In response, Gavin, witnessing the approaching danger, thrust the halberd's point into the unsuspecting goblin's neck. Seizing the opportunity created by its comrade's demise, another goblin advanced. It ran forward, hoping to pummel Eldric's head with its club raised above its head.

As the leader, he shouldn't have left his post; the responsibility for his friend's demise and suffering fell heavily onto his shoulders. Helplessness evoked a profound ache in his heart, lost in his thoughts. Unbeknownst to him, an approaching club was about to strike, hitting the side of Lyra's head and rendering her unconscious.

He took a step back, desperation and fear clenching his heart. He then looked to Gavin, standing with teeth sunk into the neck of a goblin, unmoving as other goblins took chunks of his thigh. Some climbed on him, chewing on his face and head.

Gavin died standing.

Thorn was lying on the ground unmoving, gazing at the sky with empty eyes, tears falling down from it, goblins feasting on his body. It was impossible to discern if he was dead or still alive, as his body twitched from time to time. Shocked, tears streamed down Finn's face,he screamed and cried, his fear of death palpable.

In disbelief, Finn threw away his weapon and shield. He ran to Lyra's unconscious body, instinctively embracing her and burying his face in her neck, crying, like a small child. The goblins soon closed in, gnawing on Finn's defenseless back. Despite the imminent danger, he sat there, crying and screaming, his defensive instincts overridden by the weight of his heartache.
