an (almost) pristine condition poured out.

These were the souls of the people I deemed too useful to simply be drained, and decided to steal their years of hard work instead.

And yes...I hid them under my bed because I couldn't think of any other less weird place to put them...

Leaf was quite weirded out when she sensed them, but when I asked her where she would have put them , she answered "Inside a tree trunk" like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"And then I'm the weird one" I mumbled as I literally torn apart the first soul , searching for all it's combat experience I could extract before it collapsed.

This guy used to be a retired soldier ,much like most of the the other souls I collected, and in his youth, he was a formidable warrior on the battlefield. His weapon of choice was a spear, a weapon that he wielded with deadly precision. He was known for his agile footwork and swift strikes. His fighting style was marked by fluid movements, using the length of the spear to keep his enemies at bay while still being able to strike with lethal accuracy. He was an expert at anticipating his opponent's moves, often parrying their attacks with the haft of his spear before countering with a thrust or a sweep. This guy was a force to be reckoned with in his prime, and his skill with the spear was the cream of the crop.

He was definitely not comparable to Barristan, but who cares?

He was good enough.

And now , after absorbing (maybe) a fifth of his experience I suddenly knew how to fight using a spear.

I could remember countless hours spent repeating the same motions , and many battles in which I had to test my mettle. But that was all...I made sure to cleanse the memories properly. Everything surrounding ,,me,, in those memories was muted and blurry, and even the faces of my enemies were blank as a sheet of paper.

'Good start ,now let's try to improve the amount of skill I can absorb...'

.

And so, I continued to absorb the collective experiences of numerous individuals. The majority were soldiers, but there were also former street urchins who eked out their existence through thievery, as well as wanderers from distant lands who had found themselves in Westeros for various reasons.

As I absorbed these souls, I felt a growing sense of power and improvement coursing through me. The memories of countless battles, strategies, and skills became mine.

I reveled in this newfound strength, like a sponge soaking up knowledge.

With each soul I absorbed, I became more formidable, more skilled , 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.

It was as if I could see the world with a thousand sets of eyes, and my mind became a treasure trove of experiences.

I couldn't help but savor the taste of mastery and the sensation of becoming something greater than I ever imagined in my previous world.

Their skills and knowledge flowed into me like a river of enlightenment. I gained mastery over an array of weapons, from the swift and deadly strikes of the sword to the precision of the spear, the accuracy of the bow, the raw power of the axe, and the subtle art of daggers. Each fighting style was etched into my being, ready to be called upon at will.

But it didn't stop at combat. I absorbed the craft of stealth and camouflage, becoming a shadow in plain sight, capable of blending into any environment , allowing me to move undetected through the darkness of the night.

I was now also able to converse fluently in Low Valyrian and the tongue of the Quarth , which was cool...

'And this is only the beginning. This is only one city and I was here for about a week now. How much will I improve in a month , a year or more?

I wondered in my mind.

'Still...these skills , while useful, pale in comparison to what I would gain from even one sorcerer...But I don't know of any here in King's Landing.'

'Hmm , they are not sorcerers , but those alchemists that made Wildfire should have some interesting stuff for me' I thought, a small smile forming on my ethereal face.

I wasn't even surprised when less then two hours later , I was întrerupted from my sparring session with Ser Barristan by a messenger raven , probably sent by Varys.

My friend Murphy must have decided it has been too long since the last time he fucked with my plans.

.

'Well...shit...' was my only thought as I read the message. I was expecting something along these lines to happen, but it was till annoying.

Long story short.

.

Lysa Arryn was dead , having committed suicide in her grief.

.

Her son , Robin Arryn was to be brought to the capital , being just 10 years old , while Vale would be run by Lysa's advisors until Robin matured enough to rule.

.

The King and his Hand , having finished their business to Vale , were now coming back towards the capital.

.

But there was a teeny-tiny problem.

The king....

For some reason...

"Her brain was cooking, her consciousness fading for a moment before she was back, gasping for air but once again, there was nothing to breathe.

There was only heat.

Heat and fire.

An eternity passed.

Only the speck of a thought pushing her forward.

Forward.

It was all she knew.

All she was."

I shall use a (+ or -) to show improvement for now.

adept -> adept(+) -> expert(-) -> expert

Also ,a novice usually has at most a few months of experience. He becomes an adept after an year or so.

An adept becomes an expert in 5-10 years of focused training.

An expert becomes a master in 20-50 years of focused training.

Just absorbing the souls of multiple adepts does not make one a master though, at most they will be a well rounded adept.
