From the inner dwelling of the house, a pair of parents and their son was watching an unbelievable scene. Right in front of them was someone they knew which they have never seen that part of him. “is that really our son” spoke the woman who looks like in her early 50s.
“bro is really awesome…” exclaim the younger son, Black as he watch the scene where his older brother pummel down those ugly creatures down to the ground until it limp lifeless. Both the parents were trembling as if they can’t believe their son was this ruthless. Even the father was stump in silent as he doesn’t have any words to describe what he was seeing.
At first they are worried about Red going out there alone doing such a risky act but those thought slowly drifted away as this scene clearly made them forget. This eldest son of theirs was not a little amateur child that they think he was. They know so little about him that they don’t know where to begin. The son who they thought who was always has an expressionless face spot a furious look on his face.
They could only watch from the inner side as they were separated by a transparent sliding door which was only 2 inch thick. Nonetheless, they witness it all. Red who was defending the fort swings his hammer down like the marvel hero Thor bashing those numbskulls down to the ground. Well comparing him to the mighty asgardian was a bit far-fetched but at least he had that small tint of resemblance with him.
Even so, at times one or two goblins manage to jump on to the balcony. Making it somewhat difficult for Red to handle. But Red didn’t give up as he tirelessly pushes his effort in decimating those goblins. At one time, two of those goblins manage to come up and he had big problem contending them. Knowing he would have trouble if he didn’t manage it fast.
Red dash forward and kick it as soon as it arrived on the balcony. He didn’t give time to the goblin to retaliate as he use the opposite side of the nail-hammer that he hold using its sharp side and swing right to its face. Fortunately his aim hit its eyes and a gush eyeball fluid burst in the air. He forces it deeper and blood seeping out, the goblin try to struggle but it was futile as Red chug the hammer upwards bringing the sharp end to its brain.
He didn’t know whether it will work or not, but since the goblin is not moving he was sure of it. It all happen in mere seconds or so but the other goblin already slam it’s blunt weapon to the back of the defenseless Red. “argh! Fuck you!” Red cursed out loud as he turn to his back and intending to fight it off but sadly the hammer was stuck on to the skull of that lifeless goblin.
He’s attempt was cut short as the goblin pummel him again with the blunt weapon as it hit his shoulder. “argh!” he yell out in pain again as the attack just now must have at least crack his shoulder a bit. Red didn’t just stood there and receive the brunt of the attacks as he dash out while grabbing the dead goblin’s blunt weapon which he defeated from before.
The grip was rather hurting since it wasn’t meant to be grip but he didn’t have a choice. He slam the blunt weapon to the flank of the goblin making it stun a bit as he dash forward and tackle it slamming it to the glass window. He continues on and swings the blunt weapon to its head sending it in a daze. Red didn’t stop as he was precisely aiming for its head.
But then, his shoulder gives out due to the pain and his attack was halted. The goblin although dazed for awhile, regains balance and retaliates. Red with his reflex block the incoming attack with his right forearm as the force of it was enough to crack his bone. ‘fuck!’ he kick down the goblin and with his aching right arm, he smash its head once before he deliberately rush forward and bite off a chunk of meat from the neck of the goblin.
Blood gushes out like a geyser as it splash on to his face. The goblin stumble as it desperately try to cover its bite wound and a frighten look covered on its face. It was the first time it felt fear against this human. Since the one he fought all were easy like a farm animal ready to be slaughter.
With heavy amount of blood loss the goblin soon faint and drop to the ground. He spit off that rotten chunk of meat on to the floor as he change his hand of the blunt weapon. His right forearm was badly hurt and he couldn’t move it around without eliciting a terrible amount of pain. Although his left forearm was still hurting but compare to his right it was still usable.
‘Damn it’ the situation turn out to be a lot worse. The pain he accumulated beginning to wear him down. Still the amount of goblin trying to climb up didn’t stop. He defended the balcony like his life was on the line.
He was tired, his breath was ragged, his stamina almost depleted, his eyelid becoming heavier. His arrogant demeanor from before wasn’t there any longer. He thought since he was healing quite fast, he could fight longer while regenerating but that assumption of his was full of fault. He didn’t know the exact rate of it thus with increased of injuries that begin to stack upon each other he didn’t put it into his calculation.
