Chapter 3: world spirit

Carl's awakening caused neither the expected uproar nor the excitement that had arisen during the incident. This strange event went unnoticed by Carl and his mother, who clung tightly to him and didn't let him escape from her embrace.

"Mom, I can hardly breathe! Can you cry without breaking my bones?" Despite the unbearable pain, Carl's harsh words couldn't hide the undertone of joy and longing in his voice.

But the queen, as if she hadn't heard him, continued to hold him and wept fervently. After a while, she took him by the shoulders and looked at him lovingly. Finally, she spoke a few words: "What happened, Carl? How did you faint?".

"That's what I wanted to ask. How did I get here? The last thing I remember is sleeping under the tree." The question marks and confusion on his face left no room for doubt.

The queen froze. She didn't know what to do, so she simply began to explain the incident, from the moment he was found to the moment he woke up, leaving out some unimportant events, such as her attempts to wake him up in a suspicious manner.

As he listened to his mother recount the events, his mouth fell open and his eyes grew cloudy. As soon as she had finished speaking, Carl spoke up: "Mother, I'm hungry. Can you ask the servants to bring something to eat?"

She held a small bell in her hand and shook it slightly so that a soft but audible sound rang out. Shortly afterwards, a plump maid appeared in the room with a tired expression on her face. She stood up respectfully and asked: "Is there anything you would like, Your Highness?

The Queen paid no attention to the maid's tiredness and spoke with authority: "Provide a simple meal for Prince Carl and have a maid look after him around the clock."

"As you wish, Your Majesty," the maid bowed respectfully and then left the room to fulfil the queen's requests.

The queen sat comfortably and chatted idly about unimportant topics, avoiding even mentioning the incident. As the conversation dragged on for over half an hour, she finally excused herself to retire to her private chambers, leaving Carl to brood in the darkness of the room.

Now that the queen was no longer there, he had the opportunity to reflect on what had happened.

He thought back to the battle with the wandering soul, to his inability to return to his body, and finally to the encounter with the orb.

After the orb had hit him in the forehead, he recognized him as its master. This shocked him and it took him about a week to process the information and gain control over the being.

He learned that the name of the orb was world spirit. It was a treasure born with the world and formed over eons. At a critical point in its development, the world it was born into was invaded. To escape this world that seemed on the brink of annihilation, it chose the strongest soul on the planet. This was the same person who was defeated by Carl.

He was no stranger to the invasion of another world. It had happened to them before, but their world was the invader. How else could they have gained such advanced technology, such as the ability to use electricity to make light bulbs, generate electrical power, build steam trains, and create complex medicines? After all, the recorded history of the world was less than two thousand years old.

Fortunately, the world spirit had a function to store all the information it came into contact with. So it stored all the information and memories of that soul. However, this function was only secondary. The actual function was to derive and simulate various data. Fortunately, it seemed to have absorbed the scattered energy of this soul and now had 20 units of energy.

His first thought was to surpass the 7-star warriors stage and gain access to a new world. Yes, his first thought was to open a new training realm for this world. But then a new idea came to him: wouldn't it be much easier to unite this continent and rule the world? This new thought dominated his mind, and the seeds of ambition took root in those moments.

But that wasn't all. He remembered that the memories of that soul were still stored, and he was filled with excitement and anticipation. Would he find a hidden treasure that would make the path to his dream easier? With a single thought, he connected to the orb and tried to extract the memories.

Then a series of different images flashed through his mind. He used a unit of energy to make the orb filter out the random and insignificant memories. The result was that all that remained of the man's memories could be summarized in just three volumes! Good heavens, had he lived such a meaningless life? Nine out of ten of his memories were nothing but junk. This filled Carl, who was bursting with ambition and wanted to live a life full of successes and memories, with a feeling of dissatisfaction and dreariness

Carl began to leaf through the memories of that soul, from the oldest to the youngest. From his school days onwards, he learned arithmetic, his mother tongue, a foreign language, history and various sciences. But none of these particularly interested him. As mentioned before, this world had invaded several other worlds, so they already had this basic knowledge. He continued leafing through the memories until he stopped at a lesson entitled "Schools of thought on political systems"

Karl Marx's idealistic ideas about communism disgusted him. His disgust and unease could be read on his face. But the ideas that followed — capitalism, socialism and even anarchism — were also unsuitable for practical application.

so why the emphasis on communist ideas laced with false idealism? It seems that this soul lived in a country that embraced communism,' it came to him, but he quickly disregard the thought.

He continued to leaf through the memoirs, and by the time he graduated from university there was nothing more worth mentioning. He finished the first volume, which was a great disappointment, apart from some insights into capitalism, that gave him a unique understanding of how society works and the impact economics has on it. Despite this world's invasion of several other worlds, the predominant feature in these worlds was a lack of development in these basic areas. There may have been a scientific advancement, but when it came to the sciences dealing with the functioning and operation of society, people seemed to ignore them.

This is understandable, because in a world where superpowers are omnipresent and normal people are in the minority, studying such topics is almost pointless.

As he opened the second volume, he was confronted with countless scenes of the soul reading various novels, both fictional and non-fictional. Some of these fictional novels provided him with unique inspirations that could be the key to opening a new path for the warriors.

All in all, it was an enrichment for his database, but it fell short of his expectations. With little hope of finding anything useful, he opened the third volume. As expected, the third volume contained only a few scenes of the invasion. The invaders were all humans who were over thirty meters tall, but he could not really tell them apart from normal humans. They even used their fists and primitive weapons to conquer this miserable world.

But a terrible thought soon crossed his mind! If they were so primitive, they posed no threat to the inhabitants of this world. Some of the advanced weapons in this world could tear down mountains and drain seas. So he watched intently to see what happened and how they managed to overcome this world with such a weak attack.

He continued to observe, image by image. To his surprise, the intruders seemed like an endless wave. They kept coming out, one after the other. They numbered in the hundreds, then in the thousands, but they kept coming and never stopped. Finally, the people of this world emerged with their strange green weapons and tried to bombard the giants. The bombardment seemed to have some effect, but it did not cause any serious injuries. Then images of metal objects called airplanes appeared in the sky, and they continued to attack the giants.

The attacks of the airplanes caused massive destruction and killed a large number of giants, but it did not last long. He heard a harsh voice and two eyes flashed in the darkness of the passage. Then a few words were spoken that made Carl's scalp tingle even through the images, "Who dares kill my slaves?"
