A boy was rapidly tapping at his keyboard.
The entire room was dark, just as it was outside. It currently being 3:00 in the morning was the cause of said darkness, but the time didn’t stop the boy.
As it was a weekday in october the boy had school tomorrow but he didn’t mind. Normally people are up at this time doing last minute homework or projects, and the speed he's typing at may also give reason for such an assumption.
However he was currently arguing with someone over the internet, normally he doesn’t get upset but this time was different. It was his last promotional game to get into diamond 1 in LoL. He’s been playing for 4 years already and has climbed from the bottom to the top 1%. He had goals to be a pro player and move to streaming but currently he was being held but by an awful teammate who’s died more than 10 times in 20 minutes.
He repeatedly told him to uninstall and that he’s a disappointment to his parents but the game finally ended with him losing the game, as well as his promotion series.
Looking at the time he finally noticed how late it was and that he has school tomorrow, it shouldn’t be that much of an issue as he gets an average of 80% across his classes. However Waking up and actually staying awake in math class would still pose an issue.
Letting out a sigh he went and brushed his teeth, then collapsing into bed and falling asleep soon afterwards.
He woke up to his alarm, had cereal and waited for the bus to come to his stop. He lives too far from the school so he needs to be picked up everyday, unless he drives himself. It eventually came and he walked to see the other students around his age, looking tired but nothing comparative to himself. He had dark circles under his eyes from the lack of sleep and his hair wasn’t done very well. He walked slowly while swaying side to side a little, letting his black hair that went to his eyebrows in a flowing hairstyle to flop around, while consistently letting out long yawns.
Nobody talked to him as he sat at the back of the bus, since he was in 12th grade he was allowed to, but every other grade 12 simply gave him the back seat so they wouldn’t have to talk to him.
Plugging in his headphones he waited for the 20 minute bus ride to end. The way to school was across a main road then down a couple side roads finally ending on his school road. The side roads were quite bumpy so he wasn’t able to sleep or even use his phone because sometimes he’d even drop it.
As he pulled into the school he saw the familiar brown, boring design of a school in which he only had one more year of until he could graduate, take a year off and try to go pro. If he couldn’t he would go to college and partake in some business related degree.
He walked off the bus through the main doors, walking down the halls filled with talking people and lockers, the place was packed but still managed to flow through it at a decent pace. Eventually ending up by his locker where one of his friends waited.
“Hey Darron! Seems you didn’t get much sleep… if any, You master tier yet?” The boy who called out was short and a little chubby around 5’6”, he had short blonde hair that he put up into an arc but was probably his closest friend. He also has a large smile across his face, not necessarily mocking but still annoying.
“Fuck off Jake, I know very well you looked up my profile to see I didn’t… No need to be an ass just because you are.” The short guy beamed up at the boy named darron, a taller guy around 6’3”, he was an average build for his size without to much muscle.
“Haha! You’ll get em next time! But I saw you got Gbay in your game, quite unlucky if I may say so, seeing as he’s easily the worst player to ever reach diamond.” Darron let out a sigh after hearing this but couldn’t say anything, seems he knew everything that happened in the game.. How do people even watch Gbay’s stream…
Darrons other friends showed up shortly after, they made small talk about north korea being retarded for picking a fight with them and the latest memes. The bell went off shortly after ad they all went their own ways, Darron went to english and spent 75 minutes trying not to fall asleep.
It was his least favourite class and the teacher droned on and on about irrelevant information he might as well forget tomorrow. It passed ever so slowly but he did have a spare next class so at least he could nap then.
The class finally ended after he counted the last 3 minutes down and he rushed through the halls at an accelerated walk. He sent a message to his buddies saying to meet him by their table outside.
He ended up outside of the school in no longer than 2 minutes and was walking to a corner of the school where people rarely went, meaning a great spot for him to nap. He laid down on the table and fell asleep easily after setting an alarm for an hour.
