Jamal ran through the city, the change of the moon's color while important and dangerous for many reasons stopping to look up didn't help his current situation, so he did his best to ignored it and kept running.
The fact that he managed to keep up his frantic pace while mumbling his distraction invocation, was nothing short of amazing in his mind.
He had a lot of practice using that particular type of magic over the years using it but mainly to convince people not to be near a crime in progress, now he used it to keep the people of the city off the streets. Even the disenfranchised denizen had made themselves scarce.
The cost of his magic burned at him from the inside but he continued running to the wooded park near his dwelling, the fact that he was running for his life trying to direct three of his friends under their full moon curse to chase him down, possibly to someone's death, didn't scare him half as much as the realization that others with his friends cursed predilections would be out tonight hunting. Bad for them or anyone else around them.
Jamal used curses and blessings island magic, a mixture of different cultures that roamed the islands of the Caribbean, like the food slight change in the recipe made for drastically different results.
The Cord were killers all of them especially him but they were also survivers that banded together.

The park was close, his friends were as well, Jamal had a chance but he didn't take it, not yet.
It was almost funny, three against one and he was going to take a risk to try and save them from the effects of the new moon before they ripped him apart.
In either case Jamal decided he needed new friends.

"Damn it Bryan." Mary wasn't happy her brother convinced her to go out and celebrate her first big contract for the Orchard, so she knew she was drink but she didn't realize how drunk.
Rabbits dozen of them running about under the moonlight, it was quite surreal, the incandescent way the moon looked over the apple trees should have made her heart sing but for some reason she was pensive, then she saw the rabbits running through the moonlight, dashing between the trees.
"There's something strange about them bunnies, Mary. " Bryan said trying to figure out what was odd.
It wasn't until they both were out of the car that the odd feeling got worse.
The rabbits in the trees, had small deer buck style antlers adorned atop their heads a few of them had other horn like accessories attached to their faces and necks giving most of them a slightly deformed and disconcerting look.
Mary after looking at them felt like she would throw up, Bryan wasn't much better.
The siblings realize that they were both too drunk to bother with this weirdness and proceeded to go into the farm house, under the now watching gaze of the rabbits.
The jackalopes after watching the strangely bad smelling creatures enter their cave continued to play under the moonlight.
