Noria’s Preposition

Arising in the shimmering light of the morning sun cast astray by a drop of water on a leaf, Jace rubbed his eyes. Noria had already awoken and was preparing breakfast. “Hey you! You’re finally awake.” She said, noticing that Jace had finally awoken. “Now would be a good time to give an explanation for my character's backstory that is incredibly complex but will serve no other function than to strike a chord with the audience.”

“Okay” Jace replied.

“When I was young, I had always looked up to my sister, partly due to the height difference between us, but also in a figurative sense. She was a strong elven warrior who had never in all her battles and hunts suffered so much as a scratch. Some even called her Drauthflania, elvish for unscathed flower. However her reign as a hero of the Southern Elves came to a short end when the super evil demon lord of death and decay, whose real name must never be said, attacked our conclave. His army was vast and powerful, yet my sister stood steadfast, defending the city walls for hours on end. Yet when the evil one himself finally came to battle her, she was unable to defeat him. They fought hard and my sister, in a final strife for victory, resorted to using the power, however the super evil demon lord of death and decay, whose real name must never be said, stood 32.1773 feet away and was left unscathed. He then unceremoniously took her life by casting some wicked cool magic lightning spell thing, I’m not really sure what it was but it was sick as hell. So anyways, I decided to become a huntress and go on a quest to find you the chosen hero.”

“Cool” Jace replied.

“Therefore I request you, Hero chosen by the Princess and hailed as the savior in an ancient prophecy that you will never learn anything about as the one who would defeat the super evil demon lord of death and decay whose real name must never be said, to allow me, Noria, a Huntress of the Southern Elves, to join you on your perilous quest.” Noria pleaded.

“Yeah, sure,” Jace replied.

A slight breeze blew through the pine trees, their tops swaying slightly before returning to center. The rays of sunlight, angled sharper down now than before, shone through the tops of trees, illuminating the needle ridden forest floor with a golden light. Not far off a deer wandered through the trees, stopped when it saw the two, then scapered away, rustling branches as it went.

Not long after, The two decided that the day was young and that the time had come to get going. Heading in the correct direction, without map or compass, they left before eating breakfast. For some, this would be a devastating detail that would have consequences, however the Hero and the Huntress are just so powerful and headstrong that preparing a nondescript breakfast but not eating it is of no consequence whatsoever to either supplies or exhaustion.
