'So what now?' i thought whilst floating in deep space
...
'Now, I’m going to make a magic system.' I respond to my own question
'How though?' I ask myself. Already knowing the answer.
'Well there are a few ways' I responded having thought of those in my previous life in an attempt to find out how those systems would work if they really existed.
'First you can create an energy that responds to the imagination of the user and makes it reality, but that's a recipe for creating megalomaniacs' I thought not realizing the irony of that sentence.
'Because well if you get the power to do anything then there would no doubt be those people that think they are god'.
'You could switch that up and make the energy respond to certain patterns, like runes of magic circles, but that would mean imagining a lot of those patterns and i don't have the patience for that'.
'Then you can also go the generic route of making a system, but then I'll have to define what the stats are like what can str 1 do in comparison to str 1.000'.
After some thought I decided to make a system for the first try.
'Then what should I use for the stats?'
Again, I thought about possible options, but I finally decided to make stats a modifier to reality.
To explain you have 2 people, one man who can lift 10 kilos and a boy who can lift 2.
They both have 1 strength, and thus their strength is increased by 10%
So now with the system the man can lift 11 kilos and the boy 2,2.
I chose this option because it causes the 'users' to not completely rely on the system.
Because even if the boy had a strength of 50 (allowing him to lift 10 kilos) and the man a strength of 1 the man could still lift more than the boy simply because his base strength is higher.
Then I added the other stats.
Defense increases your weight and reduces all incoming forces (except gravity) and is the counter to strength.
Endurance increases all the attributes where you must 'endure' like heat resistance, holding your breath and running above your limit.
Agility give you a sort of wind in your back allowing you to move easier.
Intelligence Increases your speed of processing information and allows you to retain more memories.
Then came the hard ones: Wisdom, Charisma and Luck.
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
I finally decided on this:
Wisdom looks into your possible futures and gives you an instinct what the 'right' option is when faced with a choice, the distance it looks ahead, the amount of possibilities it checks and the strength of the instinct depends on the value.
Charisma just increases other people's opinion of you.
And then Luck. Luck is always overlooked by most systems as a 'better drop chance' modifier. 'So, Let's make it overpowered, shall we?'
After thinking about the possibilities for a few minutes I came up with this.
When you face an outcome you're unhappy with Luck will kick in and go back in time to the cause of your predicament then it will change things and look in to the 'present' and it will see if the predicament is solved.
To explain it if you were forced to do Russian roulette and die. Luck will go back and change the location of the bullet in the gun making sure that you stay alive.
And just like wisdom the time it goes back and what it can change is dependent on the value.
With all the stats done I imagined an indestructible red orb to be the 'core' of the system and 'bound' all rules to it making it so that if I destroy the orb the system will also vanish.
Then I came to the fun part, Magic!
I made it so you can access your spells via skills, which you can in turn access by saying "Abilities" similarly I made the stat screen open by saying "stats".
The spells themself are gained every 5 levels out of 100 starting from 10 and are linked to your magic affinity and class. Which added even more things for me to create
Slowly getting overwhelmed by all the work I had to do I jokingly imagined there being 2 of myself.
Then I felt a link between me and 'something' and I could suddenly see from 2 viewpoints
'Wait did I just create a clone?!?' I said and heard in my mind at the same time.
'Hello?' I thought and my clone responded with: 'Hello'
'Wait a second... Can you use my powers?' I asked and soon after I saw another indestructible red orb appear and vanish soon after.
I turned towards the location of the clone to see just exactly what we were. but I saw... nothing.
Leaving the matter with my body or lack thereof behind me. I continued working on the magic system, well after cloning myself 'a few' more times.
Currently there were 2 to the power of 15 versions of me all connected via a strange connection and sharing their thoughts.
'We' worked together to finish the system and it took no more than 5 minutes with all of us working together
'We' made magic work following the previously stated principal, an energy that reacts to certain patterns.
Then 'we' made the abilities invoke the corresponding pattern when activated.
Then to test the magic system I imagined myself to have a body, look simplicity sake I imagined it to be exactly the same as my previous body.
...
Then I woke up, in my normal bed hearing my alarm ringing, and I thought that everything that just happened was just a dream.
Well that was until I felt the connections to my clones and saw their perspectives.
I was utterly confused and stood up turning off my alarm.
Then I froze time to think about what just happened.
For starters I ordered about 20.000 of my clones to check if this planet was indeed earth and after some investigations they reported that this was indeed earth for what they could see, they also gave me the location of the incoming bomber plane.
'Wait did I travel back in time or did I accidentally create a copy of earth?' I thought as there was a very easy way to test this.
"Stats" I said after unfreezing time. but nothing happened.
'Wait? the system should work everywhere right?'. 'Did I really travel back in time' I thought as it started to dawn on me what's happening.
'I did feel abnormally muddle headed that morning, but it can't be, can it?'
'Wait so let's say that this is earth and that my school will get hit by a bomb in a few hours, should I stop it?'
'If I do stop it time will get changed and I might cause a paradox which could result in me as I am now never existing.'
Then I remembered Steins; Gate and realized that to prevent a paradox I just need to fool myself.
'So, the bomb must be dropped, and people have to get charred to the point of almost dying. But nobody has to be completely dead now do they?'
'What if, after being charred alive, they all wake up in the hospital having miraculously made a recovery, well except for one.'
Then I unpossessed my body and prepared for what is coming.
