CHAPTER 6

SUN HIDING BEHIND THE CLOUDS. WHITE DOOR. TEN O’CLOCK.

“This is your room. Open it.” after finishing breakfast, I did what John told me. Now I’m standing in front of the white door from the same room I woke up to; I touch the heavy golden handle, unlocking it slowly. It still surprises me how white this room is; it looks like a room for a...bride. “They all the same,” John said behind me. “They’re all a lot of things you will start doing from now on.” he took a piece of paper out of his back pocket handing it to me. “Read it.”

WHAT YOU MUST AND MUST NOT DO:

_ DO NOT leave the mansion without Mr. Andrews’ approval.

_ Every meal MUST be eaten at the exact time.

_ Follow instructions from your current partner.

_ Uniform MUST be worn.

_ Training MUST not be missed.

“Training?” I questioned, still not comprehending what I read. “Yes. You’re a member of the S.O. now.” he casually said, leaning on the door frame. Wait. What. “H-Hold on, what do you mean by that?” “Ms...Allen,” John said slowly, walking five steps forward until we were face to face. “You lost your memories. You don’t remember who you are. Your family. Your friends. Yes. I know you live in Queens, but where? aren’t you scared? What if someone took advantage of your condition? What if...” He got closer, whispering next to my ear. ” You got kidnapped again?” I got goosebumps all over my body. It felt like he was threatening me, or maybe that is how he talks. “N-No.” I took a few steps back, feeling uncomfortable. He got surprised by the way I reacted. “Whoa, I didn’t mean to scare you; I just want you to understand the situation you are in.”

" I understand.” I looked down at my... bare feet? I did not realize I was barefoot this whole time. “Now. Take a nice long shower, then wear your uniform; it’s in this wardrobe-” he pointed at the massive white-colored wardrobe next to the (my) bed “-I’ll be out waiting at the front door.” “Do you-” he left. Not letting me finish my question. I took a deep breath, telling my brain to calm itself. “Okay, First.Shower.” I walked towards the door. After I opened it, I was welcomed by darkness; until I switched on the light. I almost got blind by the brightness. The marble floor was as white as a cloud, as well as the bathtub. The shower was big enough for more than one. The entire bathroom was the same size as the bedroom. It is a master bathroom, which is not surprising, knowing the Boss (whose I still do not know his name) owns more than one hotel. I took off my pajamas, then turned on the shower. I immediately got hit by hot water.

“You’re a member of the S.O. now.” John’s words kept repeating in my head. I closed my eyes, feeling lost and suffocated by confusion. What would my old self do? Fight? Accept my fate? After I finished showering, I took a long white towel that was folded next to the sink; I dried myself with it; I was about to return it to its place when I saw myself on a rounded rectangular mirror above the sink. Short silky black hair, black eyes that match my hair, high cheekbones, pale skin, slim body. I look...weak. I could not look at myself any longer. There were two drawers under the sink; I got curious to see what was in there; I was blown away by the number of toiletries that were tidied perfectly in the drawer. Shampoos, soaps, hair brushes, shaving products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and The list goes on.

I went back to my room, then opened my wardrobe. The first drawer was full of different types of bras and underwear, but they had one color: White; the second drawer included white and black turtlenecks, the third: Black and white blouses, and the final one: black trousers, T-shirts, sweaters. When I opened the double doors, I was shocked by the amount of black suit jackets and coats (short and long) that were hanging one next to another. Black high heels, boots. Everything was nicely put together. They were too beautiful to touch.

Black suits. That is their uniform. After two minutes of changing, I looked at myself in the mirror. I look...decent, in a good way.
