Chapter 12: Cold Tension In The Air

Sam’s senses slowly returned as the overwhelming sensation of the Creator Dream World dissolved. He found himself lying on a grassy knoll under a sky painted with the colours of dawn. The air was crisp and carried a faint aroma of pine and earth. His body felt rejuvenated, every muscle and sinew brimming with newfound energy.

As he stood and surveyed his surroundings, Sam took a deep breath, savoring the fresh, invigorating air. His previous environment—darkness and the ethereal glow of the Creator Dream World—seemed like a distant memory. Now, he was back in the world he knew. How long was I out for, Shouldn't I bee inside the house and not outside?

He glanced at his hands and flexed his fingers, feeling the strength and precision that came with his second rebirth. Sam closed his eyes and concentrated on his new skills, remembering the knowledge and power he had gained.

The notification from the system about his increased level cap and stats lingered in his mind. He mentally reviewed his attributes:

Attributes:

* Strength: 32

* Agility: 27

* Sense: 21

* Reaction Speed: 30

* Reaction Time: 31

* Intellect: 22

* Perception: 25

* Stamina: 20

He also recalled the new skill he had unlocked: Monarch's Revival, a skill of Monarch rank. The power it granted him was immense, and he was determined to use it wisely.

With this new OP skill I can pretty much revive myself the second I die, it would be cool to set your spawn point at a certain location in time like that one guy in that anime show. Why do I have a feeling that someone is watching me, It's giving me errie vibe.

Meanwhile, in a Distant Forest Clearing

A secluded part of the forest was alive with the sound of crackling fire and murmurs of ancient magic. A figure cloaked in dark robes, with eyes that seemed to pierce through the very soul, watched intently. The figure was known in whispers as an enigmatic sorcerer who dabbled in forbidden arts and harboured a deep interest in the forces of rebirth and transformation.

“Interesting,” the sorcerer murmured, observing a faint, magical residue left behind by Sam’s recent revival. “It appears the ancient legend of revival is true. This could be an opportunity… or a threat.”

The sorcerer’s gaze turned to a worn, leather-bound tome that lay open on a stone altar. The pages flickered with a mystical light, revealing cryptic symbols and ancient prophecies. “The Monarch’s Revival… Such power is rare and dangerous. We must keep a close eye on this one.”

Back to Sam

I guess I should go inside the house now, it's getting a bit cold out here. If what goddess said was true, I can reach God rank one day, even so do I want to? Theirs to much information circulating around my head! I'll take it easy with the fire magic training from now. After all I'm still a 5 year old kid.

"I'm back, why did you leave me outside, do you know how cold it is" He said in a complaining tone. He saw the faces of his mum dad and isonorai in tears after seeing Sam walking through the door.

It was as if time stopped for a second and continued again. They all ran towards Sam and gave him a massive hug while balling their eyes out.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again, I thought I'd lost you.' Claire Said While Crying." Son take it easy for the next few day's" Caross Said While Crying. Sam didn't know what to do in the moment, he noticed Isonorai's trembling figure.

Does she thinks it's her fault? If anyone was to blame it would be me right, I mean I was stupid enough to to apply the crystal knowing the risks. "I'm sorry Sam" Isonorai Was Trembling In Fear.

"Come closer" He said. She complied with what he said and moved closer. He started patting her head as if it were a soft animal. ---Don't beat yourself up over it ok" " I know you were trying your hardest to stop me from taking my training lesson, you knew about the risks and tried to prevent it from happening by stalling it. " He said peacefully.

It was like she felt the warmth of his every word. She started to cry even more. " It's still my fault that you had die" She said in a accepting tone. He rubbed the tears from her angelic eyes. " I'm fine I promise you" He said.

"I'm going to take a few days off to recover my strength, the after that we'll continue training and I'll take it easy until I know I possess the strength to handle the fire. Making isonorai's face lighten up little. After awhile of sobbing and hugging they asked me about how I was still alive. I decided it would be better if they didn't know about monarch revival skill.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

After a few days of resting, training continued as normal but this time I took it one step at a time. If I die again and come back again, they might think I'm some weird cursed child with imortality and that.