Sleep quickly surrounded him again, only to wake at the sound of the alarm.
He looked around to see nobody and sat up, after searching through a couple of memes and posting them to his group chat he waited for the lunch bell. His friends said they would be late since some of them were buying food, but since Darron was already at the meeting spot he decided to just wait.
The bell was going to ring in 5 minutes and he laid down again to rest his eyes, the second he closed them a bright light hit him and he wasn’t able to rest.
He knew the sun wasn’t shining on him so he looked around for the source but it continued to get brighter to the point he was unable to see anything but yellow. The light hurt his eyes so he had to close them but it quickly started to fade.
He was about to start swearing at whoever shined such a bright light at him but an extremely loud voice started talking.
“Hello all, My name is Harlom, I’m one of the many people you refer to as God.” His voice sounded like he was directly beside Darron but after looking around he found noone.
“You have all thought of us as dormant, fake and the like but in reality we simply haven’t cared enough to bother with you. Well until now at least.” The voice took a slight pause before continuing.
“As of recent you have created games in which you enter new worlds and complete quests to save it, these games have greatly interested us and wanted to play some ourselves, but we are unable to. We were fine simply enjoying watching you play but the games have all become… boring so to say, it’s the same quests all the time, you all do the exact same thing time and time again and somehow don’t get bored. So we made our own, luckily for you we have let you all play! For Free! The only difference from games is that you won’t have a choice, you are the characters, there will be no customization at the start, no class selection. You must earn it. This isn’t a game for new players but people who can adapt quickly and efficiently.” The voice took a good 3 second pause before continuing yet again.
“Now some of you may be wondering, well how do we play? Not to worry in exactly 3 minutes 38 seconds it will start, but before that I must explain certain settings and rules. First all guns will be prohibited in this new game. Meaning anybody who uses them will receive… punishments, these may include death. Second, every level you will gain new stats to allocate to yourself. Third, you can look at anything you possess by saying Inventory, or Status.”
“Honestly I didn’t have to tell you any of this but we decided that we’d have more players if we did this, and so that’s all the information you’ll receive. Good luck and have fun! There will be a timer for you to see when this game will launch.”
The light became extremely bright again and then faded after it became unbearable to look at. When it disappeared there was a floating hexagonal panel that you would see in games, it held a time ticking down and currently read 00:01:23.
Darron thought it over but couldn’t make any sense of it so he went into his group chat, so he decided that it probably didn’t happen and he’s just being pranked. He couldn’t figure out who was pranking him so he just waited out the timer.
Once it reached the last 3 seconds it slowly became darker and darker until nothing was visible but darkness. It seemed to absorb all light that was normally there and as Darron stood up he couldn’t find his way as he was unable to feel the ground under his feet. He wasn’t falling but he panicked and started flailing around.
Shortly after the darkness seemed to envelope him it started to disappear, it became normal yet again and he looked around to see any difference, in which there was none. Darren quickly remembered the voice and how it mentioned status and inventory. Calling out for his status a blue game like display appeared.

Using his gaming knowledge he recognized his skills were a little to average besides reaction, this was his only decent stat which pushed him towards being a melee dps. In which he hated the role in games and refused to play it, his tank stats were too low to be one and the only thing left is mage or healer… and he refused to be a healer.
After concluding his thoughts he decided to go find his friends, he walked to the closest entrance which was a far corner of the building which lead into a hallway, it had a few classrooms but was generally not used as it was older. He opened the first set of doors and was able to see through the second set causing him to stop.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Inside was blood everywhere, bodies littered the floor and there was small green things moving around. He saw a body being eaten not too far away and threw up, he looked back again but held down his urge to throw up, again. He tried to make sense of the scenario by remembering everything that happened.
He went to school, went to his classes, took a nap, woke up to see the bright light, god or whatever said he made a game, darkness surrounded as the light had, then the ghoul appeared.