But regretting now was pointless since he still need to fight them off. The night darkness along with the invisible numbers of goblin out there made him to shiver in fear a bit. Since he know if he falls here. The next to come would be his family.
One by one he throw off those pesky goblins back to the ground. His movement was becoming sluggish as his mind was starting to felt the fatigue. But then out of coincidence he remembers the small red vial he procures.
He takes it out from his pocket and drank the whole vial with one big gulp.
---
I can feel it, I can feel an energy spreading through my whole body. I stare at my forearm which was in pain but currently I can easily clench into a fist and move it around with ease. Even my left forearm didn’t hurt any longer as well as my whole body. Although I can see still the bruise mark, the pain was lessen to a degree.

This red liquid that I drank was no doubt a healing potion. If not how can I my whole body felt anew in just one drink of it. A treasure among treasure. I felt frustrated that I need to use it after knowing such remarkable effect but I’m not allowed to complain. With the vial, I manage to reclaim my vigor as I know I would go down easily without it.
The night went on as I defend the balcony against these creatures. Soon dawn came and the goblins beginning to disappear as they ran into the nearby houses. But as the morning light breaches the sky, I saw a lone goblin stare at me as I look back.
‘That goblin’. If I’m not mistaken that goblin was certainly the one that kill the unfortunate old man. After a stare off between the both of us, the goblin left and ran toward one of the houses by the sides. Knowing that the fight has ended, I walk back into the house. To my surprised my parent was still up with eyes bag a sufficient evidence of them staying awake.
“mom, dad” I pass by them and went to the bathroom. They didn’t speak anything as they only look at me with pitiful looking eyes. It seems they wanted to say something but could not say it out loud. I remove my clothes as I went into the bathroom; I take a quick shower washing off the dry blood and getting rid off the stench.
Although halfway through I revitalized from the aid of the red potion. Past that moment, I fought and my injuries were not light but at least I managed to survive. I lost count but at least the number of goblins I struck down probably more than ten or so. A lot compare to last night.
I look at the mirror and astonishingly I reach level 5. It seems the number that I kill probably a lot since I jump from two to five in just a night. With three points to spare, I distribute it equally among str, vit and sta.
< Lv. 5 StR 5 vIT 5 AGI 4 sta 3 DeX 2>
I walk out of the bathroom and quickly fall asleep. The fatigue has taken ahold of my body as my conscious quickly drift into the dream world not bother by my parents who were nervous around me.

2nd January 2017 (night)
Soon I awaken to the bunch of noise surrounding me.
“oh god please help us!” it was no doubt my mother’s voice.
“hold the door! Hold the door!” my dad’s voice and why he’s so apprehensive.
“dad, I’m bleeding ugh…” Black?
“no! Uth!!” her words carried a sense of despair as she cried soon afterwards.
I quickly woke up from my comforter and saw my father struggling to hold down the door with the outside already dark, while my mother weeps upon the side of my brother whose body was drench in blood. I was in shocked!
What happen? How many hours did I fall asleep? Why didn’t they wake me up?
Many thoughts ran through my mind but seeing my brother who already close his eyes. a bad premonition came to befall on me.
“no! no! no!” I shouted with anger seeing this scene. a scene where I didn’t want it to happen. A scene I try my utmost to avoid having but my rotten luck get the best of me.
“argh!” the sound of dad anguish cry. His shoulder started to bleed after I saw what the cause of it is. Goblins!
“son you are awake!” my father spoke with his voice receding down in tone. I had no time for pointless chatter as I stand up and ran to study table. I rummage around the drawers and saw what I needed. Grabbing it, I ran back to the balcony door and quickly inspect my brother.
‘good!’ he still has his pulse although its slowing down at least he’s still alive. I cut out his t-shirt using the scissor that I found from the drawer and saw the bloody hole in his abdomen. The hole was deep, and blood can’t stop gushing out. I hold both of my mother’s hand put it on top of the wound.
“mom! Press it harder! Press it harder! Don’t let go, understand!” I raise my voice intending to snap my mother out of her wailing of sadness. Her word stutters as she spoke. “Red, Uth is dead, he’s dead.” I can’t believe my mother having a breakdown right now. With no other choice and a heavy heart I slap the face of my mother in hope of waking her up.
Slap!
