"How should I call you?" Mizu asked nervously.
Kira cleared her throat " My name is Kira" she said regaining her composure.
Only now did Kira pay attention to her surroundings and what she saw left her speechless. Her emerald eyes went wide at the sight of the nine enormous mountains that covered the land in front of her. She couldn't even see the peaks as they were obscured by clouds.
A big river wrapped itself around the mountains like a snake.
Next to her were thousands of other teenagers they were located on a hill not far from the mountains.
Kira turned to Mizu again and asked, "Do you know where we are?"
Mizu who had followed her gaze locked eyes again. Kira had to muster all her willpower not to get lost in those icy blue eyes of the girl in front of her.
"Mhm, we are in the Cherry Spring Sect." Nodded Mizu with a smile, obviously proud of the fact that she had more information than Kira.
"Here!" Said the cute girl with an outstretched hand.
Kira took the hand and while she got up she couldn't help but marvel at the softness of Mizu's hand.
"Thank you" Kira said holding her hand slightly longer than needed.
Mizu started to blush a little again. She opened her mouth but before she could say anything. An authoritative and entitled voice sounded, "Mizu how often do I have to tell you not to touch everything you find on the ground? Especially if they are peasants beneath us."
"Don't be mean Hari!" Mizu said visibly uncomfortable with the elegant-looking girl that appeared next to her. She seemed to be a year older than Mizu and Kira. She carried herself with pride and elegance befitting of a Queen.
Kira just stared at the pompous girl with well-hidden anger. It wasn't the first time she was reduced to her lowly social status.
Mizu shot Kira an apologetic look. Which defused her anger greatly.
"I am Kira and you are?" Kira asked with a false smile.
A look of disgust was briefly seen on the arrogant girl's face. "Hari" shot back not even looking at her.
The flames of anger once again nicked at Kira's heart.
"Come Mizu I heard it is about to start soon," Hari said in a surprisingly gentle tone.
Hari took Mizus's hand and dragged her away into the crowd.
"Bye-bye, Maybe we can meet later again," Mizu managed to say before she disappeared together with Hari in the crowd.
Kira stood there awkwardly with one hand still waving goodbye to the long-gone Mizu.
"Attention please" a raspy voice from above called.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Thousands of heads shot up to look at an old man standing midair looking down on them. His black, with gold adorned, robe fluttered in the wind just like his long white beard.
"Welcome to the Cherry Spring Sect. You are all now outer disciples of our Sect." With those words, he waved his sleeve and countless little bags flew into the hands of everyone present.
Kira caught her bag but immediately returned her attention to the old man in the air.
"In these bags, you will find the following: 3 outer sect robes, a map of the sect, your sect identification token, 5 spirit stones and an introduction book. Furthermore, I want u all to know, but especially those of you from lower status. Here the only thing that matters is strength. If noble or an orphan, it doesn't matter, here everyone is the same, at the same starting point, it is completely up to you what path u forge for yourself. My only recommendation is that all of you seize this opportunity and aim for greatness."
The crowd looked in awe up to the man. Some nobles do not agree with the statement that they are the same as the peasants.
But Kira felt like the old man had solely spoken to her. She had always dreamed of something bigger.
Everyone knew the tales of Immortals and how they could defy the Heavens, destroy mountains, drain seas and take thousands of lives with one wave of their hand.
In her heart she vowed to herself, that she would seize this opportunity no matter how hard it would be, no matter what she would have to do, she would be damaged if she wasted a chance like this.
With determination in her heart, she grabbed the little bag harder and pulled it closer as if her life depended on this bag.
"Make sure not to lose your Sect Tokens! Those identify you as members of the Sect, they record your contribution points and are used as an entry for various sect buildings like the library. Which is also the first stop I would recommend. So you can choose a cultivation technique to start the journey towards immortality." The old man continued.
Kira's heart started to beat faster. She couldn't wait to shed these rags and immerse herself in cultivation.
She never wanted anyone to look down at her ever again.
"The map will show you where to find the Library and any other important places. It will also lead you to your accommodation." With these final words, the old man vanished.
She opened her little bag, not even wondering how so many things were supposed to fit in such a small pouch, and pulled out her Map and started to head in the direction of the foot of the nearest mountain.
