Chapter 601 How to Explain What Happened Just Now

CHAPTER 601 HOW TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED JUST NOW

Huston’s assistant, Benjamin Miller, personally drove Evelyn back to her apartment. On the way back, the atmosphere in the car was a little depressing. Looking at the rapidly receding street scenery outside the window, Evelyn was still in a state of confrontation with Huston and could not come back to her senses.

Seeming to have noticed her uneasiness, Benjamin glanced at the rear-view mirror and asked softly, “Miss Shelton, do you want to play music?” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Evelyn came back to her senses and nodded stiffly a few seconds later. “Okay.”

After five years, she was very nervous when she saw Huston again, and she was even a little wary of his assistant. Who knew if he would go back and report her situation to Huston?

Just as she was letting her imagination run wild, Benjamin spoke again in a gentlemanly manner, “Actually, you don’t have to be afraid. Perhaps in the eyes of outsiders, President Lloyd is very strong and indifferent, but he is not like this to you.”

Hearing his words, Evelyn asked him subconsciously, “Then how do you explain what happened just now?”

He would not hurt her, but he took advantage of her regardless of her situation.

Benjamin was silent for a few seconds as if he was thinking about how to answer. However, he had received good education. since he was a child, so he also felt that what happened tonight was unfair to Evelyn, but…

“I know that such a thing will make it difficult for you to accept for a while, but President Lloyd is not trying to hurt you. He’s just too excited to see Miss Shelton and lost his mind.” He had been by Huston’s side for three years, so he knew his boss’ temper and character well.

Huston had never been greedy for women, nor had he ever crossed the line. Although he did not cater to women, he had absolute respect for them. He would not hurt Evelyn for the sake of a moment of pleasure.

Of course, Evelyn understood this, but she didn’t want to admit it, because only in this way could she have a reason to hate that

man.

Thinking of this, her expression was a little bad, and her tone was a little excited. “You are his subordinate, so you naturally speak up for him.”

Benjamin opened his mouth but closed it in the end. He wanted to defend his boss against the injustice. However, his reason told him that there was no point in saying anything more.

So after apologizing in a low voice, he kept silent.

The car drove to the door of the apartment but was stopped by the security guards. Evelyn didn’t let him in and got out of the car at the door.

She walked in with the night wind. It was getting late, and there were not many households with lights on. Evelyn looked around and saw the floor where she lived.

The light was on. It was probably a wall lamp, so it was not very bright.

She didn’t have time to think too much. Knowing that the man was already waiting for her, she quickly walked into the elevator and pressed the button to go straight up.

With a “ding-dong”, the elevator door opened. Evelyn looked at the floor comfortably and raised her gaze. Just as she was about to walk out, she suddenly saw a man smoking not far away.

She was slightly stunned and did not expect to meet him in the corridor. She walked over slowly and called out with some uncertainty, “Bert, why are you here?”

“I’m waiting for you.” He took a drag on the cigarette. Ignoring the rest of the cigarette, he threw it into the trash can. His sharp eyes

fell on her. He examined her from head to toe over and over

again.

Evelyn couldn’t stand such scrutiny and felt an indescribable sense of guilt. She didn’t intend to tell him about her encounter with Huston. She had owed him enough for so many years, and

she didn’t want him to get involved again because of her.

Based on Evelyn’s understanding of him, if he found out, things would not be as simple as they were now.
