First of all, I want to say thank you to all who have read, followed, favorited, or otherwise enjoyed my recursive fan fiction.

There was an incident recently that reminded me of how difficult it is to write content that does not offend and does not infringe on the spirit of the original intellectual properties.

Thus far I have managed to toe the line in regards to requests to keep things wholesome and not create content that may interfere with future potential sequels or sidestories. However, I fear that with recent events that my originally planned content would skim the edge a bit too closely.

Thus, I have decided that Fox-Borne is now going on indefinite hiatus until such time that I have been able to revisit the plot or Fuggman opens the floodgates.

Update May 2023 - I have elected not to revisit this fiction in the future, at least in its current state. If it does get picked up again, it will be wholly re-written with original characters, location, and themes.

I want to apologize to those who looked forward to this "what-if" story and empathize with your disappointment, but I believe that this is what is best at the moment.

To take some of the edge off, here is what I had originally planned to write:

Daisy would accept Espurr as her starter, but would be joined by Matt on her journey as he is torn between thinking like a human and looking like a Pokemon. Kabu would take the siblings under his wing and show them how to survive on their own. Wild Pokemon are dangerous, and not understanding when to run and when to stand your ground could have serious ramifications on your own life. Daisy would learn from Kabu's Ninetales and realize just how different her own mother is compared to others of her kind.

Matt would nearly be caught by another Trainer which would remind him that at the end of the day he is not human and will need to come to terms that many will see him as a rarity or a tool that is to be used. He decides to find his own Trainer as being caught by his sister is a bit too weird. That being said, he would prefer to have some cute female Trainer catch him...because he's a horny teenager and a female Trainer would more likely have female Pokemon that he could woo.

Daisy would meet several Chefs and Cooks. From a little ramen wagon to the Hoenn equivalent of a Michelin-starred chef. As she learned from the passion of these cooks I would post a recipe that related to the "dish of the day" so to speak. A few ideas I had were (in no particular order): ramen, barbeque, teppanyaki (think Benihana), pizza (Benny makes his triumphant return!), a Gordon Ramsey equivalent, and a few others.

Daisy would also join the Contest circuit and be mentored by a much older May. Espurr would evolve into a Meowstic and dominate the smart and cool categories. Eventually Daisy would visit the Treasure Eatery in Medali and be inspired by its setup.

Matt would eventually be caught by a female Trainer, a mysterious one wearing an old blue jacket and a green pin with an unusual green swoosh.

The story would end in a timeskip. Daisy would end up settling in Hoenn and opening a Contest Hall and Eatery called "The Fox's Den". Matt would have declined the option to become a Ninetales himself and be released from his obligations as the mysterious female Trainer's Pokemon as he finally realizes that his happiness was found at home with his family and friends.

Additional members of Daisy's team would have been voted on by members of Discord.

At the end of the day I am just happy that my work has gotten over 3000 views, far above the numbers that I originally expected.
