Chapter 1 : A pleasant walk through the town

“So you mean to tell me, at 17 years of age, you can’t swim?” the boy cried out, coming to a sudden halt in the middle of the bustling town road.

“I just never tried, stop cackling like a witch it’s not like there’s any water around here anyway” a crimson haired girl retorted.

“Yeah but even kids can swim” he howled in between fits of laughter making his long messy brown hair downright dishevelled.

Those on the street began to stare at the two, with many a toothy grin mixed in with looks of distaste. This served to only further embarrass the girl.

If this fool doesn’t shut up I swear I’ll set his ass ablaze

“could we change the subject now please?”

“Fine but I’m teaching you how before I leave” the boy remarked while attempting to tame his unruly locks of mud coloured hair.

“How could you even consider supporting the Celestial Supreme never mind fighting in his horrendous religious wars, have you heard what the merchant companies have said about what goes on near the border?”

“Now why would I care about that when I’m signing up for the forbidden forest campaign?” he snared with an all too familiar annoyance in his voice.

This little fuck must think he’s hot shit

“Kipper you do realise the whole reason he wants to conquer the Forbidden forest is so he can easier stage a crusade against the Central Elves right?”

“Charlotte ‘look at me I know world politics cause my strange uncles who look nothing like me are educated’ Adams how many times have I explained to you I’ll just earn some coin exterminating some monster legions and get some free training while I’m at it then be back in time for next harvest”

Idiot

They continued to bicker till they rounded a corner where Kipper in true Kipper fashion tripped over what appeared to be nothing and fell face first onto the dirt trodden path. Charlotte’s immediate laughter was stifled however when she caught sight of a large gold trimmed caravan that had now halted due to Kippers blunder.

Oh shit here we go

“WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS” A shrill voice emanating from the glistening caravan pierced the ear drums of every man woman and child in the immediate area as well as those miles away.

The caravan driver’s face turned from bitter indifference to mild joy at the prospect of the spectacle to come. The caravan door was nearly kicked off its hinges as a scrawny young man adorned in white robes trimmed in golden fabric emerged hair a mess undoubtedly due the sudden stop.

Catching a look at the pair he hurled a glob of spit on the ground almost as if their mere presence left a bad taste in his mouth. “Driver you stopped for this scum?” the Young man levelled a predatory gaze at the driver before focusing his angst at two in front of him. The driver returned to his bitter indifference.

“My sincerest apologies my lord I am but a clumsy peasant” Kipper finally raising his voice making sure to keep a high pitch in hopes of the Noble taking pity and deciding not to ruin his day.

Before the noble could reply however a tanned fist had made acquaintance with his face, unfortunately cutting all conversation short. A look of horror adorned Kipper, quickly understanding whose body that tanned fist was attached too. A blur of red hair pounced on the befallen noble.

Left right good night

Her furious fists connected to the man’s face. “WHO” thump “DO” crunch “YOU” crack “THINK” squeal “YOU’RE CALLING SCUM?”

“Charlotte you need to stop this now we’re both going to get executed for this” Kipper screeched voice cracking from panic. The pathetic whimpering of the once arrogant noble only further fed his worry.

The purity of the Noble’s clothes was tarnished. The angelic white now indistinguishable from the numerous crimson splodges dotted around a sea of dirt. She looked down at her mangled fists and let out a deep exhale. Almost as if the entire weight of her anger had left her body as quickly as it had entered it. Her face turned from blind rage to sudden horror once she had realised the toll for her actions.

Yeah… not going to lie that was a bit too far even for you

The caravan driver awaking from his shock began to make for the mace hanging in between his rolls of fat and an apparently sturdy make of leather belt.

“RUN” she cried out as the two began splitting off into different directions in an incredibly well practiced manner. Fleeing the side road into the makeshift merchant’s district while Kipper returned the way they came. Dodging between stalls of various wares Charlotte emerged from bustling square onto a narrow alley sheltered from the swarm of commerce. Leaning against the wall panting she felt a familiar feeling pierce through the pain of her bloodied hands and the weight of the actions they had carried out.

Look at you out of breath, what’s all the need? There’s no way that fat fuck would have been able to catch you

“It’s not about him catching me it’s about him remembering my face ass” She whispered in between deep gulps of air.

Come on you know better than that. He’s a noble not some peasant who looked at you funny they’re going to find you. Plus, I highly doubt there’s that many people in this boring old town with hair the colour of the Blood Sand Desert

“Fuck” her sun kissed face contorted into pure grief.

Fuck indeed, should have killed the driver dumbshit

“Can you stop trying to corrupt me for one second please” she growled before returning to a light sulk “I’m going to have to tell them aren’t I” she let out in a far quieter tone.

Noooo... really? You think?

“This will hurt” she winced in anticipation.

Those half pints do certainly pack a lot of anger in those small bodies of theirs. Still nothing compared to you I may add

“Shut it”.
