Legendary Mech

The U3-173 combat spaceship's escape pod is about a hundred meters long, shaped like a cigar. The front end is the cockpit, the middle is the mech bay, and the last thirty or so meters of space is the ion reactor. Inside the mech bay is a pure white super mech, the vehicle of Major General Samuel White, codenamed by the Galactic Alliance as "White Lightning".

The Galactic Alliance classifies combat mechs into five levels.

Junior Mechs: Junior mechs are usually the most basic type of mech, with limited functionality. They may only be able to perform simple tasks, such as patrolling, transporting, or building. Junior mechs may be equipped with basic weaponry and defense equipment, but their performance is usually not sufficient to handle higher-level mechs.

Intermediate Mechs: Intermediate mechs are stronger than junior mechs, with more functions and capabilities. They can perform more complex tasks, such as combat, reconnaissance, and rescue. Intermediate mechs are usually equipped with more weapons and defense systems, and their performance is also higher. The mass-produced combat mech "Falcon" is an example of an intermediate mech.

Advanced Mechs: Advanced mechs are the most powerful and advanced type of mech. They have advanced weapons and defense systems and can perform the most dangerous and complex tasks. Advanced mechs may also have other special abilities, such as visual invisibility, special environment combat capabilities, etc.

Super Mechs: Super mechs are a type of custom mech, tailored by the Galactic Alliance for senior officers. This kind of mech has ultra-high mobility, personalized weapons combat systems, which can allow these experienced senior officers to exert a hundred percent of their combat power.

Legendary Mechs: Legendary mechs are the highest secret of the Galactic Alliance, a very rare and powerful type of mech. They are usually regarded as legendary existences because their performance and abilities far exceed those of other mechs. The abilities that legendary mechs possess are usually irreplicable. Once a legendary mech is manufactured, no matter how much effort is expended, another mech with the same abilities cannot be manufactured. This is the principle of uniqueness of legendary mechs.

Redflame is a legendary mech with the ability to extract energy from the vacuum, which allows Redflame to have endless energy and never have energy consumption problems. When Redflame has such an ability, the Galactic Alliance cannot build another super mech with vacuum zero-point energy. This is the uniqueness principle of the legendary mech.

Redflame can't stand up straight in the cockpit, he can only squat inside. Although it's very inconvenient, he'd rather not stay alone in the mech bay, where there's only a boring low-level mech.

"Hey Homie, can your ability help me change my appearance? Like making me a bit smaller, or directly turning me into a human."

Leo, who was using his consciousness energy to delve into the escape pod's control panel, preparing to turn off the escape pod's positioning system, answered succinctly, "No."

"Oh Homie, can you teach me how to use your kind of energy? I think I can learn to change myself."

"No. It's an instinct."

"Hey Homie, can you help me get the magazine? It's over there, in the second slot of the cabinet, the one with the bunny girl on it, yes, that one."

"Hey Homie, can you..."

"Homie, can you..."

"No!" Leo felt that ever since Redflame got on the escape pod, his brain has been constantly bombarded with Redflame's chatter.

Redflame, hearing Leo's refusal, happily said to Leo, "Hey Homie, that's great, you're becoming more and more like a real human, not an emotionless AI."

Leo was slightly puzzled and said, "I was a human to begin with."

Redflame shook his head and said, "No, no, Homie, your previous responses were like a computer, answering every question. Humans should have their own personalities, they won't say 'okay' to everything."

Leo seemed to understand what Redflame was saying, "I'm curious, how did you manage not to talk to those humans when you were being studied by them?"

Redflame honestly answered, "I was scared that those humans would discover my uniqueness and then get rid of me."

"Oh!" Leo understood, then without any restraint, his gaze lingered on a few critical points of Redflame for a fraction of a second.

Redflame was so scared that he shrunk his neck and quickly said, "Hey Homie, that's great, you even know how to joke now."

Leo, staring at Redflame's vacuum zero-point energy core, asked expressionlessly, "What joke?"

Redflame felt the temperature in the escape pod dropping. He felt that if he said another word, he might genuinely be disassembled by Leo. Not wanting to back down directly, he just huffed and stopped talking.

Of course, Leo didn't really want to destroy Redflame. If he didn't want to listen to Redflame, he could just block his own thought perception. However, Leo preferred Redflame to shut up on his own. Perhaps this was what Redflame meant when he said Leo was becoming more and more like a real human.

Leo turned off the escape pod's positioning system and borrowed some energy from his powerful "friend" that could be used in the ion reactor. This way, he could confidently operate the escape pod towards the edge of the Galactic Alliance - Freedom City.

After doing all this, Leo noticed that Redflame was sitting on the ship's board, his mechanical arms wrapped around his curved mechanical legs, his head raised, listlessly looking at the void outside the escape pod where there was no light at all. He looked like he had lost all will to live.

Finding this scene somewhat amusing, Leo took the initiative to say to Redflame, "Homie, I might have another way to change your appearance."