“Red?” she hold left cheek which I slap as she stare at me with a confused look. “mom! Please put on pressure on the wound and don’t let go!” I try to give a reason to her but she was still believing that Uth was dead. “But he…”
“MOM! I will save him! I will save Uth!”A reassurance. That was the only thing I need to light up the hope in her eyes. After hearing my words, she quickly gain my trust as she press down the wound that was flooded with blood.
I walk to dad and said “dad, help mom. I will handle it” my father could only slowly look at me as he let out a small smile. He spoke to me in simple words. “go get them son”
Dad return to mother’s side as he slowly drags his body there. As the sliding door without anything to hold start creaking ready to topple down. I grip tight on to the scissors in my hand as I slide down the door push the group of goblins in front of the door with all my strength. I spoke out in a silent mutter.
“I will give them hell”
Three to four goblins who flocks the front of the door was push down by me as I quickly pierce one of them to their eyes using the pointed sharp scissors. I dig deep not until I was convince it was dead. I force myself to dislodge the scissors as I push the dead goblin into the group of goblins that was grouping up at the balcony.
My other hand quickly closes the door behind me, as I guard the door and punch the daylight out of one of them. The goblins were huddling around together like a can of sardine. Thanks to that I was only going up against four of them at one time.
Time is of the essence; I grab one of their head and quickly stab its eyes multiple times before releasing my grip. The goblin falls down easily. If it’s not dead at least it was badly injured.
“argh!” pain coursing through my body as blunt weapon hit my shoulder. These goblins were relentless in their attacks as they even try to hit from afar. But the one which hit me was the one in front of me. I retaliate and stab its abdomen push upwards lacerating its whole abdomen. Blood gushes out like a stream as the goblin was in a dazed before the other goblins get the best of it and trample it down.
Even to its own kin, it shows no empathy. I didn’t bother as every time I manage to strike one down another would take the chance to bash me. I endure the pain as I know I can’t move from here. I can only stand and guard and take the brunt of the attacks while finishing them off one by one.
I pierce their eyes, I stab their guts, I puncture their throats. I did my very best targeting those vital points hoping to end them in one stroke. One by one they drop like falling autumn leaves, not only I’m at disadvantage in this position even them are also at disadvantage despite the massive numbers they have.
They can’t move willingly within the cramp space and thus they can’t avoid my killing blow. Still I also need to pay the price, my body quickly turns into tatter as bruises beginning to reopen and blood start seeping out mixing with the pool of goblins blood underneath my feet. I can feel some of my bones broken already but I didn’t give a damn about it in my current situation.
I move even with pain, even with blood, and even with fatigue building up. I didn’t stop even for a second as I ruthlessly stab these defile creatures into the abyss of death. I stab and stab them all with blood pouring like the rain splashing on to my face as if it was red paint coloring a blank canvas.
It was like a baptism of blood but then, a loose blunt weapon smack to the side of my head. I let my guard down, it was a first for me to receive an attack to the head. Like time stop, I was in a dazed like my brain rattle within my skull. I thought my conscious fading but then my sight caught a scene of one of those goblins trying to enter the sliding door.
‘Damn those goblins’ the thought of my parent being killed by them resurface to my mind. As my vision beginning to fade, I grit my teeth and stab the scissors right down to my thigh. Then a new sense of pain surge like a bolt of lightning traversing through my nervous system waking me up from that close call fainting.
I rush like a speeding cheetah with my prey right in front of me. I took out the scissors that was embedded in my thigh and strike it down to the defenseless goblin. The scissors pierce the throat from one end to another. I dislodged and quickly attack the other goblins like a raging tide. The numbers beginning to dwindle and the corpses of goblins beginning to pile up.
After a while only 3 to 4 were left standing at the balcony. They didn’t dare jumping into the fight as the sight of me surrounded by their kin corpses was enough to instill fear onto them. I was catching my breath as I stare with cold eyes to these goblins. The 1 point in stamina proof to be quite helpful since my fatigue wasn’t too overwhelming like last time. But still my whole body was aching to the core, I was barely able to stand up in this instant. Both my eyes were barely open.
But then, a goblin climbs up into the balcony rather easily. Leaping up while swinging down its blunt weapon cracking the tile floor of the balcony.
My eyes turns wide seeing the goblin, because it was none other than…
“you!”