He thought about it for a while before finally concluding this was the game, it was a classic mmo where we’re the characters and we can die. What happens after death isn’t confirmed but he was about to test it out. He was about to start planning what to do but the door next to him opened and a small green person walked in.
It had raggs covering it’s body, was around 3ft tall and was skinny. In its right hand it was carrying a small dagger, it looked at Darron who also looked at it, they stared for a couple of seconds before the goblin let out a shriek raising it’s dagger into the air.
Seeing this Darron moved out of the way, but a little too slowly as the dagger cut his left leg. Feeling the pain from his leg he fell down, unable to stand he began crawling away with his one good leg and arms, he did his best to use his other leg but it was essentially useless.
The goblin saw him crawling and let out a laugh, it slowly walked after darron until he reached the door. Realizing this was as far as he could crawl he looked back at the goblin. He was smiling and laughing while pointing it’s dagger towards him.
It was laughing hysterically now, and stepped on something losing it’s balance. He fell forward losing his grip on the dagger which slid towards darron.
Looking at the goblin he grabbed the dagger and held it close to him, the goblin looked around for his dagger but when he finally looked up towards the human he was about to kill all he saw was a flash and the pain coming from it’s right eye.
The dagger was inside it’s eye and the pulled out again by Darron who proceeded to stab it in the neck this time. After 2 more slashed to the neck it finally stopped moving, in which a ding noise sounded in a high pitch.
Congratulations Darron Blake!
You have just reached level 2!

He read through all of them while making sure to sit behind the door so he wasn’t seen by the windows above and that they wouldn’t open without him knowing. All the classes posed problems for him either because his stats didn’t align, he had no way to get a weapon for the class or he simply didn’t like the idea.
After mulling it over he finally narrowed it down to either mage or warlock. As they are both magic users and the only real difference was the difficulty it meant that mage would be easier to use and get used to but warlock would end up being better later on, at least that’s what Darron believed from his game experience.
With that he chose warlock, well mostly, he also played a warlock in WoW…

Say “Class Information” to view!
He looked over his abilities which were average, other than the mana charge which seems pretty good. Regardless he didn’t expect more information on his class other than the basics.
“Class Information”
Class: Warlock
A class which focuses around changing yourself and mana to adapt to a specific attribute. Unlike mages who are able to use the 4 elements based on luck you’re able to fully decide what you want to change into. These paths will range in difficulty from D-A, S, SS, X and XX. Every path is different and your skills will be learned or created based on said path.
To choose a path and mold your mana you need to gain levels, specific levels have been set to give an opportunity for change, you are able to try as many times until you succeed or decide to try a different path, however once a path has been molded to you are unable to use any other magics unless
The information provided was extremely vague and mentioned other information outside of the class, even though related. The information regarding mages wasn’t extremely useful however the ability keys is an unknown.
As Darron was about to start making guesses a bang on the door behind him shook him out of his thoughts. After swiping at the windows with his hand they went away and he slowly looked out the window in which he saw another goblin staring up at him.
He immediately fell down to hide but it was already too late, the goblin saw him and the banging became more intense. Realizing it would only create draw more towards him he moved away from the door so it could get in.
He held the dagger in his left hand while he called out the new ability
Once it started to run Darron released the mana bolt and a blue rod with a slight glow flew towards the goblin. It struck it in the chest knocking the goblin back around a foot, it created a circle of damage far wider than the rod and some smoke was rising off the wound.
As the goblin landed it started to wail in pain as it clutched at it’s chest. Darron began charging another mana bolt he then aimed towards his head and fired.
*Ding*
Congratulations!
You have slain level 2 Goblin.
Loot: Goblin dagger
After Darron read the new message he smiled slightly as they had a loot system. He doubted it earlier as nothing popped up, probably due to him stealing the dagger mid fight. Regardless it meant he could receive items.
As he was about to start planning around this new find a loud shriek came from down the hallway, however this time, it was a human’s voice.