I'm noticing something with the weather recently. It's getting colder and colder as each day goes on. It's affecting my training and my body. I don't handle the cold quite well, I wish their was a way to fix this probl------

You have unlocked cold resistant!

Do you accept? Y/N

Yes

Cold weather won't be as bad it looks.

Cold resistant Level 1!

Can I get any skill just by complaining?

No you can't

I just feel generous that's all.

You felt generous, will I be able to turn this skill on and off whenever I feel like it?

No!

Sam couldn't help but laugh as he read the system's cheeky response. It was as if the entity behind the system had a personality of its own, a thought that both amused and unsettled him. The new skill of Cold Resistance was already taking effect, and the chill that had been biting at his skin moments ago seemed to lessen, turning into a mild discomfort rather than a piercing cold.

"Well, that's convenient," Sam muttered under his breath. As he got dressed for another day of training, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was watching over him—perhaps the same force that had granted him the Monarch’s Revival. He wasn’t sure if it was something to be grateful for or wary of.

The next few days passed in a blur. Sam focused on training, deliberately pacing himself, just as he had promised his family. He carefully honed his fire magic, avoiding any reckless use of power that could endanger him again. Each session was more controlled, more disciplined. His parents and Isonorai were constantly by his side, their eyes filled with a mixture of concern and pride as they watched him grow stronger by the day. "Your doing great keep it at a steady pace " Isonorai Said satisfyingly. Giving Sam some motivation to keep moving forward.

You have level up!

You have reached level 17!

However, something lingered at the edge of Sam's thoughts, a nagging sense of unease. He felt it most strongly during the quiet moments, when he was alone in his room or taking a break from training. The cold weather wasn’t the only thing that had changed—there was an air of tension, as if the world itself was holding its breath.

One evening, as Sam sat by the fireplace, staring into the dancing flames, his mother approached him, a worried expression on her face. "Sam, there's something I need to tell you," she began, her voice trembling slightly.

He looked up at her, sensing the gravity of what she was about to say. "What is it, Mom?"

Claire hesitated, then took a deep breath. "There have been reports from the village. People are saying they've seen strange lights in the forest, and... there are whispers of a dark figure watching from the shadows. Some believe it’s just superstition, but others think it’s something more."

Sam’s heart skipped a beat. He remembered a distant figure, the one who had potentially observed his revival from afar. Could it be that he was the source of these rumours? And if so, what did he want?

"Do you think it has something to do with me?" Sam asked, his voice steady but his mind racing.

Claire didn’t answer right away. Instead, she reached out and gently placed her hand on his. "I don’t know, Sam. But I do know that we need to be careful. Whatever it is, we can’t take any chances."

Sam nodded, his resolve hardening. He had been given a second chance at life, a gift of incredible power—but with it came responsibility. He couldn’t afford to be careless, not with the safety of his family at stake. The sorcerer, the strange lights, the cold creeping into their land—it all felt connected, and Sam knew that eventually, he would have to face whatever was lurking in the shadows.

For now, he would keep training, keep growing stronger, and keep an eye out for any sign of this mysterious figure. He wouldn’t let fear control him, but he wouldn’t ignore the danger either. Sam was ready to protect his family and their home, no matter what it took.

The fire crackled softly, casting a warm glow over the room. Sam squeezed his mother’s hand, giving her a reassuring smile. "I’ll be careful, Mom. I promise."

Claire smiled back, though her eyes still held a trace of worry. "I know you will, Sam. Just remember, you don’t have to face this alone. We’re all here for you."

As she left him to his thoughts, Sam stared into the flames a little longer, his mind already strategizing, preparing. He had a feeling that the coming days would bring more challenges, more mysteries to unravel. But he was ready—or at least, he would be.

After all, he had already been through the mysterious Creator Dream World and come out the other side. Whatever was waiting for him in the shadows of the forest, he would face it head-on.

And this time, he wouldn’t be alone.
