Third Life: Shauna

I drag my leg that has been shot in the thigh as I try to get away. The men in black suits points their black steel guns at me. I hear the bullet before I feel it. It runs into my back and I scream out of pain. I collapse on the ground and the cement scrapes my chin. The men run up to me and seizes me by the arms. The flip me over and I groan from the pain.

“We have captured Shauna,” they announce in unison, while clearing away for their boss to come through. I grit my teeth at the sight of that disgusting human being. His green eyes stare me down and he grabs my chin, hard.

“Well look who we have here,” he says. I shake his hand off my chin and one of his men slaps me across the face. “Resisting even now Shauna?” He wraps his fingers around my neck.

“Who wouldn’t resist a disgusting human being like you?” I hiss. He smirks as he runs his other hand through my red hair.

“Don’t push the button Shauna, or I might just kill you.”

“I’m not far from death anyways.”

“I don’t want you dead though. A beautiful red haired and green eyed girl will sell high at the slave market.” He tightens his grip around my neck.

“I would rather die than help you in your profit.”  I spit on his face. He looks away disgusted as he wipes the spit off. I glare at him as he smile, before punching me in the gut. All the air leaves my lung as I am coughing.

“Well, why don’t I just keep you to myself then Shauna. A twenty-five year old girl who has not yet been deflowered.” He licks his lips. “Everything will go as I want it to. You know how much I’ve always wanted you. If it wasn’t for your father you would’ve been mine a long time ago.”

“Don’t speak about my father you traitor!” I struggle to break free but I can barely move under their grasp. He leans in, closer to me.

“I always get what I want.” he whispers and I feel his horrible breath on my face. I chuckle and look up at him.

“Not this time, never with me.” I hiss. I turn and bash the side of my head on the ground before they could stop me. I hear his horrible screeching as I feel the puddle of blood beneath my head. I close my eyes slowly and the darkness embraces me.

I wake up to a voice yelling. My vision is blurry as I try to sit up. There is a man across from me in shackles and chains. He’s covered in blood and he looked like he hasn’t groom in years. There seems to be only two chains connecting the shackles together this time. Wait, this time? I have never been here before, how could I possibly know about this?

“You’re finally up,” he says. He looks sincerely worried, but I know that look may be a lie.

“Who are you? Did that man send me here so you can torture me also?” I yell out of anger, rage, and confusion.

“It’s okay, you’re fine,” the man gives me a smile. It doesn’t seem weak like the other smiles that he has given me. What other times? I wrestle with my hair as I try to remember where I has seen this man before, but I just can’t remember. I shake my body out of frustration. He lets out a laugh and I suddenly feel happiness wash throughout me.

I am in glee and tears form in my eyes. His laugh sounds like beautiful music to my ears. I suddenly feel sadness also. How can I be so happy and sad at the same time? The man stops laughing and looks at me with a worried expression. I wipe away my tears and clear my throat.

“You’ve finally laughed,” I say. What does that even mean? Did he not laugh anymore? He gives me another smile and suddenly I don’t even care anymore. I don’t care why I don’t know who this man is. I just know that I love him very, very much. I smile as I walk towards him, but I don’t even get near him as two white figures appear out of thin air.

“No, not again!” I yell. The grab my arms and drag me backwards. I don’t know why but it feels like I have been in this situation before. I can’t remember. “No! Let me go! I want to be with him!” I kick and struggle. They don’t even budge as if my kicks don’t even hurt. Tears drip down my face.

“Don’t worry. We will meet again,” he says before giving me a painful smile. I hear the door click behind me and I can only nod at him. One of his shackles disappear again and I feel like I almost know why it does, yet I can’t seem to recall what. I can only believe his words as I fall down into the depths of nothing.
