Finding a job after high school was something I wanted to avoid, but of course, life will slap you silly and tell you: No, you're not running this time. It is ME who HAS TO take care of myself, not should, not could, but HAVE. Me. only me. Do I have friends? For now, no, used to? Yes, most of them are in college or university, and some are drowning in drugs, but that's beside the point.
Anyways! I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Emily Allen, and I'm twenty years old; I graduated high school last year, and my parents got divorced when I was nine, for what you may ask? Because my mom didn't get an abortion, and I was an 'Obstacle' to their life. I spent all of my twenty years living with my grandma; she is the only family I have. How was my life in high school? It was...normal? Nothing? Basic shit, come and go, get good grades (barely) AAAAnd have friends (the difficult challenge) Except for Nancy, Nancy went through the same situation as me; both of her parents were trash, sadly we haven't seen each other since she went to university; she's still a cool girl though, me on the other hand, I am broke, my grandma couldn't afford money for me to go to art school. (she doesn't remember me at this point; that's why her sister took her to the countryside to live with her), so I took matters into my own hands. I started working in a bookstore as an attendant and rented a small apartment; I have been working as an attendant for six months; I will call it luck; trying to find a job in New York is nearly impossible, and we are not going to talk about how renting an apartment costs, the bookstore is still new, few customers here and there, but that changed last week, apparently, a romance novel got papular in social media so last week was a busy one, the bookstore I'm working at is called 'Rose's' Suzy is the boss, the boss who became my closest friend; she is the one who hired me. We met in a cafe, that was when she told me she owns a bookshop "It's still new. I work alone, so I gotta hire someone." That's how I got the job, but that is not the entire story.
