The man fell to the floor as Sunny landed on him; he watched the life drain from his eyes and relished in the exhilaration that followed. Sunny pulled the previously polished silver knife out of his attacker’s chest and threw it at his partner; the knife slid into the man's throat and ended his life before he even knew it.
His eyes widened and his mouth parted slightly as he fell to his knees, blood flowed out of his neck and slipped through his fingers as he tried to stop the bleeding. Sunny stood up slowly, his muscles began to heat up the more he worked them out; the flashing lights above him added a certain horror movie vibe to the atmosphere.
“It’s the little things in life you just gotta appreciate”
He murmured as he took note of the blood slowly pooling around him, his heart sped up as he felt a sense of wrongness about what he had just done, the feeling of taking another person’s life was undeniably wrong…..yet it was so addicting that it was almost ironic.
Forcing himself to turn his thoughts back to the mission and away from moral dilemmas, he continued onward while trying not to mind the blood on his clothes. Say what you want about him but he held pride in his cleanliness. It wasn’t long until he came across another set of men sent to obstruct him who sported black suits and sunglasses so dark he wondered if they could even see through them.
He did not have time to debate that however, as one of the men dipped his hand into his jacket and retrieved a pistol before levelling it at him. Sunny rushed toward the nearest man in black and grabbed him, the plan was to use him as a shield to absorb the bullets. Sure, maybe he had a family, a wife or just a dog who really loved him but what was that to Sunny anyway? Sunny felt the bullets as they made contact with his body; nine shots rang out before he heard the click of the gun which signalled that his attacker was out of bullets.
Sunny shoved the body of his now dead shield forward and into the man wielding the gun before he dove to the right, just in time to avoid being stabbed. He rolled into a kneeling position and looked up at his assailant.
Sunny smiled
“Attacking someone from behind isn’t nice, I could’ve died you know”
The man's nose flared before he rushed at Sunny, followed closely by his similarly dressed companions.
Obviously Sunny couldn’t take out all of them by himself so he searched around his duffle bag for additional help. His smile widened as his hand wrapped around something metallic, he pulled it out the bag and pointed it at his attackers who hurriedly skidded to a halt as their eyes landed on it.
“Looks like we have ourselves a good old fashioned stand-off, boys”
Sunny couldn’t help but laugh at his own joke as he pulled back the hammer of the handgun and let loose six consecutive shots, all aimed at different targets.
Admittedly, he was a pretty good shot and luckily his targets refused to move after he pulled out his gun; though he guessed they didn’t move because they didn’t have enough time but that wasn't important. Six gunshots and four dead bodies later, he got up and continued his journey through the halls, idly watching the paintings as he passed them; it might've been his imagination but it seemed the eyes of the paintings were following him as he walked.
Time passed as he made his way through the halls until he arrived at his destination, a steel door stood defiantly before him.
“I’m not too sure Mr Bigshot’s gonna like me barging into this place”
A smile spread across Sunny's face as the thought of ruffling some guy in a suit’s feathers played across his mind, without any further hesitation he turned the knob and walked in.
Sunny whistled as he took in the sight of thousands of computers lined off in neat rows. He strode through the room while casually eyeing them. They all looked so new and shiny, it’d be a shame if someone messed with em. He randomly chose a computer and pulled a long cable out of his wristwatch and plugged it in, both his watch and the computer screen lit up before they synced and the files began transferring.
Sunny casually sat on the table and waited, twiddling his thumbs as he listened to the constant beeping of his watch. After several minutes of silence, his watch began to beep rapidly; he winced at the loud noise and plugged it out of the computer.
“Well, my job here is done”
With measured strides, Sunny strolled out of the room and came face to face with the nozzle of a pistol.

“Well you sure took your time”
The cigarette breath and yellowed teeth of Bryan, Sunny's right hand man, greeted him as the gun was lowered and tucked into Bryan's pants. Sunny smiled at him before glancing at his watch; they had twelve more minutes before the cops were on their asses.
“Let’s get moving, I don’t know about you but I’m not too keen about going to prison”
Bryan laughed as he followed behind Sunny. he didn’t have to turn around to see the smirk on his face; he always was a cheery fellow.
“I’m sure you’d sooner beat those poor officers to death before you let them take you anywhere. I keep telling you bro, violence is never the answer”
His answer caused Sunny to smile, he shook his head but chose not to reply, now certainly wasn’t the time for friendly banter. They quickly made their way back through the halls sunny took to get to the server room, stepping over corpses as they continued on.
Bryan whistled in surprise as he stepped over a corpse
“Poor bastards didn’t even know what hit em”
“Wasn’t my fault they chose to shoot first, I was defending myself”
“Riiiiiight, Of course you were”
Sunny rolled his eyes as they began descending the stairs, their steps echoed as they hurriedly took each step. The items in his duffle bag jingled as the bag bounced around. Sunny's heart raced as they increased their travel speed until they finally made it to the bottom of the stairs.
“Alright people, let’s move!!”
Sunny made his way across the room but stopped as he pushed open the door; he looked over his shoulder and smiled at the scared men and women kneeling on the floor.
“I thank you for your cooperation ladies and gents; you’ve been a wonderful audience. The police are already on their way so there is no need to call them and should any of you think about giving up my identity…..well; I’d honestly like it if you did that”
He couldn’t stop the smile before it appeared on his face as he imagined all the blood he could spill if the police knew his identity and managed to find him. A few of the men and women recoiled as they saw him smile, causing him to chuckle before finally stepping out the door.
A black van was parked in front of the building, the side door slid open and Bryan poked his head out and nodded at him. Sunny briskly made his way over and got in before closing the door behind him.
“Did everyone make it?”
Sunny nodded in confirmation before the driver floored the gas pedal causing the van to lurch forward, wheels screeching.
The sirens were gradually getting closer but it was too late for them to catch them now, not unless their cars were charged up with jet fuel which he doubted; he had no idea why the government had neglected to take better care of their police force but he wasn't about to start complaining, especially not when it worked in his favor.
As they got farther away from the building, Sunny saw Bryan dig into his pocket and pull out a detonator.
“Why’d you bring that?” he couldn't help but ask
Bryan smirked at him and winked before pressing the button, the van rocked as a loud explosion came from behind.
“What the fuck was that!?”
His ears were ringing and his vision swam as he turned to face Bryan whose smirk never left his face even though he seemed slightly queasy from all the jerking the van was doing; his goofy smile just made Sunny want to laugh.
“Happy twenty-sixth birthday, bro!!”
Sunny barely registered his voice over the loud screams and the roaring of the engine but at least the ringing in his ears was beginning to subside.
“I was trying to get fireworks but then I remembered they banned those!”
“And you thought bombing an entire building was the better alternative?!”
“Well, it got the job done didn’t it?!”
A barking laughter followed his statement, sometimes he just seemed so sure of himself that it was really hard to argue with him.
“You’re out of your fucking mind you know that?”
Still, Sunny couldn’t stop himself from smiling; Sure, Bryan might have a few screws loose but despite that there’s no one he'd trust more to watch his back. Bryan threw an arm around his shoulder and leaned in.
“We’re gonna make it far in this game, bro. Believe that”
He patted Sunny on the back before returning to his reclined position, closing his eyes and crossing his arms across his chest. Sunny smiled and shook his head as he turned away from him. His mind turned to the events that transpired today as well as what the future had in store for them; Bryan’s words played in his head like an old record stuck on repeat while the screams of panic echoed all around them.
‘I don’t doubt that we’ll make it far, but at what cost?’
