Abyssal core

Starting from the bottom the first you’ll come to do is reach out your hand above your head. Reaching towards the pitch black darkness hoping for a signal, a sign, a saviour. Yet no matter how much you plead, your hand won’t reach anyone.

Getting up you dust off your clothes, your eyes now glowing like a cat’s are accustomed to the dark, for now you’re a night crawler just like the rest of this sea's dwellers.

You come to realise that this place you’re in is none other than the abyss itself, if you try to climb it’s slick walls you’ll only end up slipping to eventually hit your head, with your hot crimson blood seeping out to the sides of your body. Making you, a drink, a meal, a feast for the rats around you.

So you garner some conviction, and you set your sail to the top. Hoping to catch a glimmer of light on these high seas you’re riding.

Slowly as time passed you begin to understand how this place works. For every man is his own, and partnerships are only a means for getting used and thrown away.

Yet you decide to see the good in people, grabbing onto other’s hands as you save them from being swallowed by the darkness. Reaching out your hand towards those who laid their arms for you, just like the way you once extended your arm towards this pitch black hell; waiting for a saviour.

As the captain you now have your own crew, people whom you could trust, people whom with you can reach that dazzling light escaping from this abyss.

But for that you’ll need a grandeur boat to take you out of this Oobleck sea. So you resort to means that your honour would not favour. but what choice do you have ? You’re now responsible not only for yourself but for tens of other people, who look up to you, and have the outmost biggest expectations of you.

A white lie here, a ebony interaction over there. Telling them what they like to hear, listening to them speak only to understand how they think. You grow more and more by the day, yet the white core you once held has now become grey and distorted.

You tell yourself it’s necessary, and if you don’t do it you’ll fail your sail. Yet what wrong did those poor people who believed you commit ? For now how are you any different from those rats who lay in wait at the bottom of this Oobleck sea ?

The abyss, it changes a person. From a cheerful child who aimed to get out of this pitch dark haven of lies, to a dark grey adult who does what’s necessary to keep on living for just one more day.

And yet after many years, you finally get out of this abyss. You set sail, you faced the storms, you lost some people, but you prevailed !

Now at the top of the world you stand, looking down at this pitch black Oobleck abyss, you’re smug. You know that you defeated that place, and unlike the rats down there you’re now a citizen of heaven.

But you look around you, where are those who shared you your victory ?

In your journey to get out of the abyss, you left no stone unturned, no sin uncommitted. and you, you ultimately lost all the people you once have called friends.

No, no no no no. None of that matters now ! You’ve finally reached the heaven you’ve always wished to see !!!

So you go ahead, press your foot forward, and march towards this bright light you always longed for.

People came towards your way after a while, yet, they’re not angels ?

They wore clothes just like your late friends, they talked just like the rats from down bellow.

So you’re not in heaven ?

For what have you suffered, for what have you endured, and for what have you sacrificed.

If this was not heaven, then what is this place ?

They took ONE look at you, covered their nose, and whispered to themselves.

They can’t be talking about you, right ?

You look down on your chest, and ah... You notice it finally.

Your dark grey core, has now finally morphed one last time.

You started from a bright dazzling pearl, white like snow, innocent and ambitious. Yet now look at you, your core is rotten, pitch black, void of all hope.

For them, the people who’ve never suffered what you’ve ever gone through, for them you’re the same as that abyss you’ve tried so hard to escape from.

You yell in anger, HOW COULD THEY !!!

Don’t they know how much you suffered ? How could they assume that you’re the same as that black abyss.

They start to grow more and more In numbers, and slowly they start to surround you. You begin to walk back, in fear of being captured.

Can’t they see ??? We’re not any different, just like how you’re black at your core, they’re also not white either. So how could they prosecute You so much for doing what you had to do ??

Slowly you’re pushed back towards the edge of this land, closing in on the pitch black Oobleck abyss you so hardly escaped.

You turn your back to them and you take one final look at your old friend.

They say if you stare at the abyss for long enough, it’ll end up staring back.

At that moment you realised what that meant, for the ripples of that Oobleck sea were now forming a sinister smile.

With a tear in your eyes, reminiscing those once sweet memories with your old friends. How you so cold heartedly abandoned them in the name of it being “ necessary “ but none of that matters now. For now you’re facing the same fate as them.

You’re being sacrificed to the abyss in hopes you don’t dirty the heaven above with your abyssal core.

A single tear runs down your face, right before you get pushed from behind towards your end. You’re embraced by the violent waters of this Oobleck sea, and with the matter of simple minutes you die surrounded by all your failed dreams and ambitious.

He whom ascends from the abyss, shall only descend right back when the time is right, for that is fate’s will.
